DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far Sad

@thisisouryrfx18 12 months is crazy!! Are there any other local hospitals that may have a shorter wait time? I'd go private if you can afford to. Not sure if it's true but I heard that you can have one private cycle and won't affect you NHS intilment.. don't hold me to that though.

@LillyLeaf I know how you feel. I have told a few close friends now about what we are going through as I got fed up of the comments. I know the mean well.... But I brought me down so much. I still feel some of them don't really get it though!

LillyLeaf · 23/08/2018 22:08

Another friend who knows we're going through this and apparently they took a while to get pregnant (she's just had the baby) says things like 'oh but you haven't been trying that long', I was trying when she was and during the pregnancy and after so it has actually been a while.

@TTC73 Hiya, we are now starting our IVF journey in the next coming weeks. We went through all the tests, scans, etc, and everything is fine with us fertility wise, however we have been trying to conceive for over 5 years now with no luck, we are going down the IVF route, as I'm sure you know how emotionally draining it can be!
As far as I've been told so far, (waiting to go for a seminar for full details) is that you do have to inject yourself daily, however I don't know if its true or not, but if you want you can go to the clinic/hospital and they will do it for you! I was a bit of a needle-phone at the start of this journey, but after all the fertility and hormone tests, I kind of have got over it a little bit now, although doing it myself will freak me out I think! But you're sure to get used to it... if not, its worth It!
Wishing you and your other half all the luck and happiness.. I really know how difficult and unfair it feels xx

@LillyLeaf i know shes your friend and u love her but i think i would snap big time with her, soo unsympathetic of her to say that she should know from ttc herself that a wk feels like a mnth. I keep thinking about my appt yest i cant get it out of my head! The doctor said we would be given ivf where the sperm was put in directly instead of the lab routine as they werent getting gd success rates that way( im confused tbh). She said this is what they normally do if u have issues with the sperm but she knows my OHs SA results came back with high sperm count and high motility. She really wasnt helpful at all at explaining everything to us i think thats why i feel like ive had this massive news dumped on me and no one to answer my questions.

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/08/2018 13:56

Do yous think i should make an appt with my gp and see if she can answer our questions a bit more?

Miss83 · 24/08/2018 15:17

@thisisouryrfx18 do it!! If you get it explained better and makes you feel better then I would go have a chat with your GP. You have nothing to lose! Write your questions down before... I forgot loads of stuff I wanted to ask.

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/08/2018 19:44

@Miss83 i tried to write stuff down for the gynae but like i said she wasnt very approachable hopefully my gps better. Ive got a list to do now lol im going to get tested for stis me and OH i think the chances are very slim tbh but i suppose it only takes one time, and try and find out about testing for amh or ahm whatever the hell u call it!

SpringLake · 25/08/2018 08:15

Hello again. Still waiting for the first consultant appointment here. Not long to go! Just wanted to say that the STI check I did a while back was easier than expected. The waiting room was full of embarrassed students, and the nurse just gave me a couple of those 'DNA' cotton swabs and told me where to use them, and left me to it!

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/08/2018 10:32

@SpringLake thanx do u think online do it at home ones r ne gd?

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/08/2018 11:22

I had to book an appointment at the gp with s nurse for chlamydia swab. Just standard before fertility referral. Have they said which sti?

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/08/2018 12:09

@squirrelnutkins1 they still havent mentioned it but im taking matters into my own hands hun im just thinking dnt want it to b yet another thing down the line that holds treatment up x

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/08/2018 12:44

Good idea! Could mention to GP next time you go xx

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/08/2018 13:04

@squirrel yh im getting an appt on mon like i said enough waiting bout i dnt know how im going to get through these nxt 3mnths uuuugghh!

TTC73 · 25/08/2018 13:50

So took my first dose of clomid last night and so far so good l was expecting it to be quite painful as the doctor told me most women get really bad stomach pains and nausea taking it but he didn't say if that happens straight away.
I'm on CD3 now and i have my scan on Wednesday which im assuming is another transvaginal one but Wednesday is the last day of my period so can i still have it done that day ? Tried phoning to ask but the lines always engagedHmm

TTC73 · 25/08/2018 20:23

I take it for 5 days to get progesterone in my body then stop it ready for IVF then when period arrives start injections it’s what my hospital do Xx

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/08/2018 20:53

@TTC73 yh believe it or not they use contraceptive pills when ur having fertility problems in some cases

TTC73 · 26/08/2018 17:58

Day 3/6 on clomid and still no side effects Hmm makes me wonder if its even doing anything for me at all Sad

People just don’t think my Husband saw an old teacher the other day who asked him then said don’t leave it too late!! Jeez!!

TTC73 · 29/08/2018 10:13

So just had another scan done and apparently my body is perfectly fine Hmm he said my ovaries look normal and there's signs of ovulation happening this week (thanks to clomid) big question is why has nothing happened for us in the last 3yrs if we're both totally healthy and fine Sad i think unexplained fertility is even worse because you literally have no idea why it happens

TTC73 · 29/08/2018 13:03
