Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

@user1475505106 hi there! Could I please ask you how did you find ABC Wimbledon branch ? I want to be sure before I choose the clinic ! Thank you

user1475505106 · 02/09/2020 10:12

@AGGA1 I didn't like Wimbledon. They are lovely people, but really inexperienced. IVF costs a lot and is a life changing decision. You need the BEST care and unfortunately, didn't feel like that all the way through at ABC.

user1475505106 · 02/09/2020 10:14

If this cycle doesn't work, I will not be using any spare embryos. We are looking at IVI Madrid. Their cost is just slightly more than ABC and from what I've read outstanding.

AGGA1 · 02/09/2020 10:30

@user1475505106 thank you for your reply , I feel sorry about that Sad. It such a stress to find a good clinic with a reasonable price. I have heard about good clinics in spain,someone I know at the age of 45 got pregnant there.

AGGA1 · 02/09/2020 10:34

@Ro198 thank you for your reply ! I am in a middle cross now 😔. Its too hard to find a good clinic and with reasonable price . Thank you

Ro198 · 02/09/2020 10:41

@AGGA1 I’m only 6 weeks pregnant now, I went to Harley street very recently!

I feel exactly the same as user, nice people, didn’t feel like the treatment was good. I wouldn’t want any of my family or friends to go to abc. I guess you get what you pay for.

AGGA1 · 02/09/2020 12:05

@Ro198 thank you for the reply , I am so happy for you, congratulations !

misty20 · 02/09/2020 13:16

@AGGA1
Im with harley street too, they are ok. they are a bit slow and hard to contact but apart from that happy so far. consults were good on zoom, staff seem very friendly. I don't know if Wimbledon will be the same. just bare in mind you need to go for scans every few days once on injections so depending where you live and which is easier to get to may help your choice.

I have no idea about blocked fallopian tubes but hopefully they can help with that and we are having IVF with ICSI as my husband has sperm issues and we had it with our first IVF. They should be able to tell you if you need that

Kelbell86 · 03/09/2020 08:30

Hey guys, I'm wondering if I can ask you a bit of a tmi question.
As you know my cycle was abandoned and I got my withdrawal bleed 10 days after (10th-15th Aug). I started spotting 2 days ago and yesterday had a bit of a heavier bleed (albeit much lighter than my usual). I normally only get 1 day where I'm heavy in any case. Today should be CD2 but I'm worrying that the period was too light?

Have any of you had a ivf cycle off the back of a lighter than normal period and everything went okay? I desperately want to avoid another abandoned cycle and I guess I'm just panicking as I'm due to start stims again tonight xx

misty20 · 03/09/2020 09:06

Hey @Kelbell86. how is the flow today? I'm usually very heavy for 2 days then very light for next few day.
to me sounds like your period has started and I dont think it should matters how heavy or light it is. Hopefully its ok for you to start, could you ask ABC for advice?
My last ivf cycle was 2016 so I cant remember what my period was like which is no help.

Kelbell86 · 03/09/2020 09:21

@misty20 it's practically stopped today 😕 I still have all the symptoms of it t hoi, bloated etc. I will call them it's just difficult sometimes to get an answer isn't it. I'm hoping it's just lighter because of the withdrawal only being 2 weeks ago xx

misty20 · 03/09/2020 09:31

ahh @Kelbell86 :( I called around 9am couple days ago and got through quite quickly so maybe the earlier the better to get through, hope you can start today x

AGGA1 · 03/09/2020 10:20

@misty20 thank you for tur reply ! I wish you all the best ! God bless you

Kelbell86 · 03/09/2020 18:57

@misty20 we are almost cycle buddies now 🎉 I was given the go ahead so first stim tonight for our second attempt 😊 xx

misty20 · 03/09/2020 19:10

@Kelbell86 ahhh yay! So happy you can start and only a few days apart. 😊 Which Abc are you at again? X

Kelbell86 · 03/09/2020 19:21

I'm at Manchester as it's the nearest one for us 😊 how are you getting on with stims? You finding them okay? xx

Lindors · 04/09/2020 22:37

Hi all guys perspective over hear, me and my wife are currently going through ivf at abc in harley street. I have read through the whole thread, it’s what you do when you are worried sick at nights and trying to get pregnant. We are currently on our first cycle of fet. We had to freeze for two reasons due to covid and also my wife produced 15 eggs and so we were told This was the cut off so had no choice but to freeze all. We manage to 4 embryos frozen and had a transfer of one last Thursday same day as hopeful so you and my wife are ivf buddies without knowing it. We are currently booked in on Monday for her blood tests. She has been saying she hasn’t experienced any real symptoms during our 2ww, but we decided on doing a early home pregnancy test and we got 2 strong lines, so just hoping all is well and we get bfp news on Monday too. I wanted to Find out how the others have got on so far blessing786 and hopeful?

Also if anyone has any questions regarding abc Harley clinic or our current situation that will help them out, post and I will answer your questions best as possible. Many thanks Smile

Hopeful1990 · 05/09/2020 09:28

@Lindors hello ivf buddy! How are you?

I am getting very nervous for test day now, although I'm a bit irritated cos I seem to be going to the only abc clinic who have stopped offering a pregnancy blood test! I have to just do it at home with a home pregnancy test! I hope that it's accurate enough.

We had a similar experience as you. I had 14 eggs, and we got 6 blastocysts. We had to do a freeze all cycle as I was hospitalised for 4 days after developing hyperstimulation syndrome (which was no fun at all!).

I've had a lot of potential symptoms. I'm very bloated all the time, my boobs are very sore, I've been needing to wee a lot, and I've had cramping every day since transfer. It's so hard not to read too much into every physical symptom. I'm so nervous for Monday morning! The only thing stopping me testing over the weekend is that my husband starts work today and tomorrow very early and I don't want to test without him here. I've been counting down the days like a kid at xmas haha. This is our first cycle as well and it's been exhausting. I just hope it's been worth it.

Lindors · 05/09/2020 10:12

@Hopeful1990

Hey we are good thanks, same as you anxious for Monday now but doing the rest earlier and getting such a good response has relaxed us a little.

What clinic are you with ? As Harley street has a separate bloods department down the road from them where they carry this out.

Symptom wise Funnily enough i (the husband) have been feeling things more then the wife 🤣, bloatingness, vivid dreams, lack of sleep and back aches, my wife seems to think I am putting it on hahaha. Anyways here hoping for good news for both of us on Monday and the others going through the process.

Hopeful1990 · 05/09/2020 10:19

@Lindors ahhh I wonder if that's why then. Our clinic is in Bristol and it's quite small so perhaps they aren't doing any tests that aren't completely vital due to the space issue and social distancing with other patients in the waiting area.

Haha! I'm not sure my husband has had any bloating haha but he's definitely had broken sleep, he's getting very nervous. Our best friends had a baby a few days ago as well which I know he has found particularly difficult with all this going on at the same time.

misty20 · 05/09/2020 12:14

@Kelbell86
Yeh all good with them 😊 only hurt tiny bit.
Had a few headaches but I remember having them last time too so trying to make sure I drink more water.
How you getting on?
I had my first scan yesterday, they were running so late 😩 I was meant to be seen at 12 and didn't go in till 1. 20.
Hoping it's not like that again Monday.
Im to start Cetrotide on Monday morning too.

misty20 · 05/09/2020 12:20

@Lindors
Amazing izing news with the postive test! Great start but Good luck for Monday too. I've had ivf before and had no symptoms in the 2 week wait.

We are at Harely street too. Found them a bit slow sometimes and disorganised but happy with my progress so far 🤞
If you don't mind me asking, how long after starting first injections did your wife have her collection?
Also what do you mean max eggs is 15?

Lindors · 05/09/2020 12:28

@misty20

My wife’s says 12 days after her first injections,
And regarding Harley street they probably are a little disorganised more so with the covid situation, but I think we will all be happy if the results are positive towards the end of our journey.

I personally feel they are trying their best but they have strict guidelines to what they have to adhere too where as others ivf clinics are more lenient in letting small things slide.

regarding the egg extractions they said if they retrieved 15 eggs that was the limit for ohss. So if they retrieved 15 then they had no choice but to freeze it as they didn’t want my wife to get ohss.

Hopeful1990 · 06/09/2020 09:50

@Lindors how are you and your wife feeling about tomorrow? I am so nervous about testing, I'm not convinced I'll get much sleep tonight!!

misty20 · 06/09/2020 10:30

@Lindors
Ok thank you that's good to know. So. Hopefully mine will be this Friday eek!

Yes hopefully all worth in the end. Just got frustrated with a few things that too longer then needed.

Ahh see if they haven't told us that. Wonder if they tell you at egg collection? I only got 9 eggs last time so hopefully be OK as really set on doing a transfer this month 🤞

Good luck for tomorrow 🙏 to you and your wife and also to you @Hopeful1990
