Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Beherenow, did you sort your time off with work? Sorry to hear you are feeling crappy :(

Ginandtonic, are you planning to take any time off work?

Cupcake, hope headache settles xxx

@Beherenow32 could you feel anything after 4 jabs as I really can’t!

I’m trying not to be too ott about my diet and just go with it. I don’t think I’m having enough bit i did well yesterday and I’m having a protein shake with milk each day as well. Just had a load of cashew nuts!

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 16:12

@canonball when I get the go ahead to trigger we have to go to London for two nights for EC so I will take a couple of days off to go down there.

CritterTamer · 12/06/2018 16:16

Hi all - I feel lucky to not be on Gonal F, not having any headaches or tiredness on menopur, just masses and masses of EWCM and really uncomfortable ovaries. I’m hoping that means that it’s working but now bending down, getting up and down from bed or chairs, and even walking too fast or an6 kind of bumping/bouncing are very uncomfortable. 7 day-scan is tomorrow so fingers are crossed that it’s all ok.

I’m sorry you ladies are feeling tired and poorly - hope it gets better for you soon. Looks like there are a few of us due EC next week- here’s hoping that things pick up and we all grow lots of nice big follicles before then!

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 16:24

@CritterTamer I don’t think it’s quite as bad as we are making out - it’s meant to be one of the most gentle meds I think. Just a bad day of a bit tired and lost my mojo! I think the headache is weather. It happens often when muggy.

Beherenow32 · 12/06/2018 16:56

@cannonball8726 not sure what to do with time off. Last times I took about 2/3 weeks as holidays. Now I’m wondering if it does me any good!

What is everyone else’s plans with time off work?

@Ginandtonic31 I didn’t feel like this until today. About day 4 I was quite bloated. I think that was more to do with my hormones than my ovaries. I think it sounds like you’re doing great with your diet. If I’m honest, I’m not sure protein is even helping! Its prob all down to the meds.

@CritterTamer sounds like it’s working for you? 👍 I’m quite uncomfortable now, and my eggs aren’t even that big 😕 lol! Xx

physicskate · 12/06/2018 19:06

Jeepers! I go to acupuncture and have an afternoon nap and look how much I've missed! I feel like scans, doing the meds and going to acupuncture are a full time job at the moment. I am so so lucky that I am not working at the moment. I cannot imagine how this would have worked with teaching!! I got out of my scan really late and can't imagine having to plan more cover lessons at such short notice for tomorrow's scan!

I too have a bit of a hangover feel, despite not having had more than two bottles of wine in total in the last four months.

Protein shakes all around!!

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 19:18

I’m getting quite concerned about my lack of pain, bloating, twinging, cramps etc 😞😕

Beherenow32 · 12/06/2018 20:45

@Ginandtonic31 you scan must feel ages away. 😔 they will change your dosage if needed. Get hot water bottle on your belly every night until then 😊

I can’t stomach protein shakes. Does hot chocolate count? 😃 xx

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 20:49

It does @beherenow32. Had a little cry tonight and now having a bath. Does the hot water bottle help? Thought it may damage them 😂I feel like even if they up my dose I will run out of time!

Beherenow32 · 12/06/2018 20:53

@Ginandtonic31 sorry to hear you’re sad, but it’s good for you to have me time! 💞

I read that it helps them grow. But, I do think everything I’ve read on the net is a load of rubbish, but I do it anyway to make me feel a little more in control!

Keep looking after yourself! Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 21:35

I don’t think I’m sad. Just pent up maybe? Ah well hopefully a better day tomorrow and I start cetrotide in the morning. Joy Grin

TheArtfulScreamer · 12/06/2018 21:42

@ginandtonic I've not got any cramps twinges pain etc either but then I don't know if I should have yet as I've only been stimming since Fri. I've decided to go with the flow and not worry to much about what I can't change. The thought of sitting with a hot water bottle on my tummy in this weather makes me nearly faint. I've a scan on Sat so fingers crossed everything is growing as it should and I've just been lucky with side effects.

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 22:07

@theartfulscreamer I’ve only been drinking since Friday too so at least that’s something!!

cannonball8726 · 12/06/2018 22:11

Beherenow, I'm going to book a few days of annual leave but not sure when is best. I was thinking maybe around the week of egg collection and transfer. Had nurse appointment yesterday who suggested a couple of days off after embryo transfer. Haven't quite worked it out yet!

Impressed with all the protein shake action in here!

Sorry you're feeling shitty, Ginandtonic. Watch something uplifting on the TV and have a hot chocolate (inspired by Beherenow)

Great attitude, TheArtfulScreamer. Need to take a leaf out of your book!

Good luck for scans tomorrow, physicskate and CritterTamer. Let us know how you get on.

I meant stimming btw. Definitely not drinking Grin

ejsmitho · 12/06/2018 23:04

Hi Ladies, I’m in need of some advice. I had a 3 day FET 11 days ago and I did HPT today and it was negative. I’m devastated and I’ve pretty much cried all day. Did anyone go on to get BFP following a BFN? My actual test date is in 2 days time but I’m thinking if I was pregnant it would have shown on a HPT by now.

NotLateInTheMorning · 12/06/2018 23:18

thank you for this thread - it is really both informative and calming to read through everyone's experiences.

i have a quick question - i am on the short protocol of for ICSI. I started daily FSH injections on the 7th June and have my first monitoring scan tomorrow on the 13th June. I have just looked at my Treatment diary and it seems to say that I should have had my first Cetrotide injection today on Tuesday 12th June...so, before the scan...does this sound right? I am panicking a bit because I have not injected the Cetrotide today and though that the nurse would should me how to do it when I have the scan tomorrow

I really can't remember the nurse saying anything about the Cetrotide injection but the diary clearly states it should have been started today...

any help welcome...i usually take notes but i was so nervous around he injections...

NotLateInTheMorning · 12/06/2018 23:20

lot's of typos there - i really am panicking...sorry

NotLateInTheMorning · 12/06/2018 23:23

ejsmitho - just read your post. I can't offer any advice, but I am sorry for your experience xx

Beherenow32 · 13/06/2018 06:59

@ejsmitho I have never had a BFP. I’m really sorry ☹️ It’s so devastating xx

@NotLateInTheMorning just wanted to say welcome to the thread. I don’t use centrotide. I know a couple in here do. Hope they can help. I would have thought the nurses would face explained it to you, if due.... 😕 xx

Ginandtonic31 · 13/06/2018 07:06

@NotLateInTheMorning hey. I started FSH (Gonal F) on Friday 9th and my first cetrotide is today so it would make sense that yours is yesterday or day before. My monitoring scan is Friday.

Wishingnwaiting · 13/06/2018 10:47

So I had my first consultation yesterday. Definitely going for icsi which is what I’d hoped due to OH count being low and my medical history. Scan saw 26 follicles (13per side, hope that’s not unlucky 😕)... so good numbers, but unfortunately looks like I have uterine polyps so need to have them removed before starting our protocol.
I’m back for a scan at the start of my next AF just in case it’s just thicker endo which will hopefully shed and not polyps. Fingers crossed... I’m going to drop out of this thread as we will most likely now be August/sept/Oct cycles dependant on the polyp situation.
Baby dust to you all and best of wishes for your transfers. Xxx

NotLateInTheMorning · 13/06/2018 11:50

Beherenow32 - thanks. to be honest, the nurse probably did explain and I got mixed up. i read and read so much on the net and then forget to act!

Ginandtonic31 - I was going to start FSH injection on Friday 9th (would have been day 3 of my period) but I had to go into work so started a day before, which the nurse said was fine. FSH makes me really tired and lacking in energy. No headaches though. I have my first post-stims monitoring scan this afternoon and then another one on Friday.

wishing everyone strength x and for those in the process still, fingers crossed xx

DuchyDuke · 13/06/2018 12:31

I’m on day 8 of a short protocol. Follicles aren’t growing brilliantly but I have pcos so there are loads of them - Roughly 13 on each side so there should be a few that mature. I am on a lower calorie high protein diet which I’ve been told to stay on as it’s the best for pcos.
