IVF July/August 2018

Hey,

So like the title says really is anyone about to start an IVF cycle in July or August?

This is my first cycle and I’m excited/petrified!!! I would love to have some cycle buddies to chat to and for support. It’s all self funded as due to the postcode lottery we get no NHS cycles.

Just a little background. I’m 34, have been TTC for 2 and a bit years now, initial diagnosis PCOS and I had 7 cycles of Clomid which resulted in me falling pregnant in December but sadly I had a MMC at 11 weeks. I have since been diagnosed with endometriosis following an unexpectedly low AMH result. My right ovary is has a significant cyst.

I have an endometrial scratch on Monday and will begin down reg on Monday night. I’m a nurse so have no fear of needles but not sure how I’ll manage with injecting myself.

Really hope to have some company on this journey xxx

Ive had period like cramps (on and off) nothing major. But is this normal? Or a bad thing?

Elaydee · 25/08/2018 11:48

@aandre26 I’ve had it both with a positive and not. Annoyingly pregnancy and period seem to be exactly the same before you test! Good luck, thinking of all you testing soon xx

Elaydee · 25/08/2018 11:54

@aandre26 but yes I had cramps the day after my positive so 10dpo or so

aandre26 · 25/08/2018 12:20

@Elaydee i know this may sound like a silly question, but is that the day of egg collection?

Elaydee · 25/08/2018 12:46

@aandre26 Sorry, no so day of ‘ovulation’ would have been the egg collection. So 10 days after that. 10(days past ovulation)

aandre26 · 25/08/2018 12:50

Ooopsss sorry i meant to say if it starts from day of egg collection, @Elaydee if thats the case then my 10th day was yesterday, so maybe thats a good sign? Im gradually losing the will lol. Xxx

Sunny1984 · 25/08/2018 13:43

@aandre26 I have had cramping on and off since egg collection I think it’s partly the progesterone to be honest. So hard not to think into everything isn’t it!
When I did fall pregnant I had cramps and was sure my period was coming so when I tested was very surprised! But then the month before starting IVF I had exactly the same and got my hopes up and it was BFN!! Not long now until test day!

I’m about to go buy a test now and try and not use it until Monday!!

@Sunny1984 ive just got round boots, superdrugs, home bargains etc price matching. Was hard not to buy one though. Think i will buy one tomorrow.
As for cramping its annoying just not knowing whats going on in my body. Hopefully its a good sign though.
Do you think you will last until Monday? Xxx

Ladies,
Is there a difference between clear blue and early response preg test?
Even though weve tried unsuccessfully for years i never really needed to test....so now im debating which to get ? Maybe both?

Elaydee · 25/08/2018 18:30

@aandre26 but the first response 6 days earlier, they’re the best ones. Cheapest from Amazon.

aandre26 · 26/08/2018 00:36

@Elaydee thank you. I will order one. Exciting time ahead i think x x x

Elaydee · 26/08/2018 16:42

Does anyone have any info on how long to take progesterone for? I’ve lost my information sheet 🙄

aandre26 · 26/08/2018 20:35

Mine says to continue to take it for 2 months or so after positive test. Mine says to take it until the doctors/nurses say other wise x x

Elaydee · 26/08/2018 22:03

@aandre26 ok thanks! I remember mine saying ‘stop taking progesterone now regardless of a positive result or not’ and for the life of me, I can’t remember at all when that was!!!!!!!!

aandre26 · 26/08/2018 22:09

I would double check with your clinic tomorrow. It might be different for everyone. I read somewhere the progesterone is to help thicken the lining of your womb, i dont think it would be too harmful to continue but i would definitely double check though! X xx

aandre26 · 27/08/2018 09:54

@Sunny1984 good luck!!! Hope its a positive x x x

Sunny1984 · 27/08/2018 09:55

So I was patient and held out to test until this morning! In complete shock as I was sure it hadn’t worked, got a BFP 🌈. So very early and I’m very cautiously excited after my Miscarriage last time but for now it’s one hurdle overcome!

aandre26 · 27/08/2018 12:20

Sunny1984 · 27/08/2018 12:22

@aandre26 I honestly thought the exact same thing. I did 3 tests as I just didn’t believe it!
Stay strong I can honestly say I’m really pleased I waited!
@A280 when is your test date?

OP posts:
A280 · 27/08/2018 12:33

@sunny1984 I’ve still got some time- 5th September! Looks like its going to be the slowest 9 days! How many days after your transfer was your test date? Have you told DH yet?
