ABC Infertility

Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

Thanks @kay2705 I think I’m just freaking out... want this so bad. I’m going to ring in the morning and have another chat with them. The 2WW must be intense I can imagine. I’m due on again 14/02 so could possibly even start then 😆 are you gonna test early or wait for clinics test?

Kay2705 · 30/01/2019 22:01

I was just in your shoes and tbh I still am I want this really bad!! But I got my head around the facts and prepared myself. You should take it easy and have a chat with them. When the woman has no issues IVF is normally a lot more successful So atleast you got that on your side. Have you had an initial consultant and they said all ok? If so deffo look at going ahead

My test date isn't till the 8th so that's still quite a while away. I think I'm going to test early so I can process my emotions In case things don't go well so I'm not hit with a shock.

PBR123 · 30/01/2019 22:16

Yep had initial consultation and scan and I had all the other tests from another clinic near my work so only had to have the rubella one done. They just mentioned today on the phone hubbys sperm will decrease my chance so was panicking to just try varicocle first to see does that improve his count etc but I’ll be waiting months after to see, so think yes will give this a go can’t hurt too much if I walk in aware it may not take. I think it’s the difference of lab work that worry’s me maybe... we’ll im just a ball of stress anyways at the best of times and hubby is cool as you like !! I would test early too I think just to know aswell. It will be the 8th before you know it though. I do hope the best for you though :)

Just remember it only takes one. So if you are young or got a good reserve hopefully fertilisation rate should be quite decent. How long have you been trying? We tried for 9 months before being tested and then got pg naturally but that didn't work out. I'm 27

@Kay2705

Hi there I have just started my first cycle with abc male factor only - can I ask how many eggs they managed to collect and did u have any embryos left over to freeze .. also how did you find the Cetrotide injections

PBR123 · 31/01/2019 10:03

We have been trying over two years but kind of buried our heads in the sand and I’m actually 35 and husband is 38 so decided we needed to be realistic and have checks done. Sorry to hear it didn’t work out before fingers crossed for you next week. I have amh 12 and fit all their criteria so hopefully will be ok

Windmill1828 · 31/01/2019 14:21

I used ABC - they were amazing! I'm due in 2 weeks 💕

Ttcat30 · 31/01/2019 14:46

@windmill1828 was it your first attempt with them ? Congratulations! Did they collect many eggs and did u have any embryos left over to freeze

Windmill1828 · 31/01/2019 15:13

@Ttcat30 it honestly feels like forever ago 😂
Not a huge amount of eggs due to them being cautious with over stimming me and also the cost element I think.
We only got 6 at retrieval 1 didn't fertilise, 2 didn't quite make it, 1 was over cooked and so we only ended up with one day 5 blasto but that's all we needed!
I did think it was a lost cause and I was gutted that we didn't have anything to freeze however, my little jelly bean will be with us any day now!
The staff were AMAZING!
Alison in particular.
I love the ethos of the centre and it was definitely worth all the trips to London (3 hours in the car - sometimes 3 times a week!)
I can't rate them highly enough!
I'm definitely team ABC!

PBR123 · 31/01/2019 15:59

Wow congratulations on your imminent new arrival. Do you mind me asking what was the initial issue with you getting pregnant?

Windmill1828 · 31/01/2019 16:33

@PBR123
Yeah sure. I'm 36 pcos but got pregnant naturally last March but ended in a live ectopic at 8 weeks. And I have tubal adhesion from burst appendix when I was 16 and then from ectopic
On other tube!
All tubal really.

PBR123 · 31/01/2019 18:06

Thanks Windmill all the positive stories really help. X good luck with the little one

Kay2705 · 31/01/2019 18:15

Hi @Ttcat30 I got 13 eggs 12 were mature and 7 fertilised. 6 made it to blastocyst but only 4 good enough to freeze. Put back one of them

Kay2705 · 31/01/2019 18:17

Congrats @Windmill1828 this gives me hope!

Kay2705 · 31/01/2019 18:19

Oh @Ttcat30 the cetrotide were tricky I ruined the first one so had to get an extra pack but after first day got the hang of it

Ouryear19 · 01/02/2019 17:54

PBR123 · 05/02/2019 06:58

Morning all. So how is everyone getting on? I’m just on route now to have the treatment consultation... so hopefully this goes well

Ouryear19 · 05/02/2019 11:56

Best of luck @PBR123!
I'm just wondering what lifestyle changes people have made? I've been cutting down on caffine and no alcohol, generally trying to eat healthy. Any other tips? Thanks everyone

PBR123 · 05/02/2019 19:46

Same as you really not doing great with the coffee though !! I’m addicted and always rushing about so keeps me going. Started taking pregnancare before conception so that might give a bit of a boost....

JR17 · 09/02/2019 21:22

Hi, just wanted to see see how you were getting on just started following your posts as I’m thinking of trying abc ivf, it is all very overwhelming

Kay2705 · 11/02/2019 20:14

Unfortunately my cycle ended with a bfn which is really sad but this could be due to my fibroids. I'm going to try and get it removed and then try again. All of this could take up to 7 months :( good luck everyone

PBR123 · 12/02/2019 06:43

Awwww Kay2705 so sorry to hear this... hope you are doing ok x x god this sucks

JR17 · 13/02/2019 23:14

Sorry to hear this Kay2705

Ouryear19 · 28/02/2019 09:08

I've started my treatment with Abc clinic. I'm having egg collection tomorrow in their sister clinic CREATE. I had three scans, and three blood tests to check my hormone levels while injecting stimms medication. I did not have any blood tests on the NHS.
I will let you know how it goes
