IVF July/August 2018

Hey,

So like the title says really is anyone about to start an IVF cycle in July or August?

This is my first cycle and I’m excited/petrified!!! I would love to have some cycle buddies to chat to and for support. It’s all self funded as due to the postcode lottery we get no NHS cycles.

Just a little background. I’m 34, have been TTC for 2 and a bit years now, initial diagnosis PCOS and I had 7 cycles of Clomid which resulted in me falling pregnant in December but sadly I had a MMC at 11 weeks. I have since been diagnosed with endometriosis following an unexpectedly low AMH result. My right ovary is has a significant cyst.

I have an endometrial scratch on Monday and will begin down reg on Monday night. I’m a nurse so have no fear of needles but not sure how I’ll manage with injecting myself.

Really hope to have some company on this journey xxx

Hi All.
I have been lying low the last week.
I had FET last Thursday so am 6dpt. Trying not to look to much into symptoms - had bloating, some cramp, twinges, back ache, PMS symptoms, mild headaches and mood swings ( nice right!). All are possibly due to progesterone pessaries or estrogen. Today I had a blood test to check renal function with me taking aspirin (have one semi functioning kidney). I’ve had nausea all day. This is new to me. I’ve eaten (tried) but still feeling sick and whoosy. Has anyone else had this sudden onset of nausea ?.
Blood test at clinic booked for next Tuesday...
Hope you are all well xxx

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 12:44

@positivethinkingrainbow thanks!! I know, it’s gone so fast, but also so slow haha.

Springb0ks · 15/08/2018 15:11

Yey for your little embaby @aandre26, I am honestly keeping everything crossed for you that it sticks! How are you feeling today?
@elaydee I will be testing like a maniac throughout the 2WW.
@hunter, sorry you are feeling ill. Baby dust to you.
I'm feeling better today, starting to get back to some kind of normality. Started cyclogest which, I've been on before, and I'm not doing too badly on them so far. I got 24 eggs yesterday, 20 were mature, 17 fertilised. Bloods showed no obvious risk of OHSS so I'm (fingers crossed) good to transfer if everything goes to plan.

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 15:17

All done! I think this was my least favourite part of the whole process, so I’m glad it’s over. Wasn’t painful... just awkward and a bit uncomfortable.

We put one 4AA embryo in and have named it Bubbles for now, because that’s what it looked like 😍

A280 · 15/08/2018 15:18

@sunny1984 thanks for the tip of drinking a pint of milk! Ive been doing so since Friday and definitely seen an improvement on growth on the 6 follicles! I hope they continue to grow as egg collection is planned for the weekend!

@elaydee good luck for the egg transfer! Hope you are feeling much better now!

@springb0ks glad you are recovering! Wow that’s amazing numbers!!

@hunter14 sorry you are so poorly! Hope it passes soon

Springb0ks · 15/08/2018 15:27

@elaydee another hurdle over! Well done! Come on little bubbles!

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 15:31

@Elaydee exciting!!! Rooting for team Bubbles!!!!
What did you do during the days waiting for this moment? And why was it uncomfortable? Just the prodding around etc?

@Springb0ks fingers crossed! And bring on day 5. I feel okay. Tiniest bit of discomfort every now and again but i guess that was to be expected. I think im on the same pessaries as you, theyre okay so far.

Just wondering if theres anything i should or can do before transfer tomorrow? Anyone have any tips?

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 15:44

@springb0ks thats an amazing results, you must be thrilled! Glad i'm not the only crazy tester here :P

@aandre26 Uh... not much apart from working really. That was enough to exhaust me. The progesterone is sending me to sleep on the sofa every night around 9 when I usually go to bed around 11-12. It was just like a smear test that went on for 15 mins. He struggled to get the tube up my cervix so there was lots of moving the speculum around. The uncomfortable bit was the full bladder and the nurse pressing down on my tummy with the ultrasound. Seriously wanted to wee SO BAD! I think I drank around 600-700mls of water in an hour and that was enough.

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 15:58

@aandre26 no tips from me, just dont drink alcohol and get lots of rest! Perfect excuse to put your feet up and have all the chores done for you!

My information from the hospital says 'after transfer you can go back to normal routine. You can bathe, shower and do normal daily activities. It is best to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. You can resume intercourse as soon as you like.'

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 16:18

@Elaydee my hubby will live the last bit 😂
Thank you. I might do a phoebe from friends and go home with my legs in the air for most of the day!! Cant hurt right??
I remember the scan to check fallopian tubes with a full bladder and that was uncomfortable enough!! Im just hoping for the best.
Have you done anything today? Hope hubby is treating you like a queen x x x

Jenbot78 · 15/08/2018 16:23

Hi all, been reading all your posts but not had time to write anything! Trying to keep busy, now too busy! Went for scan, lining fine and all good to go next Thursday (week tomorrow) for transfer. Eek...not looking forward to 2ww...Elaydee congrats on being PUPO. Hunter not too long to wait to test now! How are people’s energy levels on progesterone? Wondering if I will take a hit on Saturday when I start...

Sunny1984 · 15/08/2018 16:24

@Springb0ks wow that is amazing!! Will you get another update tomorrow?

@Hunter14 sorry you are feeling so rough. I know when I’ve had cyclogest before it’s made me feel quite nauseous. When will you test?

@Elaydee amazing!! Will they freeze the others?
Love the name come on baby Bubbles!! I’m glad it’s not just me that named them!! I’m pretty sure I’ll be testing early too!!

@A280 that’s great news, my clinic says drink a pint of milk after collection and post transfer, apparently the fat globules are good!

@aandre26 yesterday I just had a nice day and went for dinner with DH. I don’t think there is anything you can do. What time is transfer tomorrow?

My transfer went really well, the speculum being in for so long was uncomfortable but otherwise fine, the consultant did say mine was the easiest transfer he had done in a long time so that may have helped!! I have Bert and Maggie on board one 4 cell and one 5 cell both top grade so that made me happy. Only issue I think I may have was the lining was on the thinner side but the Dr said it was still within what they like just lower end so has added in oestrogen tablets!

Hi, hope I'm not gatecrashing here! I'm new to this forum but am on my 3rd ivf cycle with de so can't relate to all the egg collection 😕 but have immeasurable gratitude for my donor. I had my et on Saturday and everything went perfectly, transfered an 5d AA embryo. This wait is agony though! Especially as I am off work until September!!!!

KathyJ78 · 15/08/2018 16:29

Any tips during he 2ww? Xx

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 16:33

@Sunny1984 they will call me in the morning around 9.30 to tell me how its developed/if it survived the night. Then they will tell a time to go in, approx 12/1 depending how busy they are she said. As long as they give us the two hours to get down there lol.
Have faith our bodies are always changing sl your lining might get thicker. Come on bert and maggie!!!
So that means we will both have transferred at day 2. Im hoping the very best for you!!!! Enjoy pupo!!! Fingers crossed x x x

CupcakeVampire · 15/08/2018 16:52

Congratulations for all those PUPO Smile.

I remember vast swathes of tiredness and sore boobs on progesterone. However, looking on the bright side of this, the 2WW should pass much faster if you end up sleeping way more Grin.

The embie on my first cycle was called Peanut so it's good to know I'm not alone in my need to name things.

Hunter14 · 15/08/2018 17:09

Thank you for the lovely messages. It’s really sweet. This is journey for sure. I am trying not to get my hopes up with this sudden onset of nausea but as I’m day 6 now, I am hoping that it’s a good sign. I’ve been on both progesterone pessaries and estrogen for over two weeks so surely if I were going to feel nauseous as a result, it would have happened by now. We will have to see. Back to work tomorrow and test Tuesday...
Baby dust to you all....

KathyJ78 · 15/08/2018 17:58

@Hunter14 I too was on estrogen and progesterone and never felt sick so hopefully it is an early sign for you 😊

Hunter14 · 15/08/2018 20:01

@kathyJ78 - thank you. I do hope so. I am scared to get my hopes up. This is my first FET and second IVF treatment. Safe to say that I did not have these symptoms the first time.

It is so helpful to be able to hop on here and ask questions / get support and talk to others going through the same 2WW or collection etc.

KathyJ78 · 15/08/2018 20:22

Definitely, it's hard not to question every twinge, cramp and ache....is it good or bad!!! Also @Hunter 14 I think the chances are slightly better with frozen embryos. When is your test date? Mine isn't until a week sat 😩😩!!! (Although I am a serial tester!!)

Hunter14 · 15/08/2018 20:40

@kathyJ78 - my test date is next Tuesday for bloods. I will see if i am feeling the same tomorrow. Cant stomach food and this feeling of nausea is very uncharacteristic of me. It is so hard not to get hopes up.
When will you test first?

KathyJ78 · 15/08/2018 22:13

@Hunter14 I tested after I had my trigger shot and then the day after transfer so I knew when it was out of my system!!! (Not a control freak at all 😂) so now it's completely negative I know if I have a positive it isn't 100% the shot! Does that sound mad! I think it's just a form of trying to stay in control when everything really is out of you control! Take my hat of to anyone who can wait for official test day! X

Elaydee · 16/08/2018 08:29

@KathyJ78 when did the trigger leave your system. That is my plan too and 1dpt today there is a faint but very clear second line on a cheapie.

aandre26 · 16/08/2018 09:13

Morning Ladies!!!

I dont want to jinx anything yet. But....we survived another night!!! Et happening at 1pm. Embie got stronger! Im so relieved! Still a long way to go but one step at a time!!!

Elaydee · 16/08/2018 09:17

@aandre26, go embie!!! Good luck for transfer today!
