Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Botanica thats a real sad experience, sorry you have had to go through so much. Have you tried castor oil packs, hear it is good.

Are we allowed to set up a whatsapp group for cycle buddies or is this against MN policy?

So I’ve been quiet since my last post in August to introduce myself. My prescription is arriving tomorrow morning and I need to get started straight away. Eeekk! Good luck and baby dust to every one 🤞

Thanks @AniSL. Surely I'm due some good luck soon! 🙄.

I have just recently tried castor oil packs and need to get into a routine with them.
Have you found them helpful in any way?

I have also heard good things about arvigo abdominal massage for improving blood flow but have not yet tried it. Any one else tried it?

Good luck for tomorrow @Peanut1980.
Are you downregging or starting the stims?

Peanut1980 · 06/09/2018 19:33

Thanks @botanica. I’m down regging. Hoping I don’t get too many side affects 🤞 And I think my husband is buying a tin hat just incase 🤣

That sounds good to hear about the Sheffield clinic @Botanica, I've only had a couple of appointments so far but they seem very friendly.

Good luck tomorrow @Peanut1980! Let us know how it goes. My hubby is also scared about the apparent mood swings!

@Botanica I've tried castor oil packs but not since I've been referred for IVF but will probably do it again. I'm currently trying dry brushing to improve blood flow.

Thanks @beacat. When you do start your cycle? X

@peanut1980 I'm not sure yet. The doctor said it probably wouldn't be this cycle but the next one, which would make it towards the end of October.

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been quiet, I'm starting to panic that with my appointment on Tuesday and day 21 only a week later they might make me wait until next round! Also had my first big argument with hubby after he decided Tuesday this week would be a good idea to for the first time ever do our drinking instead of coming home from work without telling me, so we haven't spoken since Tuesday! I'm spa stressed out!

BeaCat if you have to wait until next cycle do you know a rough date? We might end up being similar times?

Peanut, how exciting! How are you feeling about everything? Do you have your full plan already?

Big welcome to everyone else Wii's joined the last few days! Hopefully be lots of good news from everyone soon?

WineWinner try not to stress yourself out too much, if you get stressed your uterus can get stressed and tighten. Its a rough journey for both of you, I dont think one night of having a drink is going to hurt much, remember your eggs that will be used have been developing over a year (most development in the last 90 days) and his sperm last 70 days.
DH had a couple of drinks before our cycle, our consultant told us it was ok, as long as it wasnt regular use.

I had a couple of fertility massages before our cycle, I enjoyed it and they told me my uterus was nice and relaxed and optimal for better implantation success. Castor oil packs were also great, my sis in law used after having her little one to make her AF regular again

@winewinner I had my appointment on Tuesday and my drugs are being delivered this morning which is my day 21 so we managed to get it sorted quickly. Fingers crossed you can do the same x

@WineWinner do you know what will be discussed in your meeting on Tuesday? The one I had the other day was the doctor talking through the process. I'm only on day 1 today so you'd think I'd be able to start this cycle but he said I still need to do the blood tests and then I presume we'll get shown how to do the injections. He said it depends on waiting lists. But if it's not this cycle then day 21 of the next will be approx 3rd week of October.

Can't blame you for being annoyed with the hubby, but might be best to make up just for your own sanity!

I am now officially waiting for AF to arrive so I can have my baseline scan, will then bw fiven my protocol and hopefully egg collection end of September beginning October. Hopefully we get some 5 dau blasts this time and will then have to wait for natural AF before discussing transfer.

Started my injections today. Did it myself. They’re not too bad to be honest. Kind of glide in 👌 Had a pretty hectic start. Drugs were delivered to my old address this morning so while I had my Mum (who doesn’t know I’m doing this) I had to get her in the car to collect a package of which we speak no name 🤣 Then back to mine where I really need to inject asap but my lovely mum stayed for a loooonnngggg time. In the end i kind of started putting her things together for her as a sign of it being time to go. Felt so mean. Anyway... day one done... 👀... let’s see what happens with these symptoms... 👀

Hope everyone is having a good day today. Happy Friday 😁

So husband just asked to see where I injected myself and I said he wouldn’t be able to see anything but I’ve bruised. Have I done something wrong? Does this happen to anyone else? Hoping this doesn’t happen with every injection 🙈

Peanut1980 its normal, my first injection there was no bruising but I did get bruising with some that followed. Nothing to be worried about

CritterTamer · 07/09/2018 20:31

@Peanut1980 I also bruised really badly after doing my very first injection - I also bent the needle! From the second one on I never bruised again though so i think it’s just a case of getting the hang of doing it 😊

@AniSL hello, we did get feedback. The first cycle (24 eggs, 11 embryos, 3 blasts) our fertilisation rate was poor and they should have done ICSI really. Our top quality embie did not survive thaw Sad

The second cycle we did ICSI but we got 12 eggs, 9 mature, 5 fertilised and 2 early blastocysts. Both were put back and BFN. The consultant said she thinks we were unlucky and said we might have a slight egg quality issue as we didn't make great embryos this time. It was a different stim and trigger for this cycle so I wonder if that's related. I am 34 and have fairly high AMH and a healthy lifestyle, so no reason for my eggs to be shit. But who knows!!

Welcome @brighteye3986, we've been TTC three years too. Sucks doesn't it? Good luck with your cycle

Welcome @FingersXssd83 sounds to me like there's no reason to think it won't work - unfortunately it's a bit of a lottery. Hopefully some reassurance and hand holding here will help you through. For what it's worth I've been through two cycles and physically don't find it too difficult - despite getting OHSS both times. It's more the emotional side that's tough, so make sure you're looking after yourself xx

@WineWinner I've had this problem with my husband too over the last few years. It's very very difficult to stomach when you're putting yourself through so much physically and mentally to start a family, and they are not making sacrifices too and giving it their all. I hope he sees this from your perspective
