Starting a new thread for all of us going through IVF/ICSI in January/February!

First round of ICSI for us. I’m on the last week of my birth control pill before starting Gonal F injections on the 18th Jan, with the hope of egg collection on the 30th and transfer on the 4th Feb! I’m egg sharing so have been on the pill a while to sync my cycle with the woman recovering half of my eggs Smile.

Is anyone else at a simile stage?

Also, thank you for your sympathy on the loss of my mum. It was in March 2018 so we’re fast approaching the first anniversary of losing her.

She was supportive of us having IVF, and even came out with us to Cyprus for our first cycle. While that was nice, it was also hard work because my mum was disabled and it meant more work logistically for us. But we would never have stopped her coming with us. In fact, this time round, I’ve felt far more relaxed since our arrival in Cyprus and wonder if the one less stressor is going to make a big difference. I also stopped work in September prior to us moving from Surrey to Cornwall which, as well has removed another massive potential stressor. Last of the missing stressors is that DH also finished work at the end of November so we didn’t have to try and get short notice leave to come out here once we knew when we needed to be here.

I am being positive that mum is looking down on us, and wanting us to succeed. In fact, a friend who’s daughter is the same age as me had ivf twins 3 weeks ago, told me to speak to my mum and dad the night before ET and ask them for their help. I know a lot of people don’t necessarily believe in the afterlife or speaking to relatives no longer with us but I do often find myself speaking to my dad late at night (I was a massive daddy’s girl).

@FingersXssd83 great news that you had your double transfer! I thought from what I've been told and read that double transfers were very uncommon nowadays but on MN everyone seems to be having two embies put in. 🤞🤞 so sorry to hear of the loss of your FIL.
I hope the tww is going ok for you and @Nixwix, @Rememberallball and @Ylangho1.

@Peanut1980 sorry you might not be going ahead this month but I agree about keeping your frostie until your body feels ready to go.

@Justwaitingforaline amazing news about your scan!! How exciting! Hope it's more good news tomorrow.

Welcome to all the newbies! So much is happening now for you all! Good luck to everyone.

Not much happening over here. Day 12 of synarel and no AF yet. I've felt like it's coming any minute all day but nothing yet. My evil mind keeps getting my hopes up that my body has somehow naturally done what it's mostly failed for the last 2.5 years but I don't want to go there with what will end in disappointment. I'm sure it'll turn up tomorrow!

Rememberallball · 22/01/2019 19:46

Hi @Boboelephant, 2ww is going ok at the moment. Sure I’m getting some definite symptoms - crampy, aches, sore breasts and, since yesterday, very watery CM - almost post orgasm consistency and smell (sorry for tmi) and all day, might have to resort to wearing panty liners it’s that obvious (to me anyway). It’s very uncharacteristic for me so has got me wondering! Blood test tomorrow morning!!

On number of embryos, my clinic do tend to transfer 2 if you’re over 40 to give best chance of success from each cycle.

We also found out our Frosties are a 3AB and 2x ‘medium’ quality, but all 3 were biopsied before freezing and embryologist listed them all as healthy.

Hi all,
Can i join please?
Starting a new cycle this week after multiple fails.
Feeling conflicted, on the one hand, glad to be doing something. On the other hand, feeling like it will never work. I have a stressful job and the timing in rubbish too but I don't want to waste time waiting another month.
Any tips on being motivated and keeping positive?

Rememberallball · 23/01/2019 04:57

Welcome @InvisibleMe, good luck for your cycle. Try to keep positive so early in the process, you never know how this one will turn out. Have you discussed with your clinic what changes they could make to try and make this cycle more successful?

highheelsandheadheldhigh · 23/01/2019 08:14

Transfer, is next month just waiting on my period starting to get the ball rolling. It started today. I feel utterly devastated that it came, I thought we'd be saved at the 11th hour. After 3 years every month I'm faced with AF I still crumble.
Good luck everyone!
(I'm trying not to cry on the commute home and have an evening on the sofa with DH and a bottle of wine ahead of me - note I live on the other side of the world, infertility hasn't driven me to drink in the morning's. Yet.)

CornishMaid1 · 23/01/2019 09:17

Hi everyone!

Good luck to everyone now in their TWW and good luck with the blood test today @rememberallball.

I'm still on the norethisterone at the moment, but my last dose will be tomorrow and then it is waiting for AF. My baseline scan is preliminary booked for Monday so all being well that will work out and I will start bemfola on Monday. The side effects on the tablets did ease after the first day or two once I got used to them and the only one I still have is really bizarre vivid dreams which are just weird.

Justwaitingforaline · 23/01/2019 11:07

Tracking scan went well this morning, still have 30 follicles growing well! Egg collection is planned for next Wednesday so they’ve ordered me two more Cetrotide packs as I only had enough too Sunday. I’m wondering if they might recommend we freeze all due to how many follicles I have.

Back Friday for another scan!

Hi all

Can I join?

I've just started Buserelin this morning and on a FET - HRT cycle.

Had our first cycle last year in August which ended in a BFN, We managed to freeze two though so fingers crossed it will be a happy ending this time. Smile

I look forward to seeing how you all get on xxx

Nixwix · 23/01/2019 19:50

Hi guys, just wanna pick your brain on sth.
I know I said to myself I wouldn't test but I couldn't resist esp 😭 so today is 5dp5dt and I took one of the cheap Sainsbury's tests. There's a darkish line. Should I be relying on it at all? My gut instinct says no ofcourse. It could well be the hcg trigger right? xx

Rememberallball · 23/01/2019 19:51

Good luck, @Nnngu.

Well, I’ve finally got round to updating after my appointment this morning. My beta hCG at 7dp5dt is 99 so I’m officially pregnant!! My consultant said the number was fantastic for such an early test and could indicate a multiple pregnancy.

Next step is more blood tests to check numbers are continuing to rise. I could go on Friday but, as we’ll be in the middle of our journey home from Cyprus, they said I can wait till Tuesday and hopefully the numbers will have gone up around 8 times. Then I need to book a scan for 3 weeks time to check for heartbeat/s and confirm number of babies. The only little hiccup with that is we will be out of the country on a 5 week cruise so I need to organise a clinic in Bermuda to get that done!! I have been told to continue the progesterone injections until 12 weeks so have got a bag full of them to take home.

Up early tomorrow morning (5am local time - 3am UK time) and off to the airport then flying home!! Will get online as and when I can get connection!!

Rememberallball · 23/01/2019 19:53

@Nixwix, I would say it’s probably still the trigger shot. I’m sure I read somewhere that it can take up to 9 days to clear it from your system which is why they’ll wait till 12 dpt for OTD!!

InvisableMe · 23/01/2019 20:08

@rememberallball congratulations!!! fabulously uplifting to hear success stories ;) ;) ;)

intrigued2018 · 23/01/2019 20:14

@Rememberallball - massive congratulations!!!! So pleased all worked out, fingers crossed for your scan in three weeks time. 😘😘

@Nixwix - when I had the trigger shot for ovulation induction they told me it'd give a false positive for up to 10days after so unfortunately I wouldn't bank on it being accurate. Fingers crossed for it still being positive 11dpo xxx

Nixwix · 23/01/2019 20:53

@intrigued2018 @Rememberallball you guys are right, it's been 12dp trigger shot so it's most likely a false positive. I will test again on Sunday or Monday with a more reliable HPT.

And @Rememberallball congrats again, nothing like hearing good news on these platforms. Gives everyone a little bit of hope :)

intrigued2018 · 23/01/2019 21:02

@Nixwix - fingers crossed it isn't a false positive and will be thinking of you Sunday/Monday. I really hope you had good news over the weekend 😘😘 I was told 10days post trigger so you never know x

Nixwix · 23/01/2019 21:19

@intrigued2018 hehe I hope so too! How are you feeling? You are having an upcoming endometrial scratch right? I wish I had done that as that could have indicated immune issues (I have high thyroid anti bodies). How's your cycle going so far? :)

@FingersXssd83 thinking of you too. Hope you are coping well with everything.

intrigued2018 · 23/01/2019 22:19

@Nixwix - praying the weekend brings you good news, keep us updated. All going okay, had my scratch yesterday! Articles which say it's just like the smear are lying 🤣 I think for everyone it's different but for me it was really painful that it made me feel lightheaded, luckily I was working at home so came back, put my pjs on and felt sorry for myself 🤣 fingers crossed it'll be worth it. I finish the pill and start buserelin both on Saturday, getting excited to start the next part of the journey. How are you feeling in yourself? How had you found the journey? Xxx

Nixwix · 23/01/2019 22:46

@intrigued2018 oh amazing, my dr had recommended it to me but the term scratch scared me a little. I had a mock embryo transfer and a 3D SIS (don't even rmb why I had it now lol) and an HSG - and they were not comfortable, quite painful. So I do understand completely when you say you found it painful. But for me the pain had subsided soon after. Did they give you painkillers? Are you hoping to get any results from the scratch or is it just to help implantation?

The journey was actually quite alright. It went by quite fast. I had no expectations before I started and I took it one day at a time. I always expected sth to go wrong lol. My DH administered all the shots very meticulously cause I couldn't muster the courage for that. I took my time to process all the information, helped me manage my expectations over the time period. One thing I did do religiously till day of ET (have been giving into cravings for the last 4 days) - eat lots of protein, low carbs, lots of nuts and fats, drink a lot of water and walked at a slow pace for 30 mins and I think that helped with feeling fine. Only time will tell now...

What's next for you? :)

Justwaitingforaline · 24/01/2019 18:07

I’ve found my least favourite part of OVF so far - getting a bump without being pregnant Envy

Tracking scan again tomorrow, then probably another one on Monday. Let’s hope these follicles are growing good!

Realitysucks · 24/01/2019 20:46

@intrigued2018 I had my scratch yesterday too. WTF !!! Yeah whoever said it was like a smear lied 🤥 mine was awful, I was actually screaming , poor DH was traumatised! I haven’t gone to work today as still some cramping and still feeling sorry for myself! Are you on long protocol then? I don’t start stims till next cycle so 4th Feb for me. Feel a bit in limbo now 🙄

intrigued2018 · 24/01/2019 22:44

@Realitysucks - glad I'm not the only one who found it traumatising. I'm scarred for life 🤣 I went on my own as it's hard for DH to have time off and as I read it was like a smear I thought I'd be fine! They lied. I nearly passed out! DH made up for it bringing home Thanks and sweets 😀 i don't blame you taking today off!
I am on the long protocol, I start downreg meds' on Saturday, then baseline scan is the on the 5th - not sure if I then start Stims on 5th or 6th. Sounds like our timing are more or less the same. X

Realitysucks · 25/01/2019 07:17

@intigued2018 it was traumatising I’m on another thread and some of the girls have had it too. Didn’t have the heart to tell me 🤣🤣🤣 one promising factor though two of them that’s had it are now pregnant one with twins! So fingers crossed it’s was worth it ! you were so brave on your own!

I’m on short protocol AF due 4th Feb and first scan is the 6th I think I start stims on day three of cycle. Just pray to god cycle comes on time. This waiting is driving me mad as I just want to get started now! Glad to have someone else with same timing !

Boboelephant · 25/01/2019 07:45

@Rememberallball congratulations!!! It's so nice to hear positive outcomes!!!

I am going crazy and struggling to keep positive. Day 15 of synarel, no period and just feel like I've been waiting for ever. I just want to get on with it now. So frustrating!!!

TheGlitterFairy · 25/01/2019 07:51

Hi all, late to the party but may I join? We’re starting our 4th round; I’ve another week on the norethisterone tablets then will be waiting for AF and baseline scan to get going with the meds.
History - severe endo/ surgery for ovarian cysts which seems to have damaged my ovarian reserve as well as decreasing it. First round of treatment we had an embryo transfer that sadly didn’t stick; 2nd - fresh round again though froze 3 embies but they then didn’t survive the thaw. 3rd fresh round in October, no eggs collected.
We wanted to give it one more go before moving to ED. Not feeling massively hopeful but at the same time, hoping for a miracle!!

rememberallball so pleased to see you had good news! Congratulations!!

Good luck to everyone on this round too!
