I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

@2fingers22018 yeah I know. I had to pay for it as that was my last private appt before being referred back to nhs and I was dreading how much but it was like £15.23 for 6 month supply lol (30 tabs though obviously).
It says that a poss side effect is blurred/double vision. She advised me of that risk too so I was like oh god.. I'm hoping it's a rare one. I think most common seems to be the hot flushes.
Only thing is though, (I've prob already said so sorry if I have, but can't remember).
My day 21 progesterone came back at 20, but gym called recently to say my day 26 was 35 so I had ovulated then. Obviously late due to my PCOS. So all it seems to be the prob is just the fact I have PCOS, but if I'm ovulating, that would mean the clomid isn't going to do much anyway other than possibly regulating it a bit more? She gave me the option of if I wanted to try or go straight to ivf, but I wanted to try this first.
See how it goes and decide then if unsuccessful. X

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 10:26

I meant to say after the clomid cost really cheap before anyone thinks I'm complaining thinking it was a lot haha 🤣

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 13:20

@Kelly199 yh thats surprisingly cheap gd luck hopefully u wnt get much side effects sometimes they have to warn you even if theyr rare like u said. I have to go and pick my dogs ashes today not fun, feel like i want to drink at the weekend but i cant im in the tww. Chances of me being pregnant are slim to none but i suppose i better not risk it even if its 1% chance.

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 13:26

@2fingers22018 exactly! I'll just deal with it anyway!
I'm sorry about your dog. Sending hugs ❤️ such a horrible thing for you to have to do.
There's still a chance it could happen, even if it is a small chance. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼😘 xxx

squirrelnutkins1 · 29/03/2019 13:38

Thanks girls 😘 still spotting but most of what I've read is reassuring.

Taking your meds at night is such a good idea, hopefully you'll avoid the side effects totally @Kelly199

Aww hugs ☹️ @2fingers22018

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 14:20

@squirrelnutkins1 glad about that. 🤞🏼❤️

Yeah, I'm looking forward to starting tonight now. Just feels like I'm getting closer to the possibility. We shall see. Not getting my hopes up too much xx

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 14:20

@squirrelnutkins1 have you started to have any symptoms yet? Xx

squirrelnutkins1 · 29/03/2019 14:40

I'm excited for you 😬 funny how we were both told to still take the clomide even tho evidence of ovulation. May be like you say to regulate ovulation or something. I think it's wise to try less invasive ways first isn't it. How long will you try it for?

Not really, only sore nipples, bad skin and feeling tired but they aren't specific to pregnancy are they. Gonna take another test tomorrow I think. Preparing myself for the worst but hoping for the best.

This is all such a mine field for us all isn't it but I'm so happy the sun is out! It really helps me mentally to see a blue sky and feel some warmth! Xx

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 15:02

Thank you @squirrelnutkins1 well, for me, as my day 21 showed no ovulation and one that gp showed none too and along with my PCOS diagnosis, she prescribed it to me as my appt was before day 26 bloods. So she called me and told me that the result was 35 and I had ovulated, but I was worried poss I have anovulatory cycles because of my PCOS or something. She gave me the option, but yes, like you said, I'd rather try something less invasive first and go from there.
Also, I have read that it can regulate, so we'll see. I should have more chances with it with the stimulation anyway. Even if I overstimulate and release more than one, I'll have that other chance then too.
She gave me 6 month supply, but I think I'll just see how the first few cycles go.

Aww try not to stress about it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all positive for you.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've noticed my mood has been better with the sun! Xx

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 16:24

GreyC · 29/03/2019 16:45

So I need help! I symptom spotting crazy!!

Period was due yesterday (never in the last two years according to my app) have I gone past 27 days a cycle. I’m technically 12 or 13 dpo (if I did!) If anything I’m early each month when I’m stressed! However I’ve had cramps all week! Both sides twinges; pulling sensations ; back ache; I’m pretty sure it’s AF (I did a test last night & negative)
However; I still have that little voice saying you might be despite a negative test :(. And it would be positive now even if it was just a little line as it was first response.
I never ever get like this as it’s been going on so long now. My body is slapping me in the face good & proper

squirrelnutkins1 · 29/03/2019 17:37

Ah yes that all makes sense. They said to me taking it increases the 'risk' of conceiving multiples. I think that'd be quite amazing! But more than happy with just one 🙏🏻 let us know if you get any symptoms from taking it won't you. @Kelly199 thanks hun.

I've got washing on the line it's so nice! Sorry it's not nice where you are @2fingers22018

@GreyC Here's hoping 😊😊😊

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 17:42

@GreyC how long have u been ttc have you had any tests done?

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 17:43

I think when you have a miscarriage it can throw your cycles waaay off

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 17:48

Ignore my last 2messages im gettin soooo confused with who im talking today sorry!

GreyC · 29/03/2019 18:11

Haha that’s ok 2fingers!

Well over a year now. And it suggest I have trouble with eggs - my progesterone was 24 on a day 21. Waiting for the letter from the referral place.
Really down about it at the minute and now this; my bloody body - I could give it a right talking too!!

Kelly199 · 29/03/2019 18:37

@2fingers22018 oh really? It's been really sunny here for a few days and it's lasting until quite late in the evening (that I don't like as I like it dark in evenings lol).
Yes, fingers crossed for us all! 🤞🏼

@GreyC hope it'll be good news. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼

@squirrelnutkins1 yeah, it's a nice 'risk' lol, but as you said, I'd be happy with just the one!
Yeah, I'll let you know tomorrow how I am.

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 18:39

@GreyC sorry..i know how you feel if you ever need rant your in the right place hun. Its not just depressing its infuriating sometimes it just seems soo unfair x

2fingers22018 · 29/03/2019 18:40

Feels like our bodies are failing us

GreyC · 29/03/2019 22:28

Tell me about it. I have been checking every two minutes in the loo!. I have no cramping at all now. I’ve even googled phantom pregnancy symptoms incase something like that’s happened (irrational I know!) but what’s going on 😓 Tempted to get a blood test done Monday if still no positive result and no period. No doubt it will rear it’s ugly head in the morning or something!

GreyC · 30/03/2019 07:46

Guess what arrived this morning! Booked my follicle tracking scan and I’m temping too this month. Thanks for your support; my body was just doing it’s own thing!

squirrelnutkins1 · 30/03/2019 08:48

@GreyC I'm sorry hun ☹️ big hugs xxx

Kelly199 · 30/03/2019 08:49

@GreyC sorry af arrived!! Horrible as it is without playing tricks! So annoying. Hope you're ok, sending hugs ❤️

Well...(touch wood not to jinx myself!), but I didn't feel as though I had any symptoms from the clomid, thank god!! Unless I slept through them. I was a little hotter than usual I suppose, but no flushes. I had little pain similar to mild period pain. I obviously have af at min anyway, but usually don't have any cramping past cd1, but could've well been just af as it likes to change all the time anyway lol.

How is everyone today?

2fingers22018 · 30/03/2019 09:00

@GreyC sorry hun our ovaries are cruel why do our bodies always play games😠@Kelly199 gd im glad its going well soo far one pill down eh? So how many days do you have to take them for?

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 30/03/2019 09:13

Morning all,

Sorry af came @greyC!

@kelly199 good that you have no symptoms did they say they would start straight away?

So I realised last night that I was reading my app wrong as that’s still telling me I have a 28 day cycle so based o the last few cycles it’s been 26 and day 27 today and feel like af is on her way as I feel bloated as hell but I’m normally a first thing in the morning occasionally in the evening so who knows lol! That means I could potentially be injecting tomorrow or Monday😱

Xx
