New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

@kelly199 based on the last three months I’m 3 days late before that I was on a 28 day cycle so based on that one day!! I think I just find it odd o can always tell when af is going to arrive based on how bloated I am and how sore my boobs get lol! My boobs are not that sore and I am very bloated and obviously I had cramps for two day like when af comes just not as bad as I do suffer horrible with them and no af which is odd for me! And I don’t normally suffer with the dull headache I’ve had for 3days.

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF you never know!! Do you think you could be? Get a test to check so you can put your mind at rest? Try not to get your hopes up just in case, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx

@kelly199 I have no idea it seems unlikely seeing as we have been trying for 5 years on and off so probably 3 if we took out all the favs so still a significant time!
I don’t get my hopes up after all this time and think that’s why I don’t want to get a test as I gave up on testing ages ago so I don’t have to see that empty space where the 2nd line should be but I think because I’m normally regular I might just to put my mind to rest and then I can just wait for af and to start my injections!! Sometimes our bodies are just cruel to us!

Thanks for asking.... feeling pretty terrible. Heavy red bleeding and a lot of pain. I'm pretty confident it's bad news and I keep crying. Second blood test tomorrow so I'll know for sure by Friday I'd think.

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF yeah I know, it would be unbelievable really if you were after that amount of time.
It is horrible when the tests are negative.
It is strange how you're late and you never are though.
They do say if you're stressed and waiting, it can be late. Don't know whether that's a myth?
I know exactly what you mean with not wanting to get one and knowing the slim chance that you are, BUT you should hopefully know either way then and know that you'd just be waiting for your af that's late. If it isn't a myth about the stress causing it to be late, maybe it's best to do test as you'll know then and won't be wondering and it may arrive then!
Fingers crossed for you though even if it is just a small chance!! Xx

So I think af is on her way obviously just mentioning a test has made her take action! I guess I will be ringing the clinic tomorrow to arrange my day 6 scan!!

Aww. It's so crap. Can't imagine how you must feel. Yeah, you'll prob feel better doing it and supposed to help with fertility isn't it? Nice to clear your head and give you something to do if you're missing the walks. So horrible. Sending hugs xx

Yep and a bit of cramping too. Got my second blood test today. I know in my heart of hearts it's bad news so just trying to keep busy 💔

@kelly199 no not really had some spotting last night so expected a full on cramps and af this am but no still spotting by I do feel crappy now do guess it just a matter of time before she does! It’s an outing because I ca make my appointment until she in full flow! Why do our bodies mess us around at crucial times!!

First one was due Saturday, but as they're closed wknds, I'm booked in on Monday 4pm!

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF it's always the way when we're wanting something!! I hope af arrives for you soon!! Does it usually show throughout the day so you could be in with chance during day today, or is it usually am?
I'm ok thank you. Last clomid last night, so fingers crossed for the month now!
Hope you're feeling ok. Hopefully it will arrive for you soon, so frustrating for you!! Xx

Hope af arrives today for you so you can get the ball rolling! Have you set a time limit as to when you might take a test if af doesn't show up maybe in the next few days? @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF

I'll know by Friday I think. 've got an unavoidable appointment Friday lunch time so I'm just going to have to ignore my phone if the doc rings until after Friday afternoon. Won't be able to face it with bad news. Typical eh.

@kelly199 no it’s normally first thing or sometimes I get spotting but that’s normally on the evening and starts am the next day so this again is odd no idea what my body is doing or why the change! Yeah feeling ok just want it to get going so I can crack on lol!
So on to your scans them that must be exciting kind of on to the next step see what’s going on!

@squirrelnutkins1 I was going to buy one yesterday evening but the I started spotting so didn’t bother and haven’t really thought about it now as I just think af is on her way so if not by tomorrow then I might just brave it but I’m feeling more and more cramps so I don’t think I’ll need to worry about getting one!

Sorry you have to wait till Friday fingers crossed that’s it’s not bad news xx

Hope it will arrive for you do you don't have to wait anymore! I'd def do test if no show tomorrow just so you know if it is af you're waiting for.

@Kelly199 hope monday comes quick for u exciting! @squirrelnutkins1 hugs i hope its gd news fri have u taken another test to see if the lines are getting darker..i know your probably scared to @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF when im stressed af is always late..im not holding out any hope this month either 3 1/2 yrs down the road nuthins changed afs due 2morro i think no sign of it yet tho. Wish itd just hurry up and come so my stomach was less bloated and id stop feeling soo bloody hungry!
