DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far Sad

Hi @Booksandstuff sounds like ur in the right place to me, ive had my bloods taken they were normal and just got OH s SA back today its within the norm aswell. Been TTC for nearly 3yrs now tho so not sure what the hells going on! Ive got the gynaeo nxt mnth so i ll soon find it if its cysts or blocked tubes who knows..neway when r u planning on testing? X

Booksandstuff · 20/07/2018 03:43

Hi @thisis. Good news that you're booked in to see the gynae. Do you have regular cycles? Have you had any BFPs?
I'm going to try to wait until next Friday. That'll be 16 days after the trigger shot and 14 days after when I think I ovulated.

thisisouryrfx18 · 20/07/2018 20:51

@Booksandstuff my cycles arent really irregular just quite long about 6wks..ive had 1positive about 2/3 months into trying then i had the worst period ever so i dnt know if it was a really early miscarriage or dud test. But it was on a digital test so who knows..

Hi guys, ok if I join?

New to the world of fertility. We have been TTC since October 2016. I went to my GP in March this year. We completed all our test and had out first appointment with our NHS women's health unit on Wednesday just gone. We had a chat and looked at all our results. Orinally like you they thought I had not been ovulating, but after three more 21 bloods they are happy that I am. I have to go for a scan to check all is ok inside.

So they think that it may be DP as he done two SA and both came back with nothing in his samples. We have been referred on to see the consultant. It's about a three month waiting list so it'll be October/November when we see him. I am almost 35 so feel time is not on our side.

Miss83 · 22/07/2018 11:42

..... A lot to catch up on this bored (which is great it's so active) just scanned through the messages and I am so glad I'm not alone in this. The needle part freaks me out to.... And I just found out my younger sister is pregnant with baby number two. Really want to be happy for her, but it's heart breaking. My mum told me so not seen her yet though we have chatted on the phone. Think it's going to be so hard to see her belly grow and hear about all the baby stuff Sad kind of want to hide away and avoid it all, but don't want to come across as being funny about it or not happy for her.

Has anyone had an internal x-ray done. It didn't sound very pleasant when the nurse told me about so I'm hoping it's not as bad as it sounds!

thisisouryrfx18 · 22/07/2018 12:41

Hi @Miss83 thats tough hun ur of course happy for ur sister but it is salt rubbed in the wounds id try and b honest with her so she knows why ur down x ive not had my internal examinations yet not looking forward to it either

Miss83 · 22/07/2018 18:05

thisisouryrfx18 good luck, did you say yours was next month? I have to wait for a letter from the x-ray department and then they will want me to book just after my period had ended I think. Really want to get it over with and October to get here fast.

Yeah she knows we are having test done ect. My mum told me her news, which I was glad of to hear it from my mum and not my sister. A close friend of mine is going through all this at the mo, so it's nice to have her who gets it to. Shes a few steps ahead of us. Just found out her OH may not be able to have children though. Waiting on blood results.

thisisouryrfx18 · 22/07/2018 18:09

@Miss83 nxt mnth ive got the gynaeo my bloods all came back normal so did my OH sa so who knows whats up

GiraffeMomma · 23/07/2018 17:26

Hello everyone
New to the world of (in)fertility, devastated that I’m even having to be on this journey.
OH and I have been ttc since November, not long I know, but it’s possible I only have half fertility after my Fallopian tube tied itself in a knot last year. I have been doing ovulation tests at home and haven’t had a positive reading yet, I also haven’t had any physical symptoms of ovulation. I’m going to the GP next week to ask for a referral back to the gynae doc I saw after my admission last year, he said to try for 9 months then come back for tests to see if my tube was damaged. Half fertility and no ovulation doesn’t strike me with much hope :(
It seems like everyone around me is getting pregnant and I’m struggling. My best friend is due in September, got pregnant by accident and can only talk about how much she can’t wait for a year off work. OH has a group of friends and yesterday the last one announced at another’s baby’s christening that they are due in December. Cue lots of “ooo you’re the only ones left, no pressure” comments. To make matters she knew she was 6 weeks gone at their wedding and got totally wasted. I’m avoiding all things that might be bad for a baby on the off-chance, how is that fair?! I cried most of the day. OH doesn’t understand. I feel so desperate.
Anyone have any words of encouragement? Or can tell me what to expect when I go to the GP next week?

squirrelnutkins1 · 23/07/2018 19:36

@GiraffeMomma you're in the right place here. Im feeling totally miserable myself about it all. Again not been trying that long, nearly a year but history of endo, low AMH, apparently not ovulating and hubby's SA came back a little on the low side 🙄 feel your pain about all the announcements. My friend too had an 'accident' urrrggghhh. Yep seems so unfair when you're cutting bad things out and see others around you not bothering and getting all the luck!!
Your GP may well just get on and do the referral. Did you have rubella vaccine as a child? May be worth asking to have your immunity checked. All the best with your appointment and chin up (not easy I know!) xx 💐💐💐

GiraffeMomma · 23/07/2018 21:57

@squirrel thank you, I’m ok mostly but sometimes things push me over the edge. BFs baby shower on Saturday, I’m already planning my ‘leaving early excuses’ and feeling like a terrible friend for doing so.

Why do you ask about the rubella vaccine? I think I’ve had it but I’ll check. Can that affect fertility?!

Sorry to hear about all your struggles, I hope the docs can come up with something for you, and that you’re ok xxx

Miss83 · 23/07/2018 22:13

GiraffeMomma I had to have my reubella checked as part of my referral to the fertility clinic so it maybe the same for you. They will tell you all the tests you need once you get referred. I went to the doctor in march and got refered, had my first appointment last week at the clinic. They were lovely there. My sister is pregnant with her second child and we are suppose to be having a celebration meal Friday... Really dreading it! Good luck with the baby shower. People just don't get it unless it's effecting you.

EstrellaMay · 23/07/2018 23:26

Hi ladies, just to say rubella vaccine doesn't affect fertility but it's dangerous for pregnant women to be exposed to rubella if they haven't been vaccinated, which is why they check, as far as I know. They also ask you if you've had chicken pox, for similar reasons - if you haven't had it & are exposed to it while pregnant it can be dangerous.

squirrelnutkins1 · 24/07/2018 17:57

Yeah, doesn't affect fertility but dangerous to contract it when preg. Mine was checked and I'm not immune so had to wait until my next period for first vaccine, then one month later for the next and from what I can see on the internet (nurse hasn't phoned back) I need to wait one more month before ttc again, so it's holding me up at the moment. I either didn't have it as a kid or I just can't get immunity for some weird reason. All got to keep our chins up xx

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/07/2018 10:24

@GiraffeMomma thats terrible i dnt understand ppl that get drunk when theyr pregnant they really dnt appreciate what they have! Theyr always the ones to get pregnant 1st its soo unfair..i was googling my gynae today she seems quite impressive( qualifications etc) fx its a gd sign

TTC73 · 25/07/2018 13:59

So had a scan last week and everything is normal and ive been prescribed clomid !! Not able to start it till next month now as AF has arrived before the prescription but im hoping it kick starts my ovaries!! They've given me 100mg to start off with so hoping it works Grin GP is confident it will as everything else is normal but its just my lack of ovulation each month that appears to be stopping us Hmm they still can't figure out why i don't ovulate as all my hormones and everything are spot on Confused

@TTC73 thats great news hun at least its treatable u must b soo xcited to get started x

SpringLake · 25/07/2018 18:47

Thanks for starting this thread, OP.

When dh and I agreed to started trying, I was all up for making early preparations... asking for my smear to be done early and getting a tooth xray done... all in the vain hope getting my bfp would be easy! I lurked on the other forum for a while too... but... it just ends up being the same thing again and again! and depressing to boot.

I've just got my referral. And unless I move county, this is my one NHS chance. Will call to make the first appt this week.

thisisouryrfx18 · 25/07/2018 20:09

@SpringLake i was exact same when we 1st started ttc thinkin it would happen soo quick and that there was a hurry to get smears etc out of the way. I started a thread on the ttc forums mnths ago and now im the only one left still ttc and not pregnant yet out of about 20ladies, if thats not a sign somethings up i dnt know what is!

TTC73 · 25/07/2018 21:42

If the Clomid doesn't work i think the next step is in vitro so hopefully it does !

OP posts:
GiraffeMomma · 25/07/2018 22:50

@ttc73 that’s such great news! Fingers crossed that the Clomid is all you need to help you body get working, I’m hoping for a similar outcome!
@thisisouryrfx18 it’s awful isn’t it. Just makes me sick, how can you do that to the life you’re supposed to be protecting? I might be taking it harder cos we’re being so good and being thwarted but I can’t even look at her.
@squirrel and @EstrellaMay good to know about the rubella, I’ve checked and I had all my vaccinations so hopefully that won’t be something that slows the process down.

thisisouryrfx18 · 26/07/2018 13:09

Do any of yous ladies find ttc causes a massive strain on ur relationship ive been arguing with oh a lot past 2mnths which isnt like us at all

EstrellaMay · 26/07/2018 18:36

Yes @thisisouryrfx18 infertility is causing strain and arguments for us too and we usually hardly ever row. He shuts down and won't talk about it which I find so hard.

thisisouryrfx18 · 26/07/2018 18:44

@EstrellaMay my oh talks about it when i bring it up but i feel as if im the one always bringing it up, why do men bury their heads in the sand?! Its tough isnt it i felt like it brought us together to begin with now its tearing us apart..think we re both just fed up of the constant dissapointment now and theres no guarentees all the tests etc are worth it. Im just v down atm

EstrellaMay · 26/07/2018 22:17

Yeh it's v hard. Much better to talk about it I think, then it doesn't get built up as much somehow
