Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Sorry to hear things haven't gone so well for you @windmill we put such a lot into the process it's heart breaking when on top of infertility you get dealt another curve ball.
@ivory good news on your 3 embryos

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 19:36

I feel a bit better now I've got over the initial shock and drugs! Still sad and terrified that we won't get some to Freeze but I've done all I can now.
My nurse who did all my scans has been off today so I've not been able to talk to her and discuss options properly but in my heart I think the op is the wisest and safest thing to do than waste Frosties.

Hows everyone else feeling?
@IvoryCloud your little embies will be dancing away!! When do you get another update? Xx

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 20:07

Ok - so here's something that'll cheer you all up on a plain old Tuesday night...

So I've not mentioned much about egg collection after the shock of what happened after it but...

I went in, was asked to change into a robe and put a funky hat thing on and some cool blue feet/shoe protectors.
Feeling totally glamorous having zero makeup, nail varnish or indeed moisturiser (free facelift), bloated and hot- this just added to my wonderful look!
To be honest, I didn't care actually, I was glad to be getting these follies out as they had become very uncomfortable!
Then I saw the anesthetist and he signed everything off - that's when I walked into the theatre. It was very similar to the scanning rooms I'd already been used to apart the the stirrups were funky feet ones that strap you in!!
After telling at least 10 people my name and date of birth the amazing magic stuff was pumped through my veins and that was it... next thing I know, I'm being wheeled back to my little room where DP was patiently waiting for me... that's when the fun begins... oh my god... cringe!🙈🙈🙈

So - I think I'm absolutely fine and alert and can't believe how quickly I've recovered and not groggy at all I am.
That's when I decide to have a full blown conversations with the staff about how the print (random blobs) on the curtains was definitely a variety of flip flops and serving spoons! 🙈🙈🙈 CRINGE!!!

Then apparently in front of two nurses I ask DP if he managed to do his "wanky McWank" properly and asked him in a very loud voice if he spilled any! 😳 omg!
Then.. to top it all off, I asked the nurse in a very serious manner if I could have a glass of wine instead of the coffee she had just given me!! 🙈😂
There were other bits and bobs and god only knows what I'd been saying before that point but apparently the nurses thought it was hilarious - luckily!!!! 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

So girls... be warned... it's loopy juice they give you! 😂😂 it's great fun though! 🤣🤣🤣

moleeye · 05/06/2018 20:11

Awwww @Windmill1828 that is a completely understandable reaction. Such a torrid mix of emotions. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. So hard to know what to do for the best isn't it x

I've got egg collection at 8.30am, trying to relax a bit as am a tad nervous....

moleeye · 05/06/2018 20:14

Hahahaha @Windmill1828. That is bloody terrific!!!! Your DP can regale you with this for a long time!

Bet you are cringing inside!! Sorry, but I am really chuckle at the thought of you asking for wine as you come to!! 😂😂

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 20:17

@moleeye honestly, as @IvoryCloud and I will tell you, it's a breeze, it really is! It's the uncertainty of the outcome that's the horrible bit! You'll be fine! I promise! 😘
And you know what? I still feel fine now too! 😄

Please please keep us posted on how you get on! I have everything crossed for you!! ❤️❤️

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 20:20

@moleeye I really am cringing... and the more the day goes on the more embarrassed I feel! 🤣🙈

Oh - and apparently I told the nurse that the anesthetist looked like a darker version of Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones! 😳Oh god! 😂🙈
It's no wonder they cancelled transfer! 😂😂😂😂🙈

moleeye · 05/06/2018 20:41

Hahahahaha @Windmill1828 you're killing me 😂😂😂😂😂

You're right though, cannot wait to get these out of me. My tummy has gotten so far and bloated today, it's quite painful and uncomfortable!

moleeye · 05/06/2018 20:41

*fat!

Stupid phone....

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 21:02

@moleeye that's a good sign! Mine was and instead of two I had six!
Last night, every step i took it felt like my ovaries were banging against each other!
I hardly slept either, the apartment that we hired for the night was sooooo hot and it was right next to a church and every half an hour and on the hour the bloody bells went off! 😫 I don't know how I'm still awake - think it's all the embarrassment! 😂😂

I wonder what happens to the other follicles that were half baked. I did have about 15 that were on their way! 🤔

CritterTamer · 05/06/2018 21:09

@Windmill1828 - glad you’re feeling a little better. The “wanky mcwank” comment just cracked me up!

@Moleeye - good luck for tomorrow morning!

As for me baseline be scan done and all was good to go - first injection over and done with 😁

Ginandtonic31 · 05/06/2018 23:12

@windmill1828 that’s hilarious!! I hope you find out soon what the next steps are. I know it won’t really help, but we also have to have any we get frozen as it takes around 6 months to build our genetic test. Do you have any private health insurance are anything you could be referred through to speed investigations/surgery up?

@moleeye good luck tomorrow!

So i stopped the contraceptive pill Sunday night and now eagerly awaiting my period before my scan and blood tests Friday morning. Terrified it won’t come by Thursday and the whole cyckecwill he cancelled or my hormones will be all over.

I’m really very scared about gaining weight. Does it tend to be real weight gain or just bloat that goes soon after? Going to try and keep swimming each day to keep up some gentle exercise. I’ll nip to primark I think for leggings, jeggings, baggy tops and dresses in a size up. Just hoping now that when we get go ahead for collection the hotels and train are a reasonable price!

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 23:26

@Ginandtonic31 the other half has me on his medical insurance but it doesn't cover this! 😞

I've definitely put on weight. I think the average is 7lb per cycle but I've been very relaxed and fed my body while I was stimming.
Now I've got some hard work to do!
Didn't buy any extra clothes though - I think you'll be ok.

It's been tough 6 hours a day in the car and hotels etc and what's worse is we didn't get the ending we wanted but hey ho.
It's all worth it just for the shot huh?

Xxx

IvoryCloud · 05/06/2018 23:45

Thanks @TheArtfulScreamer!

Grin at Wanky McWank 😂

Great that you're sounding positive, Windmill. What an amazing sedation story! Great tale for a future dinner party! 😂🤣😂

My next update will be Thursday morning. I'll either be asked to go in that same day for ET, or to wait for Saturday for ET. Tomorrow, I go back to work!

@moleeye, as @Windmill said, the procedure will be a breeze! Just watch your antics after the sedation Grin

Thinking of you both, @moleeye for EC tomorrow and @Windmill for the 24 hour update! Good luck and fingers crossed for the best news xx Keep us posted!

@CritterTamer, well done on that first injection!

moleeye · 06/06/2018 05:46

Thanks for all the luck! Am sitting in bed listening to the OH snore breathe, and wishing I could have a coffee!

@Ginandtonic31 I've put on 2.5lb so far and that was basically this week from the trigger shot. I do slimming world and get weighed weekly. It's just bloating in my tum so far, am hoping it subsides a bit after today!! I think my period came about 3 days after the pill stopped, fingers crossed it comes quickly. Something we never usually hope for eh?! Xx

@Windmill1828 fingers crossed for your update today. What a long day you had yesterday, it must have really taken it out of you x

@CritterTamer excellent news. Glad all was well with the scan

@IvoryCloud Hoping you get a really positive call tomorrow. Do you know how many they want to put back in? My clinic want to put two back (all going well that is), we aren't sure what to decide 🙈

Xx

moleeye · 06/06/2018 05:47

Stupid strikethrough fail! Snore

😂😂

IvoryCloud · 06/06/2018 07:15

I hope you managed to get back to sleep @moleeye! Nothing like listening to your other half snoring away when you're wide awake yourself!

I'm excited for you today Grin Good luck!

I don't know for sure how many they'll suggest I transfer, but I suspect one. That's safer, isn't it. Plus the thought of having potentially two newborns might sound exciting, but I can only imagine how hard that would be long term for us all.

Anyway, don't want to get ahead of myself! I'm taking each day as it comes atm. Currently focusing on getting ready for work today! I'll have their advice tomorrow morning xx

Ginandtonic31 · 06/06/2018 07:21

Oh no the well got thing scares me as I gained 8lb on holiday and two weeks later still carrying it. I really wanted to get it off in time. My nurse said I shouldn’t gain weight and if I do it’s from eating too much so I guess I just need to be extra careful.

Let us know how you all get on today!

Windmill1828 · 06/06/2018 07:39

@moleeye wishing you all the luck today!!! 😁😁😁 fingers crossed it all goes well!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Update us when you can! Xxxx

moleeye · 06/06/2018 09:58

Hi ladies! Just sitting in recovery where I've stuffed my face with biscuits 🙈

Doctor said they collected 10 eggs which I'm really happy with. Just waiting on the embryologist to come and have a chat.

Off my face on the drugs though 😂. Other half is going to take me for breakfast then I'm going home to go and sleep all afternoon.

Will let you know if there's anymore info xx

Windmill1828 · 06/06/2018 10:01

Update from me on this rollercoaster of a journey!
Spoke to my nurse consultant just now, she's the one who's been scanning me every other day and she shocked and surprised at the outcome of yesterday and wonders is maybe it's not a hydro but something else left over from the ectopic??
She wonders if it's worth continuing with the transfer?? 😳😳😳 oh my goodness!
She's going to speak with the professor at the hospital and suggest that if we get to a day 5 blast, especially if there's more than one, to go in, he scans and then assess again if we transfer or go straight to freeze.
He might say no but she's still going to ask!
She's ringing me back later! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Windmill1828 · 06/06/2018 10:02

Further update:
2 of my eggs weren't quite mature enough to fertilise.
1 sat on its bum and did nothing
But three fertilised and look good! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

moleeye · 06/06/2018 10:07

Wow @Windmill1828 what a rollercoaster of emotions you must be feeling right now!

Amazing that three fertilised, that is a fantastic result. It really does show its quality over quantity doesn't it.

Really hoping for a good outcome for you and hubby. Thinking of you xx

Windmill1828 · 06/06/2018 10:12

@moleeye I missed your post while I was writing mine!

Wooohooooo! Ten!!! Amazing!!!! Just think - even if half make it, that's FIVE!!!!! 😁😁😁😁

Glad your ok!
Please talk loads of nonsense and make me feel better about my morning yesterday! 😂😂😂

Well done!! You've done an amazing job! Xxxx

Dia12 · 06/06/2018 10:20

Hi guys, just catching on everyone’s events last couple of days. Hope you’re all doing well.

So happy to hear that you’ve got 6 follies @Windmill1828 despite the sad news about the fluid. I hope they all fertilise into healthy embryos for you and then it’s only a matter of time before you can look forward to ET. In the meanwhile, hope you are able to use this bit of extra time to look after yourself, both mentally and physically. Loved your loopy juice story - hilarious!!!!

Congrats @Ivorycloud - 3 embryos! That’s wonderful, best of luck for tomorrow’s call. The whole waiting game must drive you nuts!

Hope the EC has gone smoothly @moleeye, look forward to your update. Fingers crossed for you. Xx

@Ginandtonic13 - I’ve been trying to lose weight I’d gained through stress and feeling down all last year and I’m still in the process of losing it. I have another stone to go to ideal weight but unsure how I can continue losing weight during this process. I’ve read you can do low intensity exercise such as jogging, walking and swimming. I’m not following SW but understand that you can still stay on plan as long your nutritionally balanced. I’m trying low carb, high protein right now.
