I know there are a lot of threads about people starting out, but they were all started a while ago and everyone seems a lot further ahead these days.

So.... newbies unite?

DH and I have been ttc for 2yrs. Saw our gp who ordered blood tests and sperm tests. He gave us a boat load of info..... jokes, he was pants. Told me I was 'fine' and husband was 'not fine', only detail was that DH has 4mil out of a necessary 16mil sperm, mentioned ivf and referred us to a specialist. That's all the info we got. Today I had a transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. It was not the most fun 20 mins of my life but it was fine, now I'm trying to play Sherlock and figure out what the random numbers the radiologist was shouting about my ovaries meant. How about you?

Because I'm early stages, I avoided forums/Google etc because I'm prone to anxiety and didn't want to panic unnecessarily. Therefore apologies but I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations and lingo! Also sorry, I'm naturally sarcastic and a bit sweary, but that doesn't mean I'm insensitive - it would be great to share stories and support each other here Smile

Hope you're ok @veeboo it is hard when people come out with stupid comments!
@squirrelnutkins1 any sign of af yet? Mine was due today according to Flo app, but no show yet!! Usually makes an appearance morning I'm due so we'll see if it appears at all today!!
Hope everyone else is ok and all had good weekend!

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/03/2019 12:32

@Kelly199 no.... I got my first ever BFP yesterday Blush it's incredibly early days and I'm absolutely terrified of something going wrong but I think my HSG must've cleared my tubes and made me ovulate and we got lucky.

Kelly199 · 25/03/2019 13:03

@squirrelnutkins1 congratulations!! Really pleased for you!! I know it's hard not to, but try not to worry yourself. I'm sure everything will be ok!
Keep us updated!! Xx

ChloH99 · 25/03/2019 14:55

Hi all, thought I'd pop on here for some moral support or just advice to be honest! Me and my partner have been TTC for over a year now. Had hormone tests done and they came back all okay, so was very confused. Had some concerns about bleeding a couple of weeks ago so went to the docs and he confirmed an early miscarriage. I'm so angry at myself for not even realising I was pregnant in the first place and now am wondering if I could have prevented it if I knew. Partner wants to take a break TTC and initially I did too however now I don't know whether it's the right decision and I'm really struggling with what to do.
Thanks guys in advance x

2fingers22018 · 25/03/2019 16:55

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/03/2019 17:08

@2fingers22018 @Kelly199 that's so kind of you both thank you ❤️ it's not sunk in and the overriding feeling is fear (not what I expected) I'm terrified of it not being real etc.

The support on these thread is INCREDIBLE. It's so nice not to do this alone. Xxx

2fingers22018 · 25/03/2019 17:12

@squirrelnutkins congratulations!! Wondful news what a great start to the week! Xx

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 25/03/2019 18:06

Hi @chloH99 sorry to hear about your miscarriage how late was your AF? I think miscarriages happen for a lot of reasons and there’s no way to tell if you had known it would of changed the outcome so they not to be to hat on yourself
Has your dp had a SA?
A year isn’t long in the TTC world and I think the statistics are quite high that if you haven’t conceived within the first year most will in the 2nd. Obviously that doesn’t happen for everyone as people have unexplained infertility where nothing can be found wrong.

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 25/03/2019 18:13

Oh and just in case any of you lovely ladies are taking pregncare amazon have a three two on it so it’s a great price!!

ChloH99 · 25/03/2019 18:59

@FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thanks so much for your reply 💖 not entirely sure how late AF was as I have very irregular cycles, hence why I hadn't take a test as we decided to take a month off. Doc said he thinks I was around 4/5 weeks so very early. I totally understand 1 year is not long in the grand scheme of things though, I'm holding out hope for the rest of the year 🙌🏻 the doc said he isn't prepared to do test on my partner until further down the line- has any one got any advice on this? Struggling with what to do next x

Mrsmch123 · 25/03/2019 21:26

@squirrelnutkins1 congratulations ❤️

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/03/2019 21:35

@Mrsmch123 @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF thank you so much ❤️

CloudSway · 26/03/2019 09:27

@squirrelnutkins1 Congratulations!! Amazing news, I'm so pleased for you 😊 gives the rest of us some hope!

@chloh99 I'm so sorry about the miscarriage, you must be feeling so many emotions x Ttc is a pretty unsexy thing, and all the timing nonsense can really drive a wedge between partners - if your OH has opened up enough to say he wants a break from it, I'd say it might be worth a months break just to get both your heads in an ok place? Just my opinion though, you have to do what feels right for you two x

Congratulations Squirrel Nutkins
Amazing news!

FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF · 27/03/2019 07:32

Morning all!

How is everyone?

@kelly199 has af arrived for you yet??
@squirrelnutkins how are you feeling?
@chloH99 if you need a months break go for it no point making OH so it if he feels that he needs to. I guess it depends on how you both feel about miscarriage and what you want to do next. In ref to the doctor not doing anything for another year if you are worried then I guess you could pay for private tests. You didn’t say if your OH had had his sperm checked?

I’ve just realised in three days I could be starting my injections I am feeling a bit apprehensive now as it starting to seem very really even though my fridge has been filled with the meds it’s only jistbgot me! Starting to panic about the scans and time off work!

Kelly199 · 27/03/2019 08:22

Morning @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF !
Still waiting!! Knew it would be a later one because I'm probably stressing about when it's coming as it's on my mind all the time waiting! I'm anywhere between 29 and 36 and I'm CD34 today. Was hoping it would've been today if it was late because works out well for the scans. From tomorrow it'll be Saturdays etc. Which is annoying! As long as it doesn't decide to be later again this month because of me waiting!!
Aww, hope you're ok, sending hugs. It's coming closer now so becoming more real! Try not to worry (easier said than done). Just keep in mind what you're doing it all for and I really hope you will get that positive at the end!! Don't worry about work, it is what it is. You can't help what you've got to go and have done etc. Not fair that any of us are in this position to have to go for all these tests, treatments etc. When it's so easy for others! Just don't stress about that (again I know, easier said than done). This is your main priority at the moment and work will have to understand. We only do it for money so don't let it give you unnecessary stress. Hope you'll be ok through it all.

Yes, @squirrelnutkins1 all going ok? Hope you're doing well. Will they be giving you an early scan?

@ChloH99 so sorry about your miscarriage. I thought that you could have the tests carried out on nhs if over a year? Although, I may be wrong!
Could you afford to get the first few tests privately? If not, perhaps try and see a different gp in your docs for a second opinion if you're unhappy with what current gp has to say.
My GP sent me for tests after a year ttc. I had been off contraception for 3 years, but she sent for tests based on actively trying for over a year. I'm sure that's the nhs guidelines?

squirrelnutkins1 · 27/03/2019 09:34

Oh my goodness you guys are soooo amazing. I feel soooo guilty you asking me how I am.... but I'm doing ok. Gonna wait til the end of the week to test again and then I'll get in touch with the fertility unit/gp to see what happens next. Doesn't feel real so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Typical about AF for you @Kelly199 so excited for you starting the clomide soon tho, feels so nice to have a plan in place. Xx

And @FinallytakingtheplungewithIVF eeeek injection time soon! The count down begins xx

@GreyC @CloudSway ❤️❤️

@ChloH99 I'd def request to see a different gp. I'm sure the guidelines are after a year too. Hugs xx

Kelly199 · 27/03/2019 09:44

@squirrelnutkins1 Don't be silly, no need to feel guilty. You were in similar situations beforehand. We've joined this thread for support in the hope that we ALL become pregnant and hopefully will continue to support each other whatever happens.
We'd love for you to keep us updated anyway as we would be interested for symptoms and scans etc.
I'm glad you're doing ok ❤️ keeping my fingers crossed you'll have a healthy pregnancy. I'm sure you will so try not to worry ❤️.
Don't feel guilty on keeping us updated anyway!! Xx

Kelly199 · 27/03/2019 09:46

And yes, it is definitely a nice feeling knowing the clomid is waiting. Feels like a step closer! Fingers crossed I will have some luck with it! Just wish af would bloody hurry up lol.
Everyone on here is so right, I've never wanted it to come so much!!
I'm hoping it'll come today. I'm usually first thing in morning though, so not too hopeful. Having a few niggles, but not the usual cramps to say it's on its way! Xx

2fingers22018 · 27/03/2019 09:49

@squirrelnutkins1 dont feel guilty at all keep us updated x

Kelly199 · 27/03/2019 09:50

How are you @2fingers22018 ? 😘 xx

2fingers22018 · 27/03/2019 09:57

@Kelly199 feeling very down hun😧i slept for 12hours last nite and im still tired, think im just emotionally exhausted. Im trying to muster the energy to tidy my house but i cant get off the couch lol sorry af hasnt arrived yet i was the same last month stressing that it wouldnt come on time for my scan..its stressful x

Kelly199 · 27/03/2019 10:05

@2fingers22018 aww sorry you're feeling so shitty..sending hugs ❤️
The whole process is a lot to take. There's no surprises you're emotionally exhausted!
I know that feeling with the house! I always feel like if I actually get up to do some though, I just keep going. You'll feel better about yourself after then and try and get a nap after it if you're still feeling crap! It's just hard the initial thought of not being bothered to get up and do it. Having said that, I usually just leave it for another day because I feel like you are not and just haven't got the energy to do it. Just do what you want. You're body is telling you what it needs I suppose.
Hope you'll feel better soon. Xxx
