New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

Thanks ladies! I’m sort of relieved after negative tests I was thinking of all sorts wrong with me!

So exciting your all starting treatment. Fingers crossed for you all.

@kelly199 and @2fingers22018 I know I’m scared now I have to say!! So far I have 10 days worth of Bemfola which I think stops the hormones so have to do one of them a day at 7pm I think! I have to go for a scan and bloods on day 6 of cycle depending on what those results show hey may start me in cetrotide which stimulates egg production so will do that a long side the other one then I have scans and bloods on day 8 and 10 and then they will tell me when egg collection will be and they aim for day 5 transfer but depends on development so it’s going to be all go!!
Think I’m mainly worried about side effects and getting ohss because of how many follicles I have!!

@Finallytakingtheplunge yh that is a worry but at least they seem to want to keep a close eye on you. With all the scans and technology they have nowadays theyl know if your overstimulating. Hows your OH feeling about it all?

He is very excited apart from he thinks him having to produce 1 sample is more humiliating then all the internal scans and things I have to do 🤔 lol! Men hey!!! @2fibgers22018

@Finallytakingtheplunge thats alrite yh i do feel for them if i was a guy i dont know if i could do it lol but geez i dnt think they fully understand how embaressing those scans are you feel youve got dignity at all! You kind of think its 2019 people there has to b a better way to do this surely?! I went into it thinking cringe but ive had a smear get on with it but those stirrups and the fact there were 3ppl there aswell😶

@2fingers22018 yeah I get that but I’m like least your by yourself your not in a room with like you said your legs in stirrups with a little paper towel over you with a dr and maybe a nurse as well as your husband all there with you inserting a massive stick up up your bits and then wiggling it around 😂😂! The shame 🙈

I know i dnt get why they need 2nurses tho its like cmon 1is enough lol

Whenever I've had a smear the nurse tries to make pleasant conversation!! I feel like saying "get in do your job and get out" 😂 our hospital is a teaching hospital so you're always asked if students can be present. The last few times I've said no 😵

Don't worry, just cross the bridge if it comes to it. I know what you mean though, I was wondering if the fact I have PCOS with a high follicle count means I'm more at risk of over stimulating. Don't really know how it works.
Hope you'll be ok though 🤞🏼 You're being closely monitored, so you'll know exactly what's going on, that's one good thing! Fingers crossed for you.
Lol with your oh. Yeah, men wouldn't cope with what we have to put ourselves through.
In fact, when I went for my hycosy and had to put my legs up on those things to keep them high up and open wide, my oh started smirking knowing the embarrassment. I could've called him everything lol. He soon changed his tune when he saw the discomfort I was in! He'd have enough to say if it was the other way around 🤣🤣

@squirrelnutkins1 how's the bleeding? My mum actually said this morning that she thought she lost me because she bled at 3 months and thought she was miscarrying, but of course, I'm living proof that I was still in there healthy! She had a scan as was worried and nothing wrong at all. Hope all well with you. Xx

@Kelly199 Hey. It's still happening but pretty much just a little bit when I wipe so trying not to be overly worried. I did another test today and still said positive 👍🏻 I'm wondering if I'm actually more like 5 weeks than 6 because the high progesterone result I got was a week later on day 26 so with all my medical knowledge (!?!? LOL!) I've decided it's probably implantation bleeding and I'm not as far along as I thought.
Oh wow your poor mum bless her. It sounds like it's really very common but of course it's terrifying, esp when it's all new so every twinge or pain etc I'm panicking!
Are you still feeling good and no side effects? Xx

Yeah, I'd panic myself. Think it's just natural instinct as obviously we recognise bleeding as a bad sign, but yes, I had read of many people having it.
No side effects! It does say on the sheet she gave me that most people tolerate it and don't have any side effects, but obviously some do. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones that don't have any. Not talking too soon though lol. I'm ok at min though thank you 😘 xx

Morning all!

So had cramps all afternoon yesterday so was rushing to the toilet every five mins thinking af was turning up but no she didn’t! Woke up this morning with cramps thinking must be now now but still nothing!! What a nightmare!!

@squirrelnutkins somebody I know who was pregnant bled through most of her pregnancy and all turned out fine so doesn’t always mean something bad even though it is scary maybe your little bean is getting comfy in there xx

Hope so. I'm getting really down cus it's not stopping ☹️ I keep googling and I'll feel better then I'll read something else and feel ten times worse. I don't really know what to do about it other than wait it out. Wonder whether to ring gp tomorrow.

Hope we all had a nice weekend!!!

So af didn’t arrive yesterday, cramps, headache and felt very tired! Still no show as at the moment kind if. Annoying as I haven’t been late in forever!!
