Anyone else just starting their journey ?

DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far

Typical i thought i wnt chart my temps this cycle i need a break from waking up at 4am everyday i ll just use opks..so ive been using them for the past3 days i usually get a+ around cd26 today is cd26 and still negative opk wtf! If i dnt get a + 2morro im fonin the docs to get my bloods repeated im now convinced i dnt ovulate every mnth soo frustrating!

I had terrible luck with opks... but have just read about not using them in the morning! oops... but have been charting T for ages and it works reliably well to take it just when I wake up (whatever time it is) just has to be the first thing I do. I tried it out a few times and found I get the most repeatable answer when I hold it under my tongue for 4 minutes before taking the reading. Seems it takes ages to settle to the correct number (and the auto function doesn't give it long enough otherwise). I couldn't be doing with getting up at 4am every day... you're a star for achieving that @thisisour

@SpringLake thanx i think i just got to a desperate stage because id never had + opk until i charted lol suppose its practice for if i ever have a baby lol ive had positive opks my past 2cycles so its weird but still no + im just trying to time sex the same wk as the last 2cycles but ive not had any EWCM either which i normally do!

Just to add i take my temp vaginally usually it gives me a more accurate reading

That makes me feel like I've really cheated on my charting! I do get the expected patterns so hopefully not missed any clues. There was another poster (I forget which thread now) who was using opks three times a day to catch the +. How often are you checking?

@TTC73 when do you start taking the clomid? hope you've been able to give yourself a calming break these past few days!

@SpringLake thats what i was doing the last time 3x a day lol i laugh because if i didnt id scream tbh. But it did pay off..eventually ive only been dojng it once/twice a day this cycle tonight was another -

Hi ladies, can I join please. Been a tough week here, we had results of blood test and SA and mine were fine but DH appears to have very low count with barely any motility. Doctor wasn't able to explain the print out fully so feel a bit in the dark. Referred us to fertility clinic and DH is to have a re-test. Can anyone tell me how long it took to get first appointment at fertility clinic on nhs? Also I have read that in our area you need to be under 35 to have IVF on nhs- I am 37 so assuming we would have to pay.
If you go private is there also a limit on your bmi or weight? Im a bit overweight but not massively. Any help with these would be great. Have been heartbroken since we found out in case we can't afford treatment or it doesn't work

@Pumpkin18 welcome. Sorry for the SA result. Has he been taking vitamins etc?... they can really help (IMO). I can only reflect on your first question. I called up to book my first appointment and although the receptionist thought it would be a while to wait, I got one for just 4 weeks. Best to ring as soon as you can... and choose the easiest hospital you can access from the list.

@SpringLake my goal this cycle was to just keep trying and hope for the best until gynaeo app but im losing hope..im just gonna stop using opks aswell this cycle ran out and ill have missed the window by the time more get delivered just dtd as much as we can. Neway how r u ?

Thanks @SpringLake DH has been taking the fertility vitamins for months so they obviously haven't made a difference. Thanks for your reply though. Will see what happens. Suddenly nothing else seems to matter and all minimalsavings are ear marked for IVF if needed. How life changes. Glad we didn't book the holiday we were looking at now although could defo do with one right now!

@Pumpkin18 i know we re the exact same want/need a holiday but i cant justify it in my head, we have savings from when we 1st started ttc for pram cot etc looks like we might need it further down to line

@thisisyouryrfx18 its shit isn't it. It's so gutting when you have made plans in your head for starting a family, saving to buy cots, prams etc and then you realise you might need the money just to try to have a baby. Never thought I'd be here and so gutted by it all

I'm just trying to keep cool, calm and positive. AF late (but that's not unusual) just spotting today so far, so keep telling myself to take things easy and it could still work out... whilst also trying to decide which meetings at work I can reschedule because I'm supposed to be going in for a day 1-7 blood test and they only do weekday mornings! Got to get that done this month before my first hosp appt.

@Pumpkin18 i know itd b soo much nicer to spend it on baby stuff it all seemed soo exciting in the beginning now i just want to bury my head in the sand and forget about it all😣 @SpringLake sorry whats that blood test for is it to check hormone levels? Been soo down the past few days im soo fed up of it all feel like running away to get some headspace and figure this all out in my mind..im tired of putting my life on hold but i cant c a future with no family

I have just finished my last period so having to wait till the end of this month to start the clomid im on 100mg for CD2-CD6
Just want to get started already so impatient to know it's going to work or not

@thisisouryrfx18 I can't see a future with no family either at the moment, what else do you do with your life?? Crazy isn't it. Only got results of tests this week and referred to clinic but im finding it easier if I try to find a solution rather than worrying about the problem. Looking in to private fertility clinics as too old for IVF in my area which is shocking to be honest! How can they say you can't have ivf on nhs unless you're under 35!! Clinics abroad seem to be popular and im definitely interested in looking in to one in the Czech republic as it appears to have good results and would save about 3k compared to the UK from what I have seen so far. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but would rather plan for the worst

Pumpkin18 same boat as you, but no sperm found in OH sample, he did two. When I rang the clinic we had about a 4 week wait to go to the woman's health clinc where we looked at all our results (had to get all tests done with GP before we rang for our appointment). We are now on a waiting list to see the consultant with more tests in between.... It's about a three month wait so we are looking at October, then if he refers us again a 9 month wait for treatment. I'm 35 so get how you are feeling. We are in Wales though so I'm guessing it's different different palaces?! From what they have said so far we probably have ICSI.

thisisouryrfx18 hope your ok, I know how you feel about running away. It really sucks and unless you are going through it people just don't get it and how much it can effect you! Sending hugs!

SpringLake all the appointments are hard work, I not started my job four months ago but luckily they are really good about it. Not told them what's going on yet as they haven't asked and don't even want to see my letters so just playing it by ear, have doctors next week for more bloods and the week after with OH as our GP wants to see him about his SA results, even though she has already refered us.

What other tests do you need to have once you've had blood test and SA? Assuming will be told at fertility clinic but I'd like to have all sorted so we can crack on with private IVF asap.

@Pumpkin18 I don't know yet, but Dr vaguely mentioned vaccination checks, STI checks and ultrasound as first step (after hormone blood tests which he arranged). Then it depends I guess on what issues are found?

@Pumpkin18 i was wondering the same im assuming some sort of scan? @SpringLake oh yh i remember someone mentioning sti tests and vaccination checks i think im up to date with all of those tho so thats gd @Miss83 hugs bak ❤ im beginning to toy with the idea of councelling im not coping very well atm im soo tired and short with everyone i feel soo angry all the time. I think im just sic of putting on a fake positive attitude i just feel like screaming, and to top it all off my pregnant family member is due at the end of the mnth..uuugggh

Pumpkin18 we had the 21 bloods, SA X 2, we both had to have clamidia tests done which we did ourselves at home and dropped samples to the GP and I had to have reubella checked. We are now being sent for a scan and more blood tests.

thisisouryrfx18 you should deffo go get help if you think it'll help you... It is so hard. I'm not there yet... Still putting on the fake emailed and 'im ok,' think when !y sister and best friend are both close to giving birth I'll break...

@Miss83 it sux im due af on the 15th so im just tryin to stay busy the only gd thing is if it comes ive got the gynaeo the following wk so at least i can feel proactive. Just fed up think im goin to treat myself i need something to perk me up i know it prob wnt help but i need to try something..ne suggestions ladies?

@thisisour what's your budget? how about a massage and swim? can't do that once your expecting! you could make the most of the chance now? :)
