Anyone else just starting their journey ?

DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far

@Miss83 what's an internal x-ray? What are they looking for? I've had lots of internal scans which are totally fine if it's anything like that.

@lillyleaf yes, they insert dye through a tube and x-ray to check for any blockages. It has to be done just after your period finishes I believe. I'm a proper wimp. Don't handle my smear test very well so really dreading it

@Miss83 I've had a HyCoSy which sounds similar, a liquid goes into your womb and tubes but they check the flow with an internal scan. It was totally fine, just a bit strange.

@Miss83 neither do i but i feel as if its pretty obvs when im pouncing on him for the full wk lol how do they do an internal x ray? i was wondering incase i need 1

@Miss83 thanks soo much for the info hun its really gd to know. But i dnt know how thatd work for me cause i bleed on and off for 7days most times suppose id need to try and book it day 9 or 10? Id be nervous too but i will say they do say smears are uncomfortable and ive never had a problem with them do u? Suppose the only way u can look at it is it will be worth it in the long run. Can you have sumone go in with u since its an xray?

@Miss83 that sounds very similar and from quick Google search it seems they are just different techniques for the same thing. The one you will have uses an x-ray to see the liquid and the one I had uses a scan. I felt a little discomfort like mild period cramps during but after I felt fine.

@thisisouryrfx18 I'm guessing they would tell you when would be best for you to go. They may not want you to have it and do a different test if your cycles are longer or shorter. Mine are 27-30 days.

Don't handle smears very well at all. Anything 'down there' I don't handle well lol. I don't think you can have anyone go in with you. This is the last test before we can see the consultant though. Can't wait to get it over with. Period is due next weekend so should be done by the end of august/start of September.

@Miss83 i really feel for u hun its not fun i think anyone would b nervous but like u said just think thatl prob b the most invasive test ul need and ul feel like uve conquered something once its over n done with x keep us updated and feel free to rant on here if ur every feeling stressed bout it im happy to hand hold i ll prob need it when the time comes lol

FML. Today is meant to be CD2 and my period hasn't even shown up !! The one month it decides to go out of kilter and mess around I've got a splitting headache though

We've decided not to delay the inevitable anymore, we are making an appointment with the fertility clinic to proceed with IVF. I can't believe it's come to this but I actually feel positive that we're doing something because we are getting nowhere fast and I feel like we're just wasting time if we keep TTCing. Anyone starting soon? It will probably be in October.

We have our consultant appointment 2nd Oct and have been told we can start on the next cycle (15 Oct). We're just waiting to sort paperwork as an NHS patient to start IVF with Care, get all our tests transferred over and sort bloods with our GP so we're ready to go.

I was very weepy on the train going into work today. It all feels very scary.

Glad things are happening for you guys.we just had our letter through for our first appointment with the consualted. Wish we could go private but think we are going to be on the long NHS list.

Our NHS waiting list was 9 months, couldn't wait that long, if I was 3 years younger then maybe. I really feel the clock is ticking. I'm very paranoid about my eggs.

@FingersXssd83 the 15th October, would that be the first day of your cycle? Mine would work out to be the 13th October. I've been reading 'Get a Life - his and hers guide to ivf' it's really interesting and quite funny, I'm trying to normalise IVF so it doesn't feel too alien.

Tbh I'm trying to push it to the back of my mind. AF got me today and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about where we are and the future.

Yeah ours is 9 months... Once this consualtant refers on and that could take a while if he wants more tests.... I'm 35 so get what you mean! We have to repaire out conservatory roof and that's almost £4000 so can't afford that and to go private. Sucks. Good luck both... Exciting for you!

@Miss83 went to the gynae today she says ive to get a hycosy and if there are no blockages found straight to ivf im still quite shocked! Our nhs waiting list can be up to 12mnths ferl like crying but dnt want to upset OH. @FingersXssd83 it is very scary the whole procedure seems scary and the thought that it might not work is terrifying x

@thisisouryrfx18 12 months is crazy, I'm so sorry, I thought 9 months was long. Can you manage to go private?

@LillyLeaf me n OH are having some serious discussions about it i dnt want to start getting into debt but i dnt know what else to do we have some savings but i dnt know if its enough. Im just praying at this point they find a blockage that can be fixed so we dnt have to go down that route.

I had dinner with a friend tonight and she kept asking when we'll have kids, I kept saying 'one day' then changing the subject, but she kept bringing it up. Why don't some people take the hint. I knew she would ask as she always does, but ffs.
