Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Thanks guys! We're all sorted now, although he got a very long rant about telling me his plans on future haha! Think he's just stressed too and didn't think and I probably took thinks too personal too but back on track!

Peanut, congrats on getting started! How did your injection go today? Hopefully not as manic for you! Glad to hear you got your drugs so quickly too, that's really put my mind to rest and hopefully we will be the same.

BeaCat as far as I'm aware it's just this meeting and then we get started. I've done some last blood tests at the doctor a few weeks back so hopefully be good to go.

AniSL I didn't know there was such a thing as fertility massage but I'm desperate for a massage so I'll definitely look in to that, thanks!

It definitely does @Trying2bemum And although my BMI is 30.8 which is what it was for me to get my referral my clinic have advised me to lose a little bit more weight but have advised I have about 4-6 weeks to do it. Looking at that also will probably mean we won't start until at least October but could go into November especially with my cycles all over the place 😔

@winewinner well done on clearing the air and getting things sorted with your DH. If it makes you feel any better my husband drinks every day and we have plenty of heated discussions about it 🙈

Injection didn’t bruise today 👍🏼 and a way less hectic day. I do already have a 5 year old son so was busy running him around to parties but then managed to go to lunch with my old school friends while hubby had our son. Always a giggle 😁

Have a great rest of your weekend x

@peanut1980 good to hear the second day was a bit easier for you! Must be nice to be actually getting things going.

@winewinner fingers crossed for you then for this cycle. I'm still hoping I could start this one too 😬

@trying2bemum thanks for sharing your journey, it must be hard not knowing what the problem is but at least they are getting lots of eggs so hopefully it's just a matter of keep trying.

I've got guilt today as I indulged in a snickers, red wine and Chinese takeaway yesterday- seriously fell of the healthy eating band wagon!

Don’t feel guilty @beacat! It’s good to indulge in a bit of what you like every now and then x

Hi everyone,
IVF4 underway now and had my baseline scan today at CD3. Oestrogen blood result came back fine, lining ok, little follicles all sleepy and quiet, so all good to go with stimulation tomorrow!
I finally felt a little wave of excitement today - holding onto that feeling!

Ready for double injections tomorrow - Buserelin and Meriofert. Egg collection expected the week of 24th Sept.

Hope everyone's doing ok.

Botanica keeping positive is the best thing you can do.

Did you all see the article in BBC about how infertility id progressively becoming a major problem from male factor?

Report
Peanut1980 · 10/09/2018 21:52

Good luck @botanica

@anisl I was watching bbc news on male fertility this morning. Even though my tests all came back fine while my husbands count was low, our consultant still said he doubts it’s my husband. Now I know he’s the expert but I couldn’t help but feel it was a bit weird when the results were telling us my husbands sperm count was low which I would assume was the problem. His count was less than 5 mil x

It's such an I unknown and for me that's where the stress comes in. Although we're unexplained I can't help but think they're going to find a problem with me when it comes to starting ivf.

In more positive news, has anyone tried the Aberdeen Uni IVF calculator? It's given me real hope that IVF could actually work for us :)

Hi all, I just had my second appointment 2 hours long when they explain all! I am in a long protocol and I will start to take the pill at the end of October as I have holiday booked.I feel so overwhelmed right now with all the info in my head.in the next app they will show me how to do the stims but they didn't say if my partner has to come but I guess it will be better just in case I can't inject myself. Good luck @Botanica.

Just been for my appointment this morning too. We had the information night last night which was fine. I'm a google addict about it all so wasn't anything new but was nice to feel we weren't alone. A bit disappointed as due to the booking in, we can't get started until next month so I've to call day 1, start Norethisterone day 21 so basically another 5 weeks of waiting and then will likely be the start of November that we do our transfer. The clinic and all the staff at Aberdeen were amazing though and really reassuring!

Guio take your partner, sometimes the first injections can be the hardest and having your partner there to help you or adminster them can make it easier for you.

Guio · 11/09/2018 13:59

I will obligate him to come!😋.is there anyone here in the long protocol as well?they told me that I need to take the pill for 2 weeks at least before stimulation. The nurse said that short protocol is for women with pcos but I have read a variety of opinions.

Botanica · 11/09/2018 14:13

@Guio I'm back on long protocol again.

Did the first two cycles on long, and the last/third was on short protocol, which was less effective for me.

Hi @Botanica I hope this cycle goes well ☺.I have just read your previous post that you have started already.did you take the pill as well?I am glad I am in this group and I already knew many things about the process because it is a lot info to take on.They wrote everything but it is overwhelming.

BeaCat · 11/09/2018 14:38

@Guio and @winewinner sounds like we are all at similar stages having to wait until next cycle. Although I haven't heard any mention of taking a pill before. I will also be doing long protocol.
Doesn't it feel like you're just constantly waiting for something to happen?!
@Botanica sounds like you're making good progress, hope your injections were ok today.

Hello all,

I'll be on the long protocol (failed short cycle in June/July with no frosties). We have MFI with low ovarian reserve. I am 37. Changed clinics, new meds and feel ready for round 2.

Will be on the following medications

  1. Buserelin for down regging
  2. Merinol 300iu and Fostimon 150iu. for stimms
  3. Prednisolone 10mg (steroids for immune issues)
  4. Gonasi 10,000iu for trigger shot

These don't seem to be as popular as menapor/gonal f cetrotide (which I had last time) - putting faith in the consultant ;)

Will start down regging last week of September, all being well.

Hope everyone is doing well and xx

The tablet I'm taking is norithisterone. It's star dark for my clinic so you take that from CD21 for a week roughly for down regs so when I stop that I should bleed after a few days and go for Baseline Scan and start stimms on the first day of bleed, then 10-12 days of those before egg collection I think! They didn't say for definite which drugs I would be ok but I think it was cetrotide, menopur and Gonal-f they said is standard for them last night. Isn't it fascinating all the different drugs they use!

Good that there are a few of us all waiting until next cycle though, at least we will all have someone to chat with!

Hi @Notlateinthemorning I remember you from the June/July thread. So sorry it didn’t work out for you either. On to cycle 2 for us both 🤞

Hey @CritterTamer! Yes - hopefully lucky number two ... In the first round, ignorance was bliss...this time around, we can work with what we have learnt...what stage are you at? My meds are delivered tomorrow and consent signing on Thursday.

@FingersXssd83 - thanks for posting the survey...a little positivity boost ;)

Hey @Notlateinthemorning currently on testogel which is dong horrible things to my skin 😔 I start norethisterone on Friday with Endo scratch on Monday and baseline scan should be about a week after that. On short protocol so will start stims straight away then with EC due around October 8th.

NotLateInTheMorning · 11/09/2018 21:33

@CritterTamer - gosh so exciting! EC is less than a months away!

Hi hi,

How is everyone doing?

I had the meds delivered today and consent signing tomorrow!!

Clinic rang to ask if I had had chlamydia test - yes, but with home testing kit and they just send you a text with the result - but the clinic wants a lab report - when i spoke to GP last week he had no record of it - I might give him another call in the morning before my appointment.

Anyway - really just want to start injections now!!!

Hope you're all getting on OK whatever stage you're at xox

Hi @Notlateinthemorning - glad you’re feeling excited and positive 😊 I’m trying to recapture the excitement of the last cycle but having a down day today. Feeling misetable covered in big painful spots from the testogel and tired of choking down disgusting maca powder and spirulina drinks while DH is away with work and just sent me a photo of them all out having a great time with several bottles of red wine in front of him after him promising me faithfully he would stop drinking until after the EC....currently trying and failing to convince myself that my 20-30% chance of success this time is a good thing at the moment....
Sorry for the moaning - it does feel good to have somewhere to let it out when you’re having a bad day though 😊

Report
NotLateInTheMorning · 12/09/2018 21:56

@CritterTamer - this is most definitely the place to share your bad day. We've all been there and know exactly how it feels. No apologies needed at all.

It is such a demanding process - physically, financially and emotionally. We're meant to be positive stress-free all the time...but that is impossible.... sorry you're having a down day. have your tried alovera gel on the spots?

20-30 is exactly what I was told...which means that we could be the 2/3 women out of every 10 that could have a baby at the end...If I remember from last time, you had 2 blastocysts - that is really great...

Can you do something just for you this evening? A nice soak in the bath? A movie?

Sending you virtual hugs xox
