Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Windmill1828 · 04/06/2018 21:33

Urgh - I'm in loads of discomfort now! I really need to lay these eggs!!! 🐥

Just been out for dinner. Going to get an early night and hopefully some sleep! 😁

@IvoryCloud were you in pain before EC? Xxx

Beherenow32 · 04/06/2018 22:29

Won’t be keeping up with messages as I’m away. But so happy your ec went well @IvoryCloud. Hope you get good news tomorrow.

And lots of luck to @Windmill

Tigerlily99 · 04/06/2018 22:53

@ivorycloud- congrats on your egg collection, hope you get some good looking embryos 🤞
@windmill, good luck for tomorrow! Hope it goes well
@physicskate, I started on 150 Gonal F, dropped to 125 and finally 112.5 and ended up with mild OHSS post transfer (no polycystic ovaries or PCOS). They collected 22 eggs and we had 11 blasts in total (about 1/2 were so so in quality) with 9 frozen. At any rate I do think it is a case of quality over quantity, my best embies didn’t lead to a successful pregnancy but I’ve seen plenty of stories of ladies getting 1/2 embies with a positive outcome. My understanding is that 150 is a pretty standard dose to start Gonal F for first cycle. They can adjust the dose up or down depending on how you are responding. Good luck!

I’ve finally started my AF today so step closer to starting FET! Start buserelin in 2 weeks with first scan for early July. 😄

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 07:24

Ok - here we go!!!! 🤞🏼🙈🤞🏼🙈🤞🏼 nervous is an understatement xx

IvoryCloud · 05/06/2018 07:31

Hi @Windmill!

Just logging in to wish you good luck for today Smile - it'll be fine, and a little bit eggciting!! groan

I wasn't in pain before EC, but definitely bloated and full. Needed some paracetamol later on after EC yesterday evening due to discomfort, think because I had been moving around making beds (naughty!) when I should have been resting - so make sure you completely chill out and rest for the rest of the day afterwards - you may feel fine, but don't push it! Let yourself be spoiled by your DP!

Anyway, hope you managed to get some sleep! Good luck again and let us know later how you got on xxx

IvoryCloud · 05/06/2018 07:34

Thanks @Beherenow and @Tigerlily!

moleeye · 05/06/2018 07:35

@Windmill1828 good luck! Thinking of you this morning, hope all goes well xxx

physicskate · 05/06/2018 08:26

Thanks for reassuring me @Tigerlily99 and @MrsK1087. Makes me feel a bit better. Cycle 1 is just a massive experiment after all!

@TheArtfulScreamer I think I'm more nervous now than in the run up...

Super good luck today @Windmill1828 and @IvoryCloud! Hopeful about the two of you!!

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 13:12

Hi guys,

Well today didn't go as well as hoped for.
We did manage to get 6 which was a surprise but sadly we've had to try to freeze them all as they found fluid in one of my tubes which would be toxic to an embryo.
Gutted as it didn't show on scans. :-(
Not sure what are options are now - heartbroken doesn't cover it 😢😢 but looks like another wait to be referred to the waiting list for nhs surgery to remove tubes or risk it not being there again on fet. 😢

IvoryCloud · 05/06/2018 13:52

Hi @Windmill. I'm sorry to hear your EC did not go as well as you would have liked. Have you had a chance to discuss options with your Consultant yet? Take care of yourself. I wish you a speedy recovery from today and hope you can remain positive, whatever your options may be xx

Sending you hugs and best wishes xx

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 14:00

@IvoryCloud thanks sweetheart. EC was a doddle but obviously I'm devastated about them not being able to transfer. The doc suggested that I go back next cycle for another scan to see if it's there. Problem is, they checked on Friday and it wasn't apparently so seems a bit pointless to waste a frostie if this is the case again.
Looks like surgery will be my only hope. To be honest, if none of the embryos make it to freezing I think I'll just give up.
I had massive surgery two months ago for an ectopic that was still alive in my tube. All the ivf scans and drugs and blood tests and travelling to London.
And now this!
I'm not sure if I can take another surgery only to start all over again 😢

Gavinmaxine1 · 05/06/2018 14:13

@Windmill1828 Awk my goodness that really is gut wrenching I'm sooo sorry to hear this. It's a gruelling process. Maybe in few weeks you might feel little stronger about doing it again.. diff situation I know but after my failed 1st I was adamant not to put myself through it. A little time to digest you may feel different. Don't give up hope xx

IvoryCloud · 05/06/2018 14:26

Give yourself some time @Windmill, as much as you need. Talk it over with your DP, trusted friends and your medical team. It sounds like a horrendous shock, to have been given this news, but you don't have to make any decisions now. Always here, if you'd like to talk about it xx

CritterTamer · 05/06/2018 14:57

@Ivorycloud - congrats 😊

@Windmill1828 - I’m so sorry to read that, I can understand why you must be devastated. What a horrible choice you have to make now. Taking the positives from it at least you have potentially six embryos to freeze so s good chance for a positive outcome still once you’ve dealt with the fluid issue?

Sending thoughts and hugs your way xxx

moleeye · 05/06/2018 15:03

Oh @Windmill1828 I'm so sorry to hear that. I can imagine how devastated you are. Please look after yourself. Glad you've got 6 embryo's but what a shock that the fluid wasn't there on previous scan and has now appeared

My heart goes out to you and how disappointed you are feeling. You've really been through the wringer these last couple months. Big hugs

Still here for you xxx

Windmill1828 · 05/06/2018 15:26

@moleeye @CritterTamer @IvoryCloud thanks ladies.
Yeah, I'm totally gutted but I am strong willed usually, I've already been googling how much it is to go private and get the op done quickly so I can jump back on the ivf wagon! 😂 running out of money fast though! 🙈
Apparently it's 6-12 months on nhs and then 3 cycles before you can go for fet/ivf.
I'm still not home yet. Fed up with this London run! 🙄
Trying to focus on the positives - we got SIX eggs - was only expecting two. And DPs little men were even better than last time! Let's hope we make it to freezing!
I did ask twice if they all started to look like they might not make day 5 freeze then rather then throw it all away they could transfer back to me but it was a no! Apparently if they're not good enough to freeze they're not likely to implant! 😳
