Starting a new thread for all of us going through IVF/ICSI in January/February!

First round of ICSI for us. I’m on the last week of my birth control pill before starting Gonal F injections on the 18th Jan, with the hope of egg collection on the 30th and transfer on the 4th Feb! I’m egg sharing so have been on the pill a while to sync my cycle with the woman recovering half of my eggs Smile.

Is anyone else at a simile stage?

@intrigued2018 the clinic are aware of my colitis and suggested the cq10 I sent you the link for. They also suggested kefir milk as it's good for the immune however I am keto so I don't drink milk. BTW keto has helped my egg quality massively Aswell but that's about it for advice, I don't think my clinic have any patients with colitis affecting their fertility xx

@Realitysucks my first round they struggled to see my left ovary and said not to worry it can be manipulated by them pushing my stomach during EC. As it turns out, I asked after EC and they said it was just normal and no trouble getting to it at all!

bunnieboo91 · 10/03/2019 22:17

@Ginandtonic31 @Realitysucks Hey the same thing happened to me when the couldn't find my left ovarie and when I came back they pushed around and eventually found it. Don't worry about that they're used to doing that. It took them a while to find mine because I basically don't have a large intestine and organs moved about and the left one was very high Grin

If they found mine they will find yours lol

@ginandtonic31 @bunnieboo91 thanks they said the right one was high. I’m going back to the clinic this morning for another scan. Am really worrying today that they won’t have grown 😬 I’m only on 8 days of stims so this is way earlier than my 10 day scan last time 🤷‍♀️ And they stopped it.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/03/2019 09:03

@Realitysucks I was slow and steady this time and was stimming for 13 days before EC and ended up with 27 eggs. You had some growth didn't you so it isn't like nothing is happening?

Realitysucks · 11/03/2019 09:18

@Ginandtonic31 yes last scan on Thursday they though they counted 6, one was 13mm, one 11 and one 10 the others were between 4-8 but they were hard to see. I’ll be gutted if nothing has happened also worried the 13mm will be too big and will get lost before EC. Last time at ten day scan I only had two one at 19 and one at 12.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/03/2019 10:27

@Realitysucks I don't think it will get too big. On day 8 I had some at 15 and then at day 11 some at 18. That was Monday and I didn't have collection until Friday. I still got the 27 eggs so don't think I lost any.

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/03/2019 10:28

I'm not sure whether anyone is still looking at this thread, but the strangest update from me.

So I did my test on Friday and it was negative. I spent the weekend moping on the sofa, then did another test this morning as instructed by the clinic (standard procedure) - it was positive 😱 I immediately sent DH out for a different make and yep, still positive.

I'm waiting for a call back from the clinic to arrange a blood test as I know that's the only way to know for sure, but WTF????

Realitysucks · 11/03/2019 10:31

@ginandtonic31 waiting to go in, am bricking it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Realitysucks · 11/03/2019 10:33

@ginandtonicformeplease omg how many days dpo???

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/03/2019 11:01

@Realitysucks I had a FET, it's now 14 days past the transfer. As I'm not in London today I can't get a blood test done til tomorrow morning and it's going to drive me mad!

I didn't drink over the weekend thankfully (ate a lot of chocolate instead) but I did have a couple of very strong coffees. I thought nowadays tests were supposed to be accurate????

Realitysucks · 11/03/2019 11:36

It may have been late implantation but it’s good news though !! Two tests both positives!

Right girls I need advice. Just had scan, have three follicles one 22, one 21 and one ten, they are saying EC Thursday with the hope the 10 gets to 14! Should I really be going ahead with only two follicles ? I may only get two eggs or even none! Then they may not fertilise and then they may not get to three days let alone 5. I’m stressing !

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/03/2019 14:41

@Realitysucks What does your clinic say? Do they recommend EC? I've generally just gone with what the clinic say on the basis that they're the experts and (hopefully) know best.

With IVF I think we all drive ourselves mad with the "what ifs". What's your gut feeling on it?

Realitysucks · 11/03/2019 18:35

@ginandtonicformeplease they are saying go ahead. I’m unlikely to get any better results and 1 egg is better than none. Also they can then actually look at the quality and what happens with fertilisation. Ive got to do one more injection tonight then trigger tomorrow at 10:10pm then EC on Thursday at 10:10am. I feel like I’m on a run away trian with no way of getting off! I know it’s best to go ahead see what the quality of egg is like then if we stop after, I’ll get a bit of money back. I’m just emotionally exhausted with it all. Sex is like a chore its all clinical and rules. I feel sorry for DH but he is being great and I am a mess !

ginandtonicformeplease · 12/03/2019 13:24

The blood works came back - I'm very definitely pregnant, really good HCG and progesterone numbers apparently. The nurse had no clue about why it wouldn't show on the test on Friday but they're happy with it all now. Eeeek!

@Realitysucks I know what you mean about feeling like a runaway train - it's so difficult to know what to do for the best. I hope it goes well Thanks

ViolaD77 · 12/03/2019 14:20

@realitysucks what meds are you on? On my first attempt I only had 3 follicles and my clinic only work with 3 upwards, but after meds meriofert and cetrotide I had 14 follicles within 7 days. 12 eggs collected with only 10 of quality.

ViolaD77 · 12/03/2019 14:22

@ginandtonicformeplease I didn't realise you had a FET! Was it 'easier' than a fresh cycle? I've got my first frozen on 1st April. Did you have one or two put back xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 12/03/2019 21:18

@ViolaD77 I can't compare as I had a freeze all egg collection due to OHSS so have only done frozen. What I will say is that it's not quite as hectic - the transfer usually takes place day 17 -21 of your cycle, so they have time to make sure the lining is thick enough. This time I didn't have the transfer until day 25 in the end as my lining just wasn't quite there - they started pumping more meds into me which finally worked. Basically they've just got more time to get your lining right!

ginandtonicformeplease · 12/03/2019 21:20

And just one back - I was given the choice this time but the thought of twins terrifies me!

ViolaD77 · 12/03/2019 23:33

Oh fab, one back and it worked!
I have 3 frozen, still not sure whether to do 2 next time...or just 1 each time so we have 3 more goes as it seems to be a luck/chance game!
Happy to hear its less hectic, I've not told work and making up reasons for medical appts/sickness has become difficult plus taking meds middle of the day etc... Hmm congrats again xx

ParksAndRecreation · 13/03/2019 08:00

Can’t remember which thread I’m on anymore but CONGRATS @ginandtonicformeplease

@violaD77 I’m about to have my FET tomorrow after our fresh cycle ended up as a freeze all last year. Its been WAY less stressful. No endless visits to the clinic, and no hanging around worrying with a total lack of control. I’ve had to go in twice since the co-ordination, both times just simple scans to check my lining.
I’ve done a medicated cycle which I was a bit confused by initially but I think that’s possibly easier than the non-medicated as it has a lower risk of being cancelled (due to any issues with the lining).
We’re putting 2 back tomorrow (if they both survive the thaw) and will have one left. Twins are a terrifying idea, but less terrifying than none at all and as I’m 41 I don’t have loads of time to fanny about!
Good luck with your FET as and when you do it!

Ginandtonic31 · 13/03/2019 11:30

I'm also hopefully starting a frozen cycle soon if my PGD results come back with anything to transfer. When will you be starting @ViolaD77? I can only have one anyway so that choice is taken from me.
