January/ February IVF/ICSI

Starting a new thread for all of us going through IVF/ICSI in January/February!

First round of ICSI for us. I’m on the last week of my birth control pill before starting Gonal F injections on the 18th Jan, with the hope of egg collection on the 30th and transfer on the 4th Feb! I’m egg sharing so have been on the pill a while to sync my cycle with the woman recovering half of my eggs Smile.

Is anyone else at a simile stage?

Eek - just looked on my online treatment calendar / patient portal I also had a blood test tomorrow morning? Does this mean they are checking if my hormones are ready for EC? I kept meaning to ask about a blood test but always forgot. X

TheGlitterFairy · 15/02/2019 06:37

@intrigued2018 thanks! Good luck this morning too! Nervous and excited also! The tiredness is a killer isn’t it. The blood test will be checking hormone levels. 🤞 for us this morning!

ginandtonicformeplease good luck with the patches; they worked well for me last year ahead of a FET.

whatdoyouwantfromme · 15/02/2019 07:24

@bunnieboo91 - hey !!!
I am in the 2ww FET on Monday, test 22nd. Just settling back into routine - Ran yesterday, steady 5km and HIIT trained today, but kept everything light and made sure I could talk the whole way through. Feeling pretty good, more nerves than anything. (Who am I kidding, boobs are agony, constant cramps and I cried in the gym as I got an endorphin rush) When are you testing? How are you?

intrigued2018 · 15/02/2019 07:57

Thanks @TheGlitterFairy - good luck today also! X

intrigued2018 · 15/02/2019 08:44

@TheGlitterFairy - all went well, lining is now 9.4mm, I have one follicle at 19mm, two at 17mm and 1 at 15mm, another 6 around the 12mm and a whole bunch more below 12mm. They are talking about EC on Monday, if not it'll be back for a scan on Monday then EC next Wednesday. Feels a little surreal. X

Realitysucks · 15/02/2019 09:29

@intrigued2018 that’s great news !

So I’ve been to clinic and I actually feel okish. My cycle has been cancelled as only two follicles one at 19m and one at 12 . It would have been silly to carry on to egg collection. They have just given me the trigger shot so we have been told to get busy tomorrow night and Sunday morning and Tuesday ! Lining is 11mm so perfect apparently.

intrigued2018 · 15/02/2019 09:46

@Realitysucks - sorry to hear that they have cancelled your cycle, at least you have one follicle they could trigger and hopefully things work out naturally! Best of luck for the weekend 😘 xxx

Ginandtonic31 · 15/02/2019 10:30

Sorry @Realitysucks that you've had to cancel but I'm pleased you're keeping positive.

I had my first scan this morning, despite this horrible cold that isn't giving up! Because AF hasn't come properly yet my lining was borderline but they don't think that will be a problem as I won't be doing a fresh transfer. I think I had around 26-ish follicles (which is around double compared to last cycle). I have to phone after 2 for blood results and to see if I can get going tonight.

Scottish80 · 15/02/2019 12:26

Good morning everyone! Great place to chat and vent all things fertility! Good luck to everyone on here and looking forward to reading all your stories and (fingers crossed) positive outcomes! Can I join please? Kicking off my first IVF treatment with a scan tomorrow, does anyone know if I have to have a full bladder? Nurse didn’t say??

Ginandtonic31 · 15/02/2019 12:38

@Scottish80 no I don't think it makes a difference. I always go to the loo before I leave home and never thought about it when I'm there. Looks like we will be at a similar time. Are you doing a long or short protocol?

Scottish80 · 15/02/2019 14:39

Hi thanks for your reply @Ginandtonic3. Yeah that’s a relief as I have a 45 min drive to clinic in the morning haha!
Yeah I’m on a long protocol so glad we can finally get started, trying not to get my hopes up tho..might change in the next few weeks when I’m symptom spotting daft!
So your starting around now too? How exciting! Is this your first time too? Have no idea what to expect!

Ginandtonic31 · 15/02/2019 14:55

Just called the clinic and I've got the go ahead to start tonight. Fingers crossed this is a better round for me.

@Scottish80 I start tonight but I am short so I will have egg collection within the next two weeks likely. This is my second round - I only got 4 eggs on my first round. I didn't respond to the drugs after a week and had to have the medication upped and although it looked like I had 10 good follicles only 4 had eggs in and none were in my left ovary. Going in at a higher dose this time and this morning I had a lot of follicles to fill so I'm really hoping this will be a better round! But scared to feel too excited.

Boboelephant · 15/02/2019 16:10

@ginandtonicformeplease I hope the patches help!

@intrigued2018 great news! That sounds really promising. 😀

@Realitysucks so sorry they've had to cancel your cycle but good that you are able to find a positive still. Hopefully the trigger shot will release that lovely big follicle and you'll manage it naturally!

@Ginandtonic31 so pleased to hear that you have the go ahead to start tonight. All sounds really positive with the lining and the follicles too.

@TheGlitterFairy how did your scan go today?

@whatdoyouwantfromme hope the tww is going ok. I'll be joining you tomorrow. 😬

@Scottish80 good luck for your scan tomorrow. You can have an empty bladder, it actually makes vaginal scans easier. Only time you need a partially full bladder is for the transfer.

I have my embryo transfer tomorrow!! Eeek! Hope my embies are holding on! 🤞🤞

intrigued2018 · 15/02/2019 17:15

@Boboelephant - thanks. The clinic called this afternoon, they've decided to leave EC until next Wednesday to give the rest of the follicles around 12mm a chance. Think I'll be doing OPKs just to be on the safe side as I'm worried about the 19mm one trigging ovulation! I'm sure all will be fine as they do this all the time. This little rogue follicle is causing trouble. Back Monday morning for a scan just to keep check on things. Best of luck for ET tomorrow!!! 🎉🎉

@Scottish80 - I was told I had to have a full bladder for my endometrial scratch the rest it doesn't matter.

@TheGlitterFairy - how did you get on today? Xxx

TheGlitterFairy · 15/02/2019 18:06

@intrigued2018 sorry for delayed response today, bit stressful. The larger one we thought I had actually isn't a follicle; seems it's just a sac of fluid that's connected to one of the endometrial cysts that I have but is REALLY hard to detect as such.

This is, in one sense, good - as it was odd that it had increased in size as it had BUT bad - as it means I only have 3 follicles there. The lead one is 18 (and we're confident that it is real!) and the others are 12/11. After much discussion (we were there for 2 hours) - we'll carry on with the meds and have another scan on Sunday, with a view to trying to collect something on Tuesday. This will be the last round I'll do before going to ED - so they - and we - are keen to give it all we can so we have no regrets of not doing. Stressful morning but we're hanging on in there - just!

Read your update that they will collect on Wednesday for you! That's fantastic news! Really great to hear! Great that you're back on Monday also so they can keep an eye on things! I have my fingers crossed!! xx

@Boboelephant - good luck for your transfer tomorrow! Sure they're holding on for you!

@Realitysucks - so sorry they've cancelled your cycle - hopefully a combination of triggering and back to basics will work for you.

@Ginandtonic31 - fantastic you can get going this eve! Good luck!

@Scottish80 - good luck! I tend to go to the loo before a scan!

intrigued2018 · 16/02/2019 12:28

@TheGlitterFairy - what a nightmare you had yesterday! Glad they've figured everything out and there is a plan, great news about scan tomorrow and EC on Tuesday. Fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow and that everything works out with this cycle! So good that the clinic are doing all they can to help. I hope you are okay! Trying to think about Wednesday as know I'll start stressing the closer we get.

@Boboelephant - good luck with ET today!

Xxxx

Boboelephant · 16/02/2019 15:38

So my transfer got delayed today. They called this morning and said that I had 6 at morula stage (what they normally see at day 4) but they weren't blastocysts yet. Of the other 7, one had made it to blastocyst but poor quality and 6 were still at cell dividing stage so were most likely out of the race.

She said that they can't grade them at morulas so they'd be guessing which one was the best and as there were 6, it would be best to give them a day and hope some make it to blastocysts. So transfer is a day 6 one tomorrow.

I'm feeling pretty nervous as up until now it had all seemed to be going so well. I don't know much about day 5 morulas turning into day 6 blasts and really really hope that they are going to survive and divide tonight!!

whatdoyouwantfromme · 16/02/2019 19:11

@Boboelephant 2ww is going good. Survived meeting my sister in laws granddaughter and buying a baby gift. (Yes my friends are in the grandparent stage and I'm still trying for baby 1#. Clearly late to the party - lol

Sorry your scan got cancelled, that's really frustrating for you.

Ginandtonic31 · 16/02/2019 19:45

@whatdoyouwantfromme they must be very young grandparents!!

whatdoyouwantfromme · 16/02/2019 20:28

@Ginandtonic31 brother and sis in law are late 40's early 50's - mum is early 20's ! I was hoping all the baby cuddles would bring me luck.
I'm nearly 7 day's post ET, not sure I'll get to Friday. Up at 5am this morning, send help ladies. Driving myself mental ...... send help ladies.

Ginandtonic31 · 16/02/2019 20:44

@whatdoyouwantfromme see to me that’s early grandparents anyway!! My mums 61 and still not a grand mother! My husband is 45 and will be almost 47 if this round works for us!

whatdoyouwantfromme · 16/02/2019 20:57

@Ginandtonic31 yes it's young, for both mum and gran. DH is 45, he's an old boy, that's why it's so hard that I've not been able to give him a baby yet.
Fingers crossed this is your month love, would be lovely for you all Thanks

bunnieboo91 · 17/02/2019 11:43

@whatdoyouwantfromme I'm testing on the 25th Grin so week tomorrow! Feels like forever waiting to test and still have mild cramping and tingly boobs.

intrigued2018 · 17/02/2019 14:55

@Boboelephant - sorry yesterday didn't go to plan, I hope everything went a little better today and your embryos got to blastocyst stay. Thinking of you and praying you had your ET Thanks xxx
