Hey,

I've had my appointment through finally to start my first round of IVF. Our consultation is September and hoping if we start on CD21 (no idea if we will, just what I'm presuming from research) then we will be good to start just after the middle of the month. Anyone else the tentatively waiting for a September start?

Horrendous side effects of the Gonal, nausea, hot and cold chills and a seriously painful headache. My first cycle I got away with no side effects whatsoever so I guess its only fitting I get it.

Going to get some Gatorade

WineWinner · 23/09/2018 17:34

Hey lovely ladies! Sorry just catching up after a crazy week of trying to keep myself busy to male the time pass.

Great to hear that some of you are getting going now.

AniSL so sorry to hear you are having bad side effects this time. I hope it eases off soon for you and you're able to rest up.

Botanica Sorry to hear you are feeling anxious but I hope you are as well as can be and that it only takes the one. All my fingers are firmly crossed for you.

Crazyeyes amazing news!! Fingers crossed for tomorrow. How are you feeling about transfer?

Dia I hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday. Do you know what your schedule will be?

Ginandtonic we've booked a few days away too to try and chill before we get going. Are you both managing to relax and let your hair down?

Interesting chat about the vitamins too! I've just been taking pregnacare assuming it had everything we would need! My follicle scans have seemed strange to me but consultant said it was fine. Few months back I was only on day 8 and had a 18mm follicle and I don't ovulate until day 14 but they seemed to think that was ok! Last week I was ready to ovulate an the dominant ovary they couldn't see any other follicles as the dominant was so big but the other one had 9 after only having 7 last time... I don't understand Confused

Just waiting for AF which is due Tuesday to call the clinic and then getting started on norithisterone on day 21.

Hope everyone is doing well. We got this girls!! Thanks

Ladies hello! I’m about to start my first round of IVF and have no idea what to expect.
Have no-one I can talk to about it and so you are my only hope.
I’m 41, never been pregnant, tests are all fine so we’ve no idea why it hasn’t happened.
AMH is 6.6, although I only really have 1 ovary now due to a massive cyst on the other one. Had cyst removed successfully last year, but on recent scan that ovary was just really small and they couldn’t see anything in it, so I’m not counting on her to be helpful anymore...#RIPleftovary
I’m taking Norethisterone until next Friday and then (apparently) the fun begins.
I have questions :

  1. where do you all get your prescriptions from? Got a quote from Asda today for £1235 (😐) and wondering if you could recommend somewhere else?
  2. What supplements do you recommend? I take Pregnacare Conception and 300mg Ubiquinol daily. I also take Curcumin for a bad back. Should I add anything else? Thanks for listening. Good luck to you all ✨
AniSL · 23/09/2018 21:40

Welcome parksandrecreation, where are you undertaking your treatment? Our clinic has a contract with Stork fertility so we bought all meds from them as we qualified for the discount. I have heard Asda is one of the cheapest though

In terms of supplements, aleaus check with your clinic but many will tell you they swear by a book called it starts with an egg. For me I am on Folate, Ubiquinol, Glutathione, Inositol and L-Arginine, my clinic were against multi vit. Some women benefit from DHEA but always check with your clinic on that one

ParksAndRecreation · 23/09/2018 21:59

Thank you!
I'm at the Wolfson Clinic in Hammersmith Hospital.
They asked me what I was taking already and didn't seem unduly worried about what I said.
I will email the consultant (Dr Salim - anyone know him?) and check.
Have just added Vit.D back in too as it's starting to get dark....

TheGlitterFairy · 24/09/2018 12:23

Hi all, I'm about to start a short flare protocol - this will be out 3rd cycle - no success as yet. Cycle 1 resulted in an embryo transfer; cycle 2, we went for something different and planned to freeze the embryos then have a break and do a FET. Sadly, didn't get to a transfer so here we are. I've been taking the pill for the last 3 weeks ahead of starting the treatment - and have a baseline scan tomorrow. Scared but excited too!
We've tried a different protocol each time so hoping that 3rd is the charm! Fingers crossed!

I'm 40, have stage 4 endo with a couple of ovarian cysts thrown in for good measure (that are currently being ignored!) and a blocked fallopian tube - as a result of the endo - oh and a low ovarian reserve too (a result of surgery for endo some years ago). Not a pretty picture but we are determined to do all we can while we're able to.

ParksAndRecreation - I'm at the Wolfson also, and Dr Salim is my consultant too.....feel free to DM me if you'd like? He has me on a variety of supplements: pregnacare conception, vit d, CoQ10, Vit B and fish oil tables (large doses of all!) - but I guess this could change depending on your own circumstance etc.

Good luck to all with your cycles x

ginandtonicformeplease · 24/09/2018 15:35

@AniSL I hope you're feeling a bit better - side effects are a bugger really, they seem rather unpredictable.

@ParksAndRecreation I get my meds through Pharmasure. I don't know if they're the cheapest but during EC I was on very low doses so it didn't work out too badly. Our clinic said expect to pay anywhere between £1k and £3k for meds. Until we got the protocol through and knew the exact amount it made it pretty difficult to budget!

I'm back from our break and back to real life now. AF is due imminently and have the new protocol ready. I'm starting on 6 progynova a day - last time I started on 2 and they didn't make a difference, so higher dose straight away this time. Hopefully that'll cut down on the number of scans I need and it'll be straight forward (if anything in IVF ever is).

Peanut1980 · 24/09/2018 16:14

4 days into stims and had a scan today. They could see 9 on my right ovary (come on right ovary) and only 2 on my left for now. I’d prepared myself for there being few on my left ovary as it’s a lazy b#tch! 🤣 All currently measuring around 10mm. Just been called and asked to increase my dose of Gonal to 300mls. Let’s supercharge those little follicles!! 💪

AniSL · 24/09/2018 16:38

Ginandtonic thankfully all side effects have gone, looks likd the Gatorade did the job.

Had a day 5 scan today, follies are growing but very slowly, now have 12.9 on my right and 11.4 on left, also have increased numbers in both. Start Cetrotide tonight, another scan on Wednesday and will then know when I need to fly out

Crazyeyes3 · 24/09/2018 18:23

So I had my transfer today which went fine but there were no embryos suitable for freezing which is very disappointing given how positive everything had been going. I now feel really stressed that we have gone all through this for one embryo. I know it only takes one but I have it in my head that the first time is a practice run and isn’t going to work. The next 2 weeks are going to be torture.

ckc45d10 · 24/09/2018 18:53

A few things to note about vitamin D: get your levels regularly tested so that you and your doctor can work together on the appropriate dosage of vitamin D. Also, when taking higher levels of vitamin D, vitamin K2 is also needed to work synergistically with the vitamin D. Magnesium can also become depleted if on higher doses of vitamin D for more extended periods of time. So, magnesium may be helpful to add. Ubiquinol, or CoQ10, can help to support fertility as mentioned. However, look for a form that is water and fat-soluble for better absorption.

CritterTamer · 24/09/2018 21:06

Baseline scan and stims/down regulation started today here. Also had an acupuncture session and a blood test so feeling like a pincushion tonight 😊. Welcome to the new ladies and fx for you Crazyeyes 🤞

AniSL · 24/09/2018 21:36

Fingers crossed for u crazyeyes3

ParksAndRecreation · 24/09/2018 21:43

Good luck @crazyeyes3 Rooting for you. Rooting for all of us!

BeaCat · 24/09/2018 21:55

@crazyeyes3 try not to be down about the number, at least you've got one in there. Try to think positive, it could be the one!

Peanut1980 · 24/09/2018 22:08

@crazyeyes oh wow! Well done on your ET. Wishing you lots of baby dust for your embryo. Think positive thoughts about that cute little embryo getting all snug and embedded in there. Good luck 😘😘😘

Peanut1980 · 26/09/2018 14:27

Hi everyone 👋 How’s it going? 6 days on stims and I’m soooooo tired. I had to go back to bed for a couple of hours today and actually feel like I could sleep alllllllllllll day. Hubby is being really supportive. I have another scan on Friday. Looking forward to hearing how my follicles are growing and if upping the Gonal has supercharged them 💪🤞

TeaJenny81 · 27/09/2018 07:46

Good morning all

CritterTamer I had my baseline scan on Monday and started stims too.. Reflexology, acupressure and a fertility massages for me this time round first time for everything..

AniSL how did your scan go yesterday?

Crazyeyes3 our first cycle was successful with no additional embryos for freezing, fingers crossed. PUPO

Peanut1980 good luck for your scan tomorrow.

AniSL · 27/09/2018 08:10

TeaJenny81 how are you finding the stims, how was baseline scan?

Peanut1980 great ur partner is supportive

So I had day 7 scan yesterday, follies are powering up. Now have 12 on right with one 17mm, 2 15mm, 2 14mm, 2 10mm and rest between 6 and 10. Left has increased to 20 follies, one 17, 2 16s and 2 15s, rest are 10s. Next scan on Saturday, may have EC on Monday

FingersXssd83 · 27/09/2018 08:19

Morning everyone, I'll be joining you soon. My bleed is due 12 Oct and I'll be on a short protocol. It's really helpful to lurk on this thread to see what I have in store!

Been getting very anxious about starting. Trying my very best to remain calm but it's difficult.

We're unexplained. As part of my initial tests my AMH was 18.6, I had a lining of 8.8mm and they could see 16 follicles. I'm 35 and my DH is 38.

What I don't understand is when I start on the drugs, will I potentially get more follicles or do they remain static?

I'm trying to work out whether we have good odds of getting a decent number of eggs.

Thanks xx

TeaJenny81 · 27/09/2018 08:48

AniSL stims are not too bad at the moment, a bit tired just want to go to bed when I get in from work. A few bruises all ready... I found taking the Norethisterone awful, really weepy, irritable, snappy. So glad I'm not taking that anymore feeling better already. Scan was fine, 6 follicles on one side 7/8 on the other. Better than last cycle (6:2). Just got to wait and see and hope for the best. How are you finding it?

AniSL · 27/09/2018 09:55

TeaJenny81 my first couple of days was awful with side effects, nausea, dizziness, bad headaches. I went out and bought some gatorade and I have been fine since.

Peanut1980 · 27/09/2018 10:19

Thanks @Teajenny81

@anisl your follicles sound amazing. Are you finding it uncomfortable down below? I’m pretty uncomfortable down there and I don’t have as many follicles as you (2 and 9). I feel like I need to poop a lot and very bloated. Sorry if that’s tmi! Haven’t been DTD much and hubby has been very patient. Told him we can today but he has to be quick and gentle 🤣🙈

TeaJenny81 · 27/09/2018 10:28

Fingersxssd83

Last cycle in May I had 8 follicles identified at baseline scan, after stims I had 11 follicles aspirated, egg collection. 5 eggs were injected (ICSI) only 1 fertilised.

First cycle in 2014 I had 7 follicles aspirated 5injected and 5 fertilised 2 grade 2 embryos were transferred and 1 baby.

Everyone's experience is so different and you can't predict what the outcome will be. Relax and be good to yourself. Xxx

TeaJenny81 · 27/09/2018 10:32

AniSL now you say it, I have had a pretty constant headache.

Peanut1980 we were told to abstain from DTD during stims...
