New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

He said it's very very common and more often than not things work out fine. He took my pulse and blood pressure and felt my stomach and all was ok.
He said HCG should double every 48 hours in early pregnancy so I've got to have it checked today and Wednesday and he told me to just rest for a few days until we know what's what.
I feel slightly better but until the end of the week I'll be worrying I'm sure.

@squirrelnutkins1 great news!! So pleased to hear. Hope you're feeling better about it all now.
Yeah, it's understandable that you'd still worry. It's only natural. Docs advice anyway, try relax as much as poss. Maybe call in sick for another few days with work. This is more important xx

I feel slightly better about it. I just don't know what to say to work. I feel awful as I'm checking my emails and someone else is off sick too and someone else long term so people are having to be drafted in to help

I said this morning I had stomach cramps and I was going to gp. I don't know whether to say gp is sending me for bloods and has told me rest or whether that'll raise eyebrows?! I'm putting off phoning my manager back!

@squirrelnutkins1 entirely up to u but id say ive been having womens problems is your manager a man? Cause they never ask for any more info their normally to embaressed but its a woman say they want to see you back in complications from your procedure u had done..im sayin all this but i hate fonin in sic too lol x

@squirrelnutkins1 I know where you're coming from as I'd be the same. I always worry over everything and stress about work etc. When I need time off, but then I think to myself that I don't want to be in this situation and it's not my fault I'm having to go for appts etc. You only work for money. It's not your fault that they're having to draft people in etc. You have bigger things and more important things to focus on. Just concentrate on trying to relax yourself and just go for your gp appts and go back to work when you're ready ❤️

I'm assuming they don't know anything as too soon?
Just say that your gp is sending you for tests and isn't happy at the moment and wants you to relax for the rest of the week until your results are back.
Can you get a sick note from gp if work ask? Xx

Haha might be easier if it were a man lol! She's a woman. I just said gp wants me to have some bloods and to rest up and she was fine! She just said is it gastro or gynae related cramps and I said gynae so I've not told any fibs but just not told the whole truth.

Thanks for the input girlies ❤️. It's way too early to mention anything at work so I don't want to have to say anything unless absolutely necessary.

You're right. It's just a job and it's such a large organisation I work for I'm really just a number!!

Yes, don't worry about it! 😘 you're there for money that's it. You haven't wanted yourself to be in this situation, so whatever comes with it isn't your fault anyway.

I'm good thank you. Can't wait until my last clomid tablet now Tuesday so I can be closer to my fertile window. We're going to do it every other day from Wednesday I think then I'll be temping and doing opks to hopefully catch ovulation and will do it day before, day of, and day after too! Xx

@squirrelnutkins1 thats gd at least she wasnt annoying @Kelly199 you must be gettin xcited now it could happen this month fx! Im alrite still feeling a bit shit tbh but i finished work early today so that always helps lol x

@2fingers22018 I am getting excited it's coming closer to the possibility, but not getting hopes up too much because I think maybe if there's too many mature at scan, they'll cancel, or if an unsuccessful cycle. Think everything goes through our heads lol.

It's so rubbish!! Sending hugs. Nice to have an early finish! Do you know much about the ivf process? Is it fairly quickly after your initial appt? Xx

@Kelly199 ive been trying to read up on it but the problem is i dont if i ll be short protocol or long protocol. I just wish i could get started today its bloody frustrating..i know what you mean its a balancing act between being positive and being delusional lol

Exactly!! That's what I feel sometimes! Trying to be as positive as can be, but there's not much hope when you have obstacles! 🙈 x

No sign of af I thought it was going to arrive last night as it felt like it was and nothing got up today and nothing still have a headache and feeling bloated like normal the only odd thing is the headache and no af! I’m trying not to think about getting s text it seems very unlikely!
