New year, new 'starting the journey' thread

I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here

So I have question I am going to email the clinic and ask but just thought I’d see if any one knew!
Any one know if you can dye your hair when doing this medication I know an odd question but I do and it really needs doing?!

Morning @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF I honestly have no clue! Just email and ask, It's not a silly question. I've heard about not dying when you're pregnant because of hormones (I think?), unless it's a myth? I really have no idea...

Af arrived this am, well..I went to the toilet and nothing then had a pee and wiped again and little blood, so I'm hoping it'll be full flow today. I almost always have af in morning, but get woken up with cramps, but don't have any cramping....YET! Lol. Come throughout the day prob!! X

On the don’t do it when pregnant it’s just the first three months I believe unless it’s changed now! In sure some one will correct me if I’m wrong

That's really good! The clinic I went to I couldn't get hold! I used to have to keep ringing and it would go to answering machine and I swear they used to pick it up and put it down, so I'd ring again until they answered lol (I know for different things as it was just the consultation). Wouldn't give in 😂 prob sick of me in the end.

@2fingers22018 exactly! Yes, think this will be the only time I'd be happy seeing it. Obviously be devastated from now on! Cramps have started so in work pissed off now lol.

@Kelly199 a bit better had to go to work aswell so that forced me out the house lol just been keeping to myself cba with cheerful ppl at work tbh how bad is that?..hope ur cramps ease up x

So shit isn't it. No, I completely understand the annoyance of cheerful people when you're feeling so low about crap in your own life.

Just booked my scan for 8th as 6th is a Saturday! Book the next one at that appt then the lady said.

I know. Fingers crossed. Although, I don't think I'll be so lucky as to catch straight away!!
I start at 8 and finish at 4:30 so be leaving now!

According to the date of my last period I'm 6 weeks today. Two positive tests a couple of days apart. No real symptoms. However I've been having brown and pink spotting since lunch time 💔 I phoned the fertility unit who told me to speak to the gynae assessment unit who weren't very interested. I feel like I'm coming on my period, the leg ache, cramps, spotting. I've just been in bath/bed all afternoon as I'm so terrified.

@squirrelnutkins1 I know, really hoping it works for me!
Sorry to hear about the bleeding. I want to tell you not to worry, but I know it's a silly thing to say because you will anyway, but I have read this with some ladies and everything has turned out to be fine.
Do you think you could try call again tomorrow and hopefully you could speak to someone who will be willing to help/give you some advice? I hope everything will be ok Xx

They said you can't really see anything on a scan until 7 weeks so if it's still the case next week to call them 😏 she was really uninterested. She softened a bit when I said I'm new to this and it's taken a lot of heartache to get here.

@squirrelnutkins1 Aww, it's so annoying. I can't imagine how panicked you must be. Just try and relax as much as you can. I know it's hard and you prob can't, but just try and stay positive about it at the moment. I honestly have read others that have had some bleeding and it ended up to be fine. I hope you are one of those. Just shitty you have to wait another week!! Positive thoughts ❤️

@squirrelnutkins1 try and take it easy hun fone in sick for ur work etc. Ive got a friend who bled through both of her pregnancies and they told her its more common than ud think, but I know it must be stressing you outhugs @Kelly199 r u working again today? Have you been to the doc to pick up the clomide yet? Wondering what symptoms if any you get x

@2fingers22018 unfortunately lol. Work mon-fri so at least last day today.
I've actually had my prescription since my last appt with the gyn! It's been sitting in my drawer waiting lol. Torture.
Will be taking it at night tonight. Prob at 8/9pm so if I want an early night one day, I can, without having to worry about staying up before I can go to sleep!
I'll let you know if I get any symptoms. The one I'm most worried about is the vision one! Hoping it's more of a rare side effect.
