Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

I think I’m on short because it’s just what they do for my particular reason for IVF. I’m also on a low dose so I think they think there’s a risk I will over stimulate.

I can’t beliege I have to get through 4 days of work until I know if it’s working!

Gavinmaxine1 · 11/06/2018 07:30

I'm on day 7 of down reg. feeling quite hormonal, sweaty, bloated & irritable lol.. scan & pros tap on 21st then stims 23rd - 28th. Roll on lol.. hope everyone doing well. It can b mentally challenging 😬

physicskate · 11/06/2018 11:38

Second scan today. Gonal f increased from 150 to 225. I'm both over and under responding. Nearly 30 follicles but only 4/5 are above 10 mm. one is at 17. They want the others to catch up!

Another scan tomorrow as the want to monitor me closely...

Any ideas for how to make some catch up??

ginandtonicformeplease · 11/06/2018 12:31

AF arrived today, so started taking progynova and arranged my day 12 scan. I'm getting really nervous now, much more nervous than in the run up to EC - I think after quite bad OHSS then I'm now very wary of the FET.

Gavinmaxine1 · 11/06/2018 13:02

@physicskate my first cycle the upped my drugs after scan for 2 days and it increased my follies

CupcakeVampire · 11/06/2018 14:00

Hello all

Had a lot of catching up to do since I last posted. A deadline for a whole ton of work and then a holiday are great things to pass the time. Best of luck to everybody waiting on transfers.

AF finally appeared to kickstart the FET process for me. I'm waiting to hear back from the clinic for scan dates. So far no noticeable side effects from the progynova. Had a bit of a wobble just before AF started and started to panic a little. I think it was the thought of it not working and having to go through the crushing disappointment all over again that got to me. I'm also worried as this is our first FET and I'm not sure what to expect. Feels like I'm back in uncharted territory all over again.

It's not helping that I'm starting to get a bit fed up of everybody asking me if we're having another go or not now that I'm back from holiday. We've decided not to tell people this time round as even though we told select people in confidence, it still seemed to spread round like gossip wildfire Angry.

Beherenow32 · 11/06/2018 19:07

@CupcakeVampire people do get very insensitive with questions and comments... I feel better talking about things, but now nonly talk about it with a couple of very close people. Good to hear that you are about to start now.

@physicskate that’s good that they are keeping a close eye on everything with scans. How long have you been stimming? I hope this change helps them grow (steadily!).

I have been eating protein like crazy today! I have a scan tomorrow. First one since stimming.
Starting to worry a little about how much time I should take off, and now to do it. My work mentioned holidays again. Big I’m not keen to just keep using them for this. 😣

Hope everyone is doing alright xx

Charmers1 · 11/06/2018 19:19

Hi all, 1st ever post on Mumsnet but feeling very down today- am undergoing first IVF cycle on NHS. Eggs going to be collected on Wednesday but they think there will only be two to collect. They keep telling me it only takes one egg and one embryo but I feel like there are so many highs and lows in this process.

Work have been great- couldn’t face going into the office today after the news so having me time at home and trying to be positive.

CritterTamer · 11/06/2018 20:27

Hi all

Good to see that everyone’s progressing well with stims, scans, etc. Good luck to all those with scans/EC coming up! My 7 day scan is Wednesday and can feel all sorts of weird things going on around my ovaries, plus have ridiculous amounts of EWCM (sorry for TMI) so hoping those are signs that it’s all working

Welcome @Charmers1 - sorry to hear you’re feeling down about the 2 eggs. It’s true that it only takes one but that doesn’t stop you feeling gutted that there werent more possible chances I’m sure. This is a nice safe place to vent and let it all out with others who know what you’re going through so i hope it helps you 😊

physicskate · 11/06/2018 20:56

@beherenow32 - stims started last Monday so 7 days at 150 and then today at 225.

I do have PCO so we expected a high response. Collection will be sometime Thurs - Monday? I'm thinking it might be a freeze all (if we get any!!). Hope I get a mature egg in that lot of tiny follies!

Fingers crossed I do the same @gavinmaxine1.

Dia12 · 11/06/2018 22:07

Hi guys, been a busy few days for me (great having my mind distracted) so not up to date with the thread.
Hope everyone’s doing well and keeping positive.
Welcome @charmers1 - good luck with your EC, wishing you good quality eggs, even if it’s jusf the one.

I’ve had my third scan this morning and the follies are growing steadily, final scan on Wednesday and if all being well, EC on Friday. Starting to feel a little uncomfortable now, full and bloated with some cramping. Still a long way to go but every day that passes well feels like a small victory.

Ginandtonic31 · 11/06/2018 23:03

@charmers1 👋🏻 hello! Try not to worry until you know for sure!

I’m still not feeling anything! Got a banging headache tonight but not sure that’s just a coincidence! I’ve done 4 injections now. Today again when I removed the needle some dripped off the end. This didn’t happen first two times so not sure what I’ve done wrong now!!

Charmers1 · 11/06/2018 23:11

Thanks everyone! Fingers crossed for the next few days and weeks for everyone.

@Ginandtonic31 you are right on the not worrying- it won’t help. 😊

Ginandtonic31 · 11/06/2018 23:19

@charmers1 I’m the worst worrier and need to take my own advice. Just last week I was worrying my period hadn’t come and it was all over!

I think I keep getting a twinge to my left overt but I think that’s my PCOS ovary so hope it doesn’t end up over stimulated. Nothing to the right yet.

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 07:21

I didn’t mean overt btw 😂 sounds like I’m trying to be posh 😂

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 10:12

Has Gonal F made anyone else feel really tired?

Wishingnwaiting · 12/06/2018 10:20

Can anyone please tell me what exactly the nhs covers in terms of ivf treatment? I’m just about to begin my first ivf journey but will only get 1 course through the nhs. If my cycle is stopped before egg retrieval due to insufficient numbers, is this game over?? Would this count as 1 failed cycle or is it 1 full cycle on the nhs irrespective of halted attempts?
Hopefully won’t come to this but I want to be prepared if it does...

physicskate · 12/06/2018 13:52

@Wishingnwaiting at my clinic, they said one cycle has taken place after egg collection. We can also have up to four frozen cycles (not looking likely for me). I do think it changes in each ccg though.

Very very tired @Ginandtonic31. But I thought it was the cetrotide...

Another scan tomorrow. Two follicles past the finish line. 2 more are close. Loads (20 or more) are 12mm or under. It's looking like atoms today and maybe tomorrow. Ec looks like Friday or Saturday for me. I really hope some more catch up! It's so like me to have such an awkward response...

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 14:17

@physicskate I remember you saying cetrotide does but I don’t start that until tomorrow and today I could sleep on my desk. If it gets worse with the cetrotide tomorrow I don’t know how I will make it through the week!

I think I will have a bad response too. I cannot feel a thing happening. I’m scared I’ve done my injections wrong as on two ocassions some of the GF has dripped off the needle when I pulled it out.

Hi @wishingnwaiting I’m bt sure I can really help as our nhs funding is different to most. But I know with ours if at any point it’s cancelled that’s the end of a cycle. What physics kate said sound more plausible for CCGs however

cannonball8726 · 12/06/2018 15:22

Best of luck, Kate. Hope the follicles grow well in size in the next couple of days. Will they keep your dose the same? I'm on 25mcg of thyroxine too - maybe too early - been on it around three weeks i think.

Ginandtonic and Kate, the fatigue sounds marked during stims. Are you managing to work?

Best of luck, Charmers. This process is like a rollercoaster :(

CupcakeVampire · 12/06/2018 15:33

When I was on Gonal-F last cycle I was usually in bed by 9pm. Don't think I've ever slept as much in my life before!

I have had a banging headache since last night so I don't know whether to blame the Progynova or the change in the weather. Angry Will have to wait and see.

Beherenow32 · 12/06/2018 15:47

@Chalmers1 it’s so tough. We have no control over what’s happening. Did they clinic suggest changing your dose? Hopefully it goes well anyway, and they are strong eggs. 🤞

@physicskate good luck for your scan. That is a lot of follicles!! They can grow a couple of mm a day. So, maybe some will catch up 💞

@wishingnwaiting I think if cancelled, that would count as your nhs round. I’m sure it counts as one egg collection (then any embryos that can be, are transferred). I think it’s quite rare.... try take it a step at a time.

@Ginandtonic31 I’m tired, yeah. And feel like I have a permenant hangover. 😐 drinking as much water as I can. Haven’t drank tea for two days. Not like me at all!!

Had my scan today. 8 follicles between 6-13mm. Another scan on fri, with egg collection likely to be mon/ tues. Feeling a little underwhelmed with the scan, but suppose I still have a week left. Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 15:49

CupcakeVampire banging head here too! I often wake up with a headache when it is muggy though!

@cannonball I’ve struggled at work today. Yawning a lot, unmotivated, etc. I feel like I’m not working hard enough today but don’t know how I’m going to get through the week!

Ginandtonic31 · 12/06/2018 15:56

@Beherenow32 sorry I missed your post. I’m glad I’m not the only tired one. I am often tired but not like this! And not lacking in motivation so much!

Still plenty of time to grow! I am convinced mine are doing nothing!!

Beherenow32 · 12/06/2018 16:05

@Ginandtonic31 I can feel them today. Like there’s pressure where my ovaries are. Feel some cramps and pulling too. I’ve been stimming for 6 days now.
My lining was only 4mm too. Everything better grow 😅

How are you doing with protein? My DH is getting sick of me talking about how much I’m eating/ if it’s not enough lol. I should prob stop talking about it! X
