Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Hi! Had a quick scan of messages. So, sorry if I get confused, miss anything...

@IvoryCloud all 3 fertilising is brilliant! They must be strong little eggs. 😃

@Windmill1828 congrats on 6 eggs! Sorry if I missed how many fertilised. How are you feeling physically? I know your head must be all over place! Sending lots of good vibes, hoping you can go ahead with transfer.

@moleeye 10 eggs is amazing. Might read back through the thread, and see if you have any tips 😂😂 I’ll be starting the protein soon.

@Dia12 there’s still hope, but I can see why you’re stressed. It’s a big increases in drugs... maybe it will give them a boost.

My first scan during down regg is tomorrow. Usually I get sent away to do more injections before stimming, but I’m so keen just to get started now 😩

Dia12 · 06/06/2018 20:18

Thanks @beherenow - hope your scan goes well tomorrow, even if it’s a few more days of downregging it gives you a bit more time to eat well and prep your body. Xxx

Beherenow32 · 06/06/2018 20:53

@Dia12 that’s very true! I am a lot more patient than I have been in the past. So, I’ll keep that frame of mind.
😊

Ginandtonic31 · 06/06/2018 20:56

So if my period doesn’t come tomorrow how long do I give it? Do I still just rock up Friday morning do we think and hope I’m on the verge of it happening?!

Beherenow32 · 07/06/2018 10:25

@Ginandtonic31 think you should still go to the hospital... my first cycle, my period didn’t come, just spotting. I went in for a scan and a mock transfer, that brought on my period, and I took the injections etc away.

That’s my on stimulation drugs now! 225 of Gonal f.

Hope all going ok with everyone xx

Ginandtonic31 · 07/06/2018 10:38

Thanks @Beherenow32. I think it’s trying to start. The trouble is, if I’m not ready to start injections tomorrow my cycle is cancelled and back on the waiting list.

Beherenow32 · 07/06/2018 10:42

@Ginandtonic31 oh really?!? That’s such a stress. What about lots of walking, ginger tea, hot water bottle/ baths? I read these help, although not sure there’s much truth in it 😣
I would give the Hospital a phone. Would they put you on medication to bring it on? X

Ginandtonic31 · 07/06/2018 10:56

@Beherenow32 I only have until tomorrow! I finished my last combined contraceptive pill on Sunday so it really should be coming! OH said a bit of ahem May help but then I said I can’t be havin an internal scam after that!!!

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 07/06/2018 11:14

Hi ladies

moleeye love the hairy legs, hope you have a fab holiday! Desperate for one but we’ve been doing the usual putting it off just in case so haven’t been for waaaaay too long!

ginandtonic I had my meds appointment yesterday and they said to still go for scan if still bleeding or haven’t bled. I hope it’s not cancelled for you!! Why would they cancel altogether? Is that normal?

windmill I hope all goes smoothly ready for Sunday

dia I’m worried I’m on a fairly low does as they were worried I’d over stimulate but what if it doesn’t do what they expect! Everything is a worry isn’t it Confused

So I’m on day 1 of 10 on Norethisterone today! Woohoo, feel like we’re finally getting somewhere now! Keeping my positive pants firmly on!

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 07/06/2018 11:15

Ps, ginandtonic I’m loving your DH’s enthusiasm in helping Grin

Ginandtonic31 · 07/06/2018 11:35

So I’m slightly spotting so I’m hoping it’s on its way. Also raiding my desk drawer at work for ginger tea Grin

@LoveYouTilTheEnd so with mine if I go tomorrow and my hormones etc aren’t right to start my whole cycle is cancelled. Because my biopsy date is scheduled for w/c 18th (basically they biopsy the embryos before freezing them so they can test them for the genetic abnormality) I’m on a strict schedule of dates. If it doesn’t tie together and I can’t have biopsy that week I then have to wait for a second biopsy date (which will be about 4 months away) and then start cycle two. If that makes any sense at all!!

LoveYouTilTheEnd · 07/06/2018 12:13

Oh wow! Completely keeping fingers crossed for you! When things like that happen it certainly makes it difficult not to feel the pressure or feel like you’ve somehow done something wrong, which of course you can’t have done!

Ginandtonic31 · 07/06/2018 12:24

@LoveYouTilTheEnd luckily I’ve not let it be something I’ve thought about until now. But then I know if I stress now it won’t come!

CritterTamer · 07/06/2018 20:27

Hi ladies

Hope you’re all well today and coping with the waiting ok!

Just a quick question - does anyone else have a lot of pain and discomfort around the injection site and across their tummy after infecting their menopur? The nurse didnt tell me to expect anything like this so just wondering if I’m doing it wrong!

Beherenow32 · 07/06/2018 20:48

@CritterTamer I don’t remember any pain with menopur. I had a very full feeling, and couldn’t eat much. But no pain. Xx

longrd · 07/06/2018 21:09

@CritterTamer it sounds like your having the "menopur burn" try putting a ice pack on the area for 5 mins before you inject I found that helps.

CritterTamer · 07/06/2018 21:14

Thanks ladies, yes been doing a bit of googling and it seems this pain is fairly common so I’m less worried now 😊 I dont think icing will help as it’s not so much the actual inj3ction (although that hurts a lot!), it’s more the horrible stabbing burning and cramps pains that start straight after and last about 45 minutes - feels like having more needles stuck in my tummy 😩 Guess I will have to grin and bear it but I did read somewhere to not use it straight from the fridge and inject really slowly so will try that tomorrow.

Beherenow32 · 07/06/2018 21:27

@CritterTamer I just started Gonal f today. And tonight had a reeeally bloated and painful stomach. A hot water bottle helped. I’m not sure if it’s the injection or not xx

Ginandtonic31 · 07/06/2018 21:31

@BeHereNow32 uh oh I didn’t think that would start straight away! Thought I would have a few days grace! So we may end up with egg collection at same time of tomorrow goes ok for me.

Beherenow32 · 07/06/2018 22:00

@Ginandtonic31 it’s nit long at all 😯 good luck for tomorrow xx

Timpani · 07/06/2018 22:02

Hi all. I'm due to start meds for my FET in a few days but because I've had loads of pelvic pain recently they want me in for a TV'S first. I'm freaking out as haven't had anything like this since round 1 years ago and the Dr said he could feel a lump/hard bit where my pain is. :(

Dia12 · 07/06/2018 22:17

Sounds awful @crittertamer, glad to hear it’s nothing serious. I have a little bit of a burning sensation post injection but it’s only for a few minutes.

@loveyoutiltheend I was worried my dose was too low (150 iu menopur) initially and when they increased it to 450 iu after a week I was then stressed it was way too high! You just end up worrying about everything Confused ! Anyway, it’s defo better to start cautious and up your meds and avoid OHSS. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

I’m in for another scan tomorrow morning to see if the amped up stimulation is helping my teeny tiny follies to grow better!

CritterTamer · 07/06/2018 22:37

@Dia12 - good luck for scan tomorrow 😊

My starting dose of menopur was 300iu - seems high compared to you guys. Do you mind me asking what your AMH level was?

longrd · 07/06/2018 22:53

Sorry the icing is to help with the burn after you've injected...it's weird I know but it helps me a lot.

I'm on 450 menopur I have a low amh of 4.5

Dia12 · 07/06/2018 23:13

@crittertamer - I’m 38, AMH of 20, and the starting dose of 150 iu for a week was just the doctors being extra cautious as this is my first ICSI.
The doctor did say say he expects that my follicles won’t be ready until next week (even with the higher dose). Will just have to roll with it!
