Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

@Hopeful1990

Hey hope your ok, I just feel nervous at everything to be honest, we had a eventful last night. My wife woke up on the middle of the night feeling sick and had a hot flush, she put a mint in her mouth and about 1 hour later felt fine and was back to normal.

She had ordered a few pregnancy tests a clear blue and a first response and she did both in the morning clear blue said pregnant and first response had 2 stronger lines then the test we did on Friday, but this journey feels so stressful and I am assuming every test I.e Monday’s and hopefully going on further, will give us sleepness nights lol.

Wishing everyone luck for the upcoming tests and appointments

@misty20

Hey thank you.
Abc can be a bit frustrating, I think it’s because they are so strict on their criteria’s, certain times we had to tell them that we were unhappy but to their defence they always tried to accommodate.

They hadn’t told us about the egg situation only on the day of extraction when my wife underwent the procedure the doctor at create came out and told us, maybe it was for the best and allowed my wife’s Body is to calm down.

Wishing you luck for Friday.

Hopeful1990 · 06/09/2020 10:58

@misty20 thank you.

@Lindors yeah I've had a few moments over the past few days and feeling suddenly really hot and sick but it passes after a little bit.

I know what you mean. I feel like my nerves are on edge 24/7. Thank goodness its test day tomorrow cos my heart can't take much more haha. Good luck for tomorrow, although it doesn't sound like you'll need it.

Kelbell86 · 06/09/2020 11:50

@Hopeful1990 and @Lindors I have everything crossed that you both have good news, I'll be watching with anticipation for your updates ☘️🤞🏻

@misty20 I'm doing okay, I'll be day 4 stims tonight with my first scan being tomorrow, I'm just really hoping everything responds well this time now my dosage is higher 😊

Yeah they were an hour and a half behind the first time I ever went, then the call centre booked me in for the second but the nurse wasn't told and I sat there for over an hour thinking it was just normal they run behind 🤣 they did get better after that though albeit they do tend to run a little behind most days at my clinic.
I have to say they have been much more organised this time around, I get emails and info re scan dates and times which I never did last time. I think the covid situation must have made it really tricky for them. How are you feeling now? Xx

Hopeful1990 · 06/09/2020 17:13

Ladies...

I'm really worried its all over now. Its our test day tomorrow but I've just had a small amount of pink blood when I went to the toilet. And I've had non stop cramps for days. I'm really worried my period is coming. Did this happen to anyone else but the outcome was positive? This is our first experience of ivf and I feel hopeless now.

I've my husband and I have agreed we will do a home test tonight but I don't know whether it'll be accurate at this time of day.

Ro198 · 06/09/2020 17:41

Hope the test is okay @Hopeful1990. I had cramps and was convinced it hadn’t worked too but it was fine. Others have had spotting since receiving their positive tests are they are fine too. Good luck.

misty20 · 06/09/2020 19:26

@Kelbell86
Ahh what dose are you on? Hope all goes well tomorrow. I have my second scan tomorrow.
Aww that's good. I've not had emails or anything but hopefully rest of my appointments run on time as got parents etc helping worh my 3 year old.

@Hopeful1990 I'm keeping eveything crossed for you 🙏 hopefully just spotting and its nothing else.

Ladies what time did you all do your Cetrotide injection. I start it tomorrow and I can't do it myslef 🙈 so hubby has to do before work

Lindors · 06/09/2020 22:53

@Hopeful1990

When I have read up on things I have heard spotting is quite consistent, so don’t assume the worst, our minds can some Times be our worst enemy, just try to think positively.

@misty20
I did all my wife’s injections as she wasn’t able to inject herself too. Abc gave us timings of when all injections were meant to be taken so we followed the guidelines.

Kelbell86 · 07/09/2020 01:16

@misty20 I'm on 187.5 bemfola this time whereas I was 125 last time. I was taking my cetrotide at the same time as my bemfola at 7pm every day. The clinic said they could be done together. I do the bemfola myself but I also had the hubby do my cetrotide... The slightly bigger needle scared me 🤣
Good luck for scan 2 tomorrow!

@Hopeful1990 I've seen quite a few ladies say they had spotting and it seems quite common. When I got pregnant on letrozole I had a lot of cramping and I was convinced it was AF but it wasn't so try not to fret. I really hope its good news for you xx

Hopeful1990 · 07/09/2020 09:05

Unfortunately we got a negative and I've been told to stop all the meds. Can't quite believe it. I had so many symptoms, and we used a 6aa grade embryo. I know that doesn't guarantee anything. Feel like I don't know what to do with myself right now.

misty20 · 07/09/2020 09:52

@Hopeful1990
Oh I'm so sorry! 😢 Did you test this morning? How many days after your transfer is it? Was really thinking it was a postive for you x

Hopeful1990 · 07/09/2020 14:33

@misty20 yeah I tested first thing this morning at about 6.30am with two tests to be sure and both the first response and the clearblue were negative. I rang the clinic when they opened at 8am and I told her about the small amount of pink blood I had last night and I asked could it maybe be too soon to test and should I wait a bit longer but she said no. Today is day 11 and she said it would have shown in my urine today if i was pregnant and that I should stop all the meds.

Does anyone know how long I should expect to wait to see my period now? I was taking estrogen tablets and doing progesterone pessaries on a frozen transfer cycle. X

Kelbell86 · 07/09/2020 15:31

@Hopeful1990 I'm so so sorry to hear this 😞 I really hoped it was going to be ood news for you. I hadn't got anywhere near where you are but when they abandoned the cycle I pigged out on everything I wasn't allowed and wallowed in self pity for a couple of days and I definitely felt it helped a little. Be kind to yourself and take what time you need to recover lovely xx

Kelbell86 · 07/09/2020 15:32

@misty20 how was your scan? Xx

Lindors · 07/09/2020 16:09

@Hopeful1990

Hey, really gutted for you was hoping you would get good news. Take a day or so out and look after yourself and your husband too.

Then you can reevaluate what you want to to.

Also regarding period it’s something I have read up but I heard you have an withdrawal bleed first then your proper one will come along but I maybe wrong, best to ask abc what the next steps are for you. If you don’t mind me asking Do you have more frozen embryos to do another fet.

Hopeful1990 · 07/09/2020 18:56

@Lindors

Hi thanks for the reply. I hope that you and your wife got the confirmation of good news today.

I've barely reacted today, only cried for about 30 seconds. I think it hasn't sunk in it to be honest. Perhaps tomorrow it will.

Thankfully we have 5 embryos in the freezer so we will be able to try again. They are having a meeting at the clinic on Thursday to discuss us and our next steps, and we will receive a phone call after that. We've decided not to make any decisions until the news of this cycle has sunk in properly and we've had a follow up with the clinic so we have a chance to ask our questions.

I think my period is already starting very lightly. At this stage I'd like to just get mother nature over and done with. I'm the type of person who can distract myself too much from my feelings sometimes and not deal with things so I'm going to try and be careful not to do that. We visited our best friends today to share the news and have some hugs. They have a newborn baby and it was weirdly nice actually to have some cuddles with her, she was soothing haha.

Wishing you and your wife all the best! X

Hopeful1990 · 07/09/2020 18:58

@Kelbell86

Sorry I didn't spot you had replied to me as well. Thank you for your kind words and advice. My husband is out right now as I type this picking up a stupid amount of Chinese food for us to pig out on. He's even been able to take a bit of time off work in the next week so we will just be spending some time together. Smile

Lindors · 07/09/2020 19:04

@Hopeful1990

Yes we received good news today thanks for asking, they have booked as in for a early scan towards the end of this month, we just want to take a weekly approach on things.

That’s good to know you have 5 in the freezer, it’s nice to know you have options, I think your doing the right thing And waiting till Thursday after they call you to decide what you will do next.

Hopeful1990 · 07/09/2020 19:11

@Lindors

Fantastic news for you both. Yeah I can only imagine the nerves stay with you even after the test results. But I wish you all the best and I hope things continue to progress well. X

Kelbell86 · 07/09/2020 20:08

@Hopeful1990 that's good that your husband has some time off! Enjoy your Chinese and it's really nice to hear you found some comfort seeing your friends. I hope Thursday goes okay xx

@Lindors congratulations to you and your wife on your news and good luck for the scan 😊

Lindors · 07/09/2020 20:33

@Kelbell86
Thank you and good luck too.

misty20 · 08/09/2020 09:20

@Hopeful1990 Im really gutted for you. Try keep yourself busy and not let it get you down. Enjoy your time off with your husband and it will happen for you im sure. (heart) xx

misty20 · 08/09/2020 09:26

@Lindors Congratulations! Amazing news for you.

@Kelbell86 all good with scan, she said to carry on with bemfola at 150 and I also started cetrotide monday morning. another scan tomorrow and then they will decide if egg collection happens friday eeek!

Feels so weird with it happening so quickly as on the NHS it took a lot longer where I had to do down regulation and was on injections for much longer. NHS cycles are more about quantity I think then quality. very excited nut nervous too!
How are you getting on? is your next scan tomorrow too? xx

misty20 · 08/09/2020 13:24

@BrownHoney hi how are you doing? xx

Kelbell86 · 08/09/2020 14:21

@misty20 yes next scan is tomorrow. They introduced my cetrotide really early this time, I had to start it last night on day 5 of stims and now I'm worrying because the last time I started it was when my follicles stopped growing so we shall see what happens.

I had 31 follicles but 7 are racing ahead at 11mm and the rest are below 7mm so I've not idea if they can catch up or not?

How exciting that you could be having collection on Friday! That's great news, where are you at with follicles and size? Xx
