IVF July/August 2018

Hey,

So like the title says really is anyone about to start an IVF cycle in July or August?

This is my first cycle and I’m excited/petrified!!! I would love to have some cycle buddies to chat to and for support. It’s all self funded as due to the postcode lottery we get no NHS cycles.

Just a little background. I’m 34, have been TTC for 2 and a bit years now, initial diagnosis PCOS and I had 7 cycles of Clomid which resulted in me falling pregnant in December but sadly I had a MMC at 11 weeks. I have since been diagnosed with endometriosis following an unexpectedly low AMH result. My right ovary is has a significant cyst.

I have an endometrial scratch on Monday and will begin down reg on Monday night. I’m a nurse so have no fear of needles but not sure how I’ll manage with injecting myself.

Really hope to have some company on this journey xxx

Thanks @aandre26, with you every step of the way today. Let's rock this egg collection! Sending you positive egg vibes and hope you are feeling better today xx

aandre26 · 14/08/2018 09:37

What time is your surgery @Springb0ks
Im on a small drip after my reaction to the trigger. Only person on the ward to have had as bad a reaction to this. Mines scheduled for 11.30ish.....
I predict 4 eggs in total for me.

Good luck hunny!!! Xxx

Springb0ks · 14/08/2018 09:54

Oh @aandre, hang on in there. Do you feel any better? They are predicting 15 for me but I have a feeling it won't be that many. Here now and on the ward, expecting to go down at about 10.45. Good luck egg collection twin!! Smile

Elaydee · 14/08/2018 10:25

So sorry @aandre26 and @springb0ks that you’re suffering so much. I can honestly say I’ve been so lucky and had zero happen to me except a bit of discomfort after EC. Funny how it affects us all differently.

@aandre26 you asked how long I’d been trying. Since June last year.
June 2017 - pregnant first try, MC
August 2017 - ectopic lost left tube
October 2017 - early MC (5weeks)
December 2017 - ectopic, went up good tube, implanted in left Fallopian tube stump and ruptured at 5.5 weeks. Lost 6 pints of blood and nearly died. They think the internal bleeding blocked my remaining tube, so here I am getting IVF. I have over a 10% chance of having another ectopic too! My next pregnancy will be my fifth, with no children yet.

Sunny1984 · 14/08/2018 10:57

@Springb0ks and @aandre26 sorry you’ve both suffered so much from the trigger. Really hope EC goes well for you both xx

@elaydee what a journey you've had to get here, hope the rest of the road is smooth and filled with happiness.

I'm out of egg collection and in recovery. Was no where near as bad as expected, all very chilled out and the doctors and nurses were first class. I got a total of 24 eggs- dear me. Had to beg them not to put a needle into my uterus to check another few follicles Blush Waiting to see if I need to do anything extra as I'm at risk of OHSS, but I'm feeling okay.

Hope my wee twin is getting on just fine @aandre26!

Elaydee · 14/08/2018 13:37

Wowsers, 24 eggs! With my PCOS I was expecting the same, but only got 7. I was super paranoid about OHSS, but clearly I don't have to worry now!

Fingers crossed for fertalisation!!

CupcakeVampire · 14/08/2018 14:16

That's a good haul @springb0ks and fingers crossed you will get lots that fertilise.

Sunny1984 · 14/08/2018 14:44

Wow @Springb0ks that is amazing!

So sorry @Elaydee you’ve had such a rough time.

I’ve not had amazing news today but trying to keep positive. We only had 2 fertilise (I’m thinking I must have bad eggs!!) they have decided the best plan is to transfer the 2 tomorrow on day 2. I’m apprehensive as I’d rally hoped to have a couple more as a back up or at least make it to a day 5 transfer. I know I have to trust them, they know what’s best!

Elaydee · 14/08/2018 15:02

@sunny1984 Exactly, they’re the experts... and not emotionally attached, so will be doing what is best! We are transfer twins now! I’m 2pm tomorrow... can’t believe it’s almost here! Will you take any time off?

aandre26 · 14/08/2018 15:03

Thank you everyone for your good luck wishes! Im on some extra anti sickness meds that the lovely nurses gave me.

Wow ec twin @Springb0ks 24 eggs is amazing!!! Im so pleased for you!!
How do you feel now?

We only got 4 eggs and one didnt survive so left we 3.
Not sure how to feel with that. Mixed emotions. Will know better tomorrow whats happening.
All i need is one little angel to make it through!!!

@Elaydee Your are one amazing woman!! I dont know how you have coped with everything. But to still be here telling your story and still trying is amazing!! You are a true inspiration to all women out there!! 😘😘

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 15/08/2018 08:25

@Elaydee on wow is the transfer today?? xxx

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 08:43

@aandre26 haha thanks. I don’t see it that way... it just is what it is and this is my journey. Definitely made me stronger for IVF though. I do look back and think “wow, did that happen to ME? Am I that unlucky 1% statistic? Why me?!”

@positivethinkingrainbow yes! Today at 2pm! I’m trying not to think about it too much and I’m actually more curious about how many have made it to day 5. I really want a couple frozen!

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 08:44

@aandre26 it only takes one! A nurse was telling me after collection that one woman had one egg collected and it made it all the way and she has a baby girl now :-)

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 09:10

@Elaydee good luck for 2pm. Rooting for you and your embabies!!
You have a strong head on your shoulders. Your other half is one lucky man to have you!!!
The nurse said the same to me. It does only take one, just a bit frustrated as we were told 7 in the scan....got to there yesterday and went down to 4 on the chart so im a bit confused by that. It is was it is though!
I get the call today to see if any survived. 🤞🏼🙏🏼

Sunny1984 · 15/08/2018 09:12

@Elaydee how are you feeling about transfer today? I’m nervous/excited!! Have they updated you how your embryos are doing today or will you find out when you get there?

@aandre26 and @Springb0ks how are you feeling today? When will you get an update?

@aandre26 I think it’s hard to start with when you don’t get as many as you’d hoped. I know I was really disappointed yesterday that we only had 2 fertilise but now I’m just putting all my faith into these 2 little embryos! Have they said they will do a 2 or 3 day transfer?

How’s everyone else doing?

Sunny1984 · 15/08/2018 09:13

Sorry @aandre26 Cross post with you!

@Elaydee are you having time off after transfer? I’m off work for another week anyway which I’m very grateful for!

@Sunny1984 hello!
It is hard especially as i suffered so much with the trigger that it made me feel like id done something wrong or worse if it was all worth it. (Please dont get me wrong i would do it all over again if it means getting my dream. But it was horrendous on monday.)
I had hope to freeze some too.
But we shall see how it all goes. I have faith! Im staying positive.
They will let me know today. I might have the transfer tomorrow - depending if any survived. If its tomorrow they will put two back in.
If we make it to sunday, then just the one.
When do you transfer? Sorry my memories so bad recently. X x

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 09:30

@aandre26 I know the feeling. I had 23 follicles, thought I was going strong. On the day only 7 collected. Which is good, but very different from 23!!! Fingers crossed for good news from your phone call this morning 😘

@Sunny1984 I’m finding out when I get there, so will be a surprise! Not taking any time off after, but I am working from home the rest of the week. The nurse said there is no evidence either way and if it will stick, it will stick. Luckily my manager is on holidays so no need to update/justify to him every day as to why I’m not at my desk. Will be thinking of you today!

Sunny1984 · 15/08/2018 09:31

@aandre26 I completely feel the same! I suffered with the Down reg and Stims and yesterday morning when they said it was only the 2 that had fertilised I did feel a bit deflated, again I would do it all again I was just so hoping for one in the freezer so I wouldn’t need all the drugs again if these 2 little beans don’t stick!!
I’m having both transferred today at day 2. I think they only do that if there aren’t many embryos. They said yesterday they are better in and they looked good!
I’m a bit worried as I’m still a bit achy from EC!!
What time should you get the call?

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 09:35

Here is an interesting question for you all... will anyone test early? My test date is 26 August but I will be testing early.

Only reason is because of my ectopics history. I want to test trigger out of my system, then test a few days later and if it’s positive to see if it fluctuates. My last ectopic ruptured at 5.5 weeks which is incredibly early and I’d like to avoid that again TBH. My first ectopic was positive 9dpo, negative by 12 dpo and then tested again 20dpo after bleeding and it was so dark!

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 15/08/2018 09:49

@aandre26 Sorry to hear that the meds have been making you feel rotten, keeping everything crossed you get the news you want today!!!

@elaydee will be thinking of you today, I still can not believe how fast the whole process is, I am not wait to start. This month feels like the longest ever. Wishing you all the best for today and fingers crossed for some 5 dayers too !!!

@Sunny1984 Best of lucky for the transfer of your winning two today, staying positive is the best state of mind to be in!!!

Thinking of you all, sending POSITIVE VIBES for the outcomes we all want xxxx

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 11:00

Hello ladies
@PostiveThinkingRainbow thank you!! Please remind me where youre at in your cycle/progress? Im sure ive got ivf brain (not baby brain) memory is shot.

@Sunny1984 good luck with the transfer!! Sending you all the sticky thoughts in the world! Fingers and toes crossed!!!! Let me know how you get on please!!!

(Sorry if i missed anyone)

@Elaydee i havent thought about the testing side of thing yet. As i wasnt sure wed get there. But will let you know when and if we test.

So here it is ladies; one survived! ONE EMBABY!!
They will implant that in tomorrow IF it survived over night.
Anyone know the chances of it failing after its fertilising?
Fingers toes and boobies crossed!! Im staying optimistic. Xxxx

Elaydee · 15/08/2018 11:09

@aandre26! YES! All you need is one.

Difficult to say... I've googled loads and seen different for everyone. Me personally, all 7 made it to day 3. Of those, half are good. I've seen other women with 20+ and 17 or so make it to day 5. As I said earlier, the nurse said of one lady who only had one egg, which made it the whole way :)

aandre26 · 15/08/2018 11:43

@Elaydee i have hope this ones a fighter!! Its all in the hands of science and god!!!
Xxx
