DH is going for his sperm sample to be tested today and hes so nervous and the GP wants me to have some blood tests done and swabs at a later date. So nervous of what to expect and terrified of the possibility of IVF I've heard its so painful ?
We've been trying to have a baby for over 3yrs with 2 chemical pregnancies so far Sad

@lopey that's great you're staying positive, i also love reading people's success stories, often have a little happy cry when they've been trying for years it finally happens! Glad you're focused on work too. Do you have an official test date? How does that bit work? And do you see the clinic during the tww?

My early ovulation this month means I now won't be on af during or holiday in a few weeks, which is a bit of luck! We'll also just manage an extra natural cycle before ivf cracks on so that's making me feel a bit more comfortable.

Sorry af came to a few of you ladies xx

@CatRen27 we have to just try and look for the small mercies eh? No af on hol is great..im feeling soo low 2day hormonal from af aswell i suppose but i just have this overwhelming feeling its not gonna happen for me. I know ppl will say stay positive but ive tried to for3 long yrs im exhausted!

thisisouryrfx18 · 09/07/2018 13:33

Hi ladies looking for sum advice as ive said on here before i had my bloods done came back fine was all they said (assuming i ovulated), and oh has an appt for SA. So my question is if his SA comes back as normally what do u think the next step would be? My gp is referring me to c a gynacologist? Do u think i should push to b sent to an infertility clinic? Or is this.normal? I feel like we ve been waiting long enough and obvs want to make sure there arent anymore delays with investigations..its been 3yrs now

squirrelnutkins1 · 09/07/2018 22:19

@thisisouryrfx18 I'm not sure but didn't want to read and run Thanks all the best for hubby's SA. Ours this week too eek.

EstrellaMay · 09/07/2018 23:49

Hi @thisisouryrfx18 are you in the UK? If so, other posters with experience of the NHS might be able to help you map out what's next. Make sure you've had your thyroid checked with your other blood tests. Depending on your age & test results, since you've been trying for 3 years you might be recommended to move onto Clomid / IUI / IVF. Hope you're ok, it's a hard road.

Rubberduckies · 10/07/2018 07:45

@thisisouryrfx18 I think different places vary but it sounds sensible to be seen by gynaecology who can check your uterus and tubes etc and then fertility clinic once you and your Dh have had everything done

thisisouryrfx18 · 10/07/2018 09:55

Thanks @squirrelnutkins1 gd luck to u and oh x thanks @EstrellaMay @Rubberduckies suppose im just really fed up and frustrated i appreciate the support ladies❤

LopeyLopez · 13/07/2018 06:51

CatRen27 · 13/07/2018 17:36

Really sorry @lopey, that must be so tough. I hope you have some restful plans and take care over the next few days xxxx hugs to you

Ladyhuskies · 13/07/2018 19:06

Lillyleaf, take it from a 40yr old who started at 36 with the NHS which led both of us many merry dances with failed administration etc, do yourself a favour and get all your initial testing done privately, so you know where you stand, doesnt mean you wont get NHS IVF (IF you need it) but dont let them wast 4 yrs of your life focussing on all the male testing routes before they realise they havent done any testing on you and your now too old at 40 for NHW anyway.

Ladyhuskies · 13/07/2018 19:13

@TTC73 our GP used the wrong sterilised bottle kit and we had to go on the 6 week NHS waiting list again to take sample 2, not our mistake but we paid for it, really frustrating I know

thisisouryrfx18 · 14/07/2018 08:02

I know ppl tend to say its a postcode lottery with the nhs but i have to admit ive been shocked by how quick theyv been with us(soo far). I got my bloods done the 1st cycle i went to gp and oh had his SA appt within 3wks. Both our results are supposed to take less than a wk to come back fx. If we do need ivf im just hoping that the process is just as quick. I do know there are lots of ppl less lucky than us and my heart goes out to yous, i had a family member who had cancer and their appts treatments were a complete and utter fuck up soo i know how terrible the nhs can b x

TTC73 · 14/07/2018 08:57

So the results are in and they are....
We're both perfectly fine and they have no idea why we haven't conceived yet Hmm
FML. So it's off to the fertility clinic anyway for some form of treatment. I told the doctor even though my hormones are all fine i don't Ovulate and he agreed that's probably the underlying cause in all this

@thisisouryrfx18 I think most GP’s do the testing relatively quickly, I know ours did. But it tends to be the referral from GP to gynae unit/fertility clinic that starts to take months. I hope this isn’t the case for you, but it’s what I’ve picked up from hanging around these boards for a long time now.

@TTC73, if you’ve only had the first set of GP tests done then it’s quite normal for them to come back clear and then people find there are other issues later on. I wouldn’t get too down yet about being unexplained at least until you’ve been through all the testing and they still can’t find anything wrong.

TTC73 · 14/07/2018 09:31

So once we're referred to hospital they'll do more tests and find something ? I thought that was all the tests done now Confused the GP made it sound like we'll just go to see the gynae and have treatment done. He did say depending on your area it can take months though depending on demand

OP posts:
thisisouryrfx18 · 14/07/2018 09:55

@MynameisJune yh gp did say the wait for the gynae could b a couple of mnths im goin to wait a mnth tops then fone gp to chase it up dnt care if they think im demanding lol. I know ppl mite think oh well list is a list just wait but as i said earlier bout my family member with cancer we kept on chasing up appts and what do u know they all of sudden had a quicker appt lol. @TTC73 i think the gynae referral is to check to make sure u dnt have blocked tubes cysts etc? Im just guessing cause i havent been yet either x

MynameisJune · 14/07/2018 12:43

@TTC73 yes they’ll likely do a tests to check your tubes, have you had any scans on your uterus? They might also re-do you DH’s SA. There are even further tests depending on what they find.

thisisouryrfx18 · 16/07/2018 16:14

Got my gynaeo appt through woohoo not until nxt mnth which is annoying but at least its progress!

MynameisJune · 17/07/2018 09:27

Af arrived again today, 3 days early. Seems like my cycles are getting shorter again. Last month was 25 days now this is 24. Last year they got as short as 17 days. So bloody tired of all this, part of me wishes I could just give up.

CatRen27 · 17/07/2018 10:26

Sorry af came @mynameis, sounds really tough for you. What has the gp said about your short cycles?

MynameisJune · 17/07/2018 10:30

@catren27 I think it’s just hit a bit harder today because we are stuck in limbo with not being able to move forward with IVF yet. I hate waiting, as long as I have a plan I can deal with most things.

The Dr wasn’t too concerned, I had a 23 day cycle when I conceived DD so it doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad. I’ve had short cycles since I came off birth control 10 years ago. They’ve always been around 26 days.

Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the right place for me...
Ttc for around 21 months. Had all the tests and nothing obvious showing up to explain why we're struggling.
I'm on my first cycle of injections, trigger and timed intercourse, now taking progesterone three times a day. I'm in the 2ww - not sure exactly when to test but have read that the HCG from the trigger can stay in your system and give a positive reading on hpt, so will wait it out.
Nothing unusual symptoms wise, but only had the trigger last Wednesday and I guess the progesterone will give me some symptoms. Still googling like a maniac, obv.
Sending good thoughts everyone's way.
