Hi everyone, just had my first down regulation injection this morning with a scan booked for next Thursday. This will be the transfer of my remaining embryo. I had a little boy last year via ICSI so I know I've been very lucky already.

Anyone else starting now?

Just had my scan, it actually felt positive where all my others have been disappointing. Still have 10 follicles and they have grown since Wednesday so that is good and they are a similar size. I'm to keep up with my higher dose then have another scan on Monday. EC might be Friday so still another week of stims, but I'm starting to feel a bit full. I ran for the bus this morning and my stomach felt heavy, so what will I be like in a week?! Also DP to abstine for 'about 4 days'.

Russkispy · 30/11/2018 10:06

I'm still very much new to IVF and just heading to my last scan. You all mentioned having sex. My EC is on Tuesday. We haven't had sex for a while now. Is it essential to have it before EC? I never asked my doctor.

AmyK18 · 30/11/2018 10:25

Great news @LillyLeaf and think that's very good when they grow collectively :) x

@Ruskisspy think they normally say for the man to obstain no more than 5 days and no less than 3 x

Josie789 · 30/11/2018 10:44

Great news @lillyleaf! Just take it easy I felt exactly the same the first lot of treatment. But the hospital warned me no heavy lifting and to make sure you rest!

@russkisspy sex was the last thing I wanted towards the end of the stims. I was too tired Smile xx

Guio · 30/11/2018 10:49

@Wesstywoo they told me as well I had a few with good size but 10 in total does this mean that the other ones don't count?

Beetroot01 · 30/11/2018 10:52

My ec most likely will be on tuesday. My follicules are a bit small so I am going back to clinic tomorrow morning for another scan :(

Wesstywoo · 30/11/2018 11:16

@guio the nurse told me that any egg inside one of the too small follicles is not likely to be mature but they will still retrieve them anyway and take a look at them when they have got them out to know for sure. I have another one that is smaller but she thinks it is unlikely it will grow enough before Monday so I have 5 if you count the small one

AmyK18 · 30/11/2018 11:27

@Cariad82 how are you feeling today?x

Cariad82 · 30/11/2018 11:37

Hi @AmyK18. Ok thank you for asking. Bit sore from the EC still. Trying not to let myself feel to negative about the result. And trying to be proactive. I plan on doing a lot of research between now and my review appointment so I have lots to discuss with the consultant. I have also booked to go to a create fertility open night to find out more about natural ivf in case that ends up being a route I need to consider. Onwards and upwards. It helps me deal with things if I feel I’m doing all I can.

AmyK18 · 30/11/2018 11:52

@Cariad82 wow I’m so impressed your dealing with it fantastically!! You know what they say knowledge is your allie!! Let us know how you get on with it all.. have a lovely relaxing weekend xx

Josie789 · 30/11/2018 11:57

@cariad82 well done for being so positive. Must be so difficult. Just a thought has any one mentioned ovarian drilling? If course I don't know if this is right for you but I have heard it can help the ovaries be less resistant.
I looked at create fertility they may be right for you but I found it quite money driven and not very personal. Xx

AmyK18 · 30/11/2018 12:32

Omg ovarian drilling sounds terrifying they go through your stomach!!???
Apparently they using it for people with PCOS which is what I have though.
I’d never heard of it I’ll ask doc.

Cariad82 · 30/11/2018 12:44

Thanks both. I’m kind of faking the positive at the moment to be honest, but the more I make myself think that way the more I will genuinely feel that way.

I’ve never heard of ovarian drilling either but it does sound terrifying! I will do some research on that too. I don’t have PCOS or any other identifiable condition, but doesn’t hurt to read up. Same with going to visit Create - just interested to know more. My current clinic does natural IVf and although I’m pretty sure I’m happy to continue with them I figured that with Create specializing in it I can see what they say and then if I ask my clinic about it too I can compare notes. I don’t just want to rely on what my clinic tells me as I know different clinic have different methods and so I need to see what’s going to be the most suitable for me.

Josie789 · 30/11/2018 12:46

Yea it does but its no where near as bad as it sounds, they thought I may have needed it so have looked into it quite a bit. They do go through your stomach it's a keyhole procedure but I think it helps to encourage the ovaries to realse more eggs. Xx

LillyLeaf · 30/11/2018 16:17

The clinic has called and I have to have another blood test tomorrow as my estrogen is a bit high, I don't really know what this means for this cycle. I'm really worried they might cancel it. Anyone had this?

AmyK18 · 30/11/2018 16:39

Well when your eggs start to grow you will produce more and more estrogeon so that is normal and a good thing, but I don’t know what it means if you are producing too much xx

Josie789 · 30/11/2018 17:04

@lillyleaf they told me if it is too high they may 'coast' which means not giving any stims, mine was high but they just kept me going with a lower dose. The eggs can still grow with out stims of they do coast u x

Russkispy · 30/11/2018 17:07

Scan went well, follies have grown nicely again. And there 2 more in the right ovary but under 10mm. Endometrium lining is good size too. Think I'm done with Gonal and just need to carry on wth other injections and trigger on Sunday with EC on Tuesday. All set to fly home/clinic tomorrow.
How's everyone else getting on?

Guio · 30/11/2018 19:11

@Wesstywoo when do you have to do your trigger shot?I will do mine Saturday night.I didn't know about the small eggs, I thought that they tried to fertilize all of them 😔.The nurses at my clinic are lovely but they don't say much, just the basic. They increased menopur just for tonight so i guess my last blood test wasn't as they expected, they have just called me to do it.Anyway relax and hope for the best.what time is your ec?@Russkispy good luck for Tuesday,I guess you trigger will be on Sunday.@LillyLeaf good luck with your blood test.

Wesstywoo · 30/11/2018 20:14

@guio yes best to relax and hope for the best (although I feel a bit anxious about EC because I've never had any medical procedure before!). Mine is at 10am Monday, when is yours? My trigger is tomorrow too and tonight I'm taking the rest of the menopur I have left.

Good luck tomorrow @LillyLeaf

LillyLeaf · 30/11/2018 20:23

@Josie789 that sounds good, hopefully they'll 'coast' me. I really don't care about transfering this cycle, i just want to get to EC and to freeze something, my expections for this cycle are getting lower by the day.

@Russkispy that sounds great.

Good luck with all the triggers over the weekend.

Guio · 30/11/2018 20:32

@Wesstywoo mine at 10:30 Monday 😊.this is my second procedure,I had a lap 3 years ago for mild endo, one of the reasons I believe I can't get pregnant...anyway hope for the best.i will have menopur as well tomorrow before trigger.

Josie789 · 30/11/2018 21:03

Yea good luck everyone with the triggers, I may have my ET tomorrow need to see what the scan shows see if there is any OHSS.....

Russkispy · 30/11/2018 21:14

Thank you ladies. Trigger on Sunday night just before midnight and EC on Tuesday midday. Don't really know what to expect after the procedure. I appreciate everyone is different and if you've been through one before, how did you feel afterwards? Good luck to ones who triggers tomorrow!

AmyK18 · 01/12/2018 09:41

@Russkispy have had two now, it’s fine you will feel quite drowsy afterwards but it’s actually quite fun you don’t even remember falling asleep then next thing you know someone is shouting at you to wake up. I normally go a bit doo-lally and say really weird stuff straight after!! It will be very amusing to your partner. Good luck xxx
