IVF/ICSI June/July 2018

Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Amazing news for you both @windmill1828 - can’t belive how dramatically things can change with IVF/ICSI. I’m glad to hear that your medical team are really working hard to cover all options for you. Sending you lots of love and everything crossed for this working out for you.

@Windmill1828 well I did talk to them a lot before I went under and kept apologising about my hairy legs 🙈 as we are going on holiday I'm waiting to get them waxed 😂😂

@Windmill1828 yep, they just poo pooed my as they put my legs in the stirrups! Lol

We are going to Spain on 19th for two weeks, preg test due on 20th. So I've had to buy two extra weeks of oestrogen in case it's successful. Timing isn't great, but my bro is getting married abroad next year and I did not want to be heavily pregnant or have a brand spanning newborn! So it was either now, or wait until until after Christmas. But I'm not a patient person...!!

Feeling fine. Other half took me for brunch and I stuffed my face. Back on the diet now...currently in bed with a book. Bliss!

I started dreaming about injections and things last night and tossing and turning and I don’t start until Friday! Can’t be doing with two more nights of that!!

@moleeye I'm ok thanks hun! Head is all over the place. Waiting to see what the outcome is today! Obviously I've totally got my hopes up again which could be shattered but that's the ivf game isn't it?
With only three fertilised I'm worried that we might only get one blasts to freeze. If that's the case then I'm not sure I'd want to risk it. I think I'd go away and have the op and come back and transfer.
If we have more than one, then I'd be more willing to give it a shot but with a 50% less chance of implantation and double the chance of miscarriage it's a risk!!

My head is a mess right now!

That's good that you have a holiday planned - either good news or bad, you'll be able to take your mind off it by being away - in the sunshine!! 😄😄😄 xx

Ok - update:
Nurse consultant (lovely) called me back and has spoken to the top dog at the clinic.
They've agreed to see me for a scan on Sunday (that's if we make blasto) to see if fluid in the tubes is still there and if not or she thinks it's something else, we can transfer!!! 😲
Oh my gosh! 🤭This week is going to be so stressful!
My heart is in my mouth! 🙈
It feels like the right thing to do. Better than just being left yesterday with no options. I feel like this wraps things up better regardless of the outcome! Xx

I hope I don’t have two more nights thinking about it! And I hope my period comes!! I even made it to work on time today as I was awake early 😂

I’ve just had my day 7 stimulation scan check on follicles. Ive been on 150iu of menopur.
There are 11 follicles but they are a tiny 4.5mm and the doctor has told me I need to increase my dosage to a whopping 450iu to help them grow to at least 18mm by next Wednesday.

I know the doctors know what they are doing but I’m still apprehensive about why they are so small and whether I’m doing something wrong. Also worried about taking such a high dose.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

@Windmill1828 gosh! You must be all over the place. Sounds like you have a wonderful nurse and they are really taking care of you

Hi @Dia12 I was on 450 of Ovaleap a night for two weeks which worked for me as I had EC this morning.

A lot can happen in a week, I had some big jumps in growth from last tuesdays scan, to Friday and again on Monday.

Good luck hun, it is daunting isn't it. I cried when they told me how high my dose was, but it worked for me x

Ah thanks @moleeye that’s reassuring to know. Yeh, definitely daunting.
Just had a bit of a panic when the doc told me to take 6 ampules and the whole appointment was over with so quick that I didn’t even get the opportunity to ask.

I guess I need to just get on with it and switch my mind off for a while.

I'm feeling a bit battered now if I'm honest. Had a three hour nap earlier and currently lounging on the sofa with a hot water bottle after taking a couple paracetamol.

I think you've earned the right to lounge as long as you like today and fairly possibly for the whole week too you've been through a trauma!

I had some low level cramps in the evening after EC and have had some really light ones on and off since. But totally manageable.

Remember to relax and let your other half take care of you and everything else for the next month fortnight!
