Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

Do the medications stop your period I know you take it on the first day but I wasn't sure if it stopped them or not ? xx

Circa1987 · 09/06/2019 21:47

@sarahloub1

The medication manages your cycle so that your body gets follicles ready before ovulation occurs, and that there is an egg that they can put back in and that it results in a viable pregnancy. From the time you start the medication you hopefully don’t have a period for 9 months because IVF works.

@TryingForMyRainbow I had my 7 week scan last week with Abc, we got to see and hear a heartbeat! It's amazing how much it grows just in 7 weeks! It was an internal scan again.
The nurse also checked my ovaries, one is still enlarged from the stimms med.
I've my first appt with my own GP practice on Wednesday. I'm really going to miss the nurses at Abc!
When I got my positive pregnancy test I had cramping for about a week after, really felt like I had my periods.

Recently I have been feeling quite nauseous, especially while I'm at work, but I've not vomitting. Eating something actually helps. I've been feeling quite tired as well.

Sarahloub1 · 11/06/2019 10:12

I'm gutted I have just found out that there's a long wait for smear test results there only just on the 1st week of April results I had mine 1st week of may so now I'm guessing we will have to start the whole process and tests again I'm truly gutted and thinking about just giving up we are both not getting any younger 😥😥😥😥😥xx

Ouryear19 · 11/06/2019 13:17

@Sarahloub1
Don't give up hope! I felt like that 6 months ago with all the delays.

Can you get your smear test done privately?

Ouryear19 · 11/06/2019 13:18

Ps: I'm 38yrs

Sarahloub1 · 11/06/2019 17:02

So after crying all day I have managed to get in private they can guarantee my results in 2-3 days so I have spoken with abc they said I can still have my medication consultation on Tuesday they will just wait till my results come through before they post my medication
So £175 and buckets of tears later hopefully I'm back on track xx

Sarahloub1 · 20/06/2019 16:34

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on starting the injections mine have just arrived and I am due to start them next week xx

jojobean84 · 20/06/2019 18:34

@Ouryear19 haven't been on here for a while!

Massive congratulations! Well done!

Hope all is well with you.
Enjoy your pregnancy... Due in Feb?

TryingForMyRainbow · 21/06/2019 18:27

@Circa1987
I actually fell pregnant naturally while I was about to start my frozen transfer. That period never came and I got a positive pregnancy test! Sadly I lost it a week later. This is the third time it happens in a space of 2 years. ABC informed me during my scan they saw what they believed was a polyp on my uterine wall, I believe that is the cause for my losses and will be having it investigated/ removed then will go ahead and hope and pray the FET works and sticks! Since we have already paid for it.

Circa1987 · 21/06/2019 18:40

@tryingformyrainbow

Sending lots of love to you. Hopefully once the polyp is removed then everything will happen just like it should. I was watching a video on YouTube yesterday and lady was about to have an egg transfer and minutes beforehand they saw the polyp and cancelled the procedure. They obviously want to give you the best possible chances and something like a polyp affects things so much. I’m due on tomorrow and I hope for once in my life that I actually get my period on time so I can start my injections. Slightly ironic for 7 years we’ve been praying for no period each cycle, and now I’m desperate for it to come. Be kind to yourself and I’m sure everything will happen for you xx

Hi just wondering how everyone is getting on xx

Courts1609 · 01/07/2019 10:30

Hello ladies,

I have read this thread with interest last night, congratulations to those who have had success and wishing you all the very best to everyone still on their journey.

I hope you don't mind me joining the conversation. I have one daughter aged 4 and had a miscarriage 3 years ago in November and haven't been pregnant since. I have PCOS, been on Clomid for 4 months but have booked an appointment with ABC IVF for consultation on 11th July. That date will be probably day 2 or 3 of my new cycle. My question is whether anyone was taking clomid at the time of their appointment and were they able to start the treatment the following month? I can always not take the clomid as I will only be on the 1st or 2nd tablet of the month but I don't want to end up having a long cycle and not be able to start at the beginning of my next but I also don't want to take it and be told I'm not meant to have and have to wait two months.

Any experience at all?
I've found this thread really helpful so thank you all.

@courts1609

Hi there!

I don’t have any experience that I can offer you advice but I have found that throughout my whole process so far with ABC that if you phone the Harley Street practise with any questions either Konstantina or Bex will be able to help, or get one of the nurses to call you back with any answers that you need.

They are really helpful and extremely informative so I would go to them to get up to date, 100% correct information :) good luck on your journey with ABC. I can’t speak highly enough of them. Thanks xx

Courts1609 · 01/07/2019 10:51

Thanks Circa1987. I am using the new Bristol clinic but thanks for letting me know I can call the clinic directly. I had previously telephoned the call centre who were very helpful but wasn't sure they'd know the answer to the question. Will give it a go. Thank you.

Good luck with your journey x

Sarahloub1 · 05/07/2019 21:56

Hi guys so I'm a bit confused sorry for the too much info my cycle is just starting about 20 minutes ago (not properly yet tho) does this mean I would start my bemfola tomorrow night or Sunday night

Xx

Courts1609 · 07/07/2019 17:23

I just thought i would update the thread incase someone also wanted to know the answer to the clomid question, whether it can be taken the cycle before starting IVF with ABC. They got back to me to confirm that I can take the clomid when my cycle starts this month and then can starts treatment during my August cycle.

Once again, best of luck girls. I’m so looking forward to my appointment on Thursday x

Sarahloub1 · 13/07/2019 12:21

Xx

Courts1609 · 13/07/2019 13:05

Hello @Sarahloub1
How are you getting on? What stage are you at now? How have you found the injections

I’m right at the start of the journey having had initial consultation on Thursday. Have my treatment con on 22nd then will start on my next cycle, all things being well. Excited to finally get going x

Sarahloub1 · 13/07/2019 13:16

@courts1609

Hi thanks for replying,
aww brilliant hope it goes well for you fingers crossed, I'm doing really well on my 6th day of injections had my first scan yesterday she was really impressed everything going really well just started my cetrotide this morning I found that one hurts not hurts as such just more uncomfortable then the bemfola and bloods and another scan on Monday and Wednesday next week then last one Friday so she's hoping for egg collection a week on Monday so fingers crossed xx

Sarahloub1 · 13/07/2019 13:18

@courts1609

It seems to take ages for that cycle to start it feels like the longest ever

Courts1609 · 13/07/2019 13:21

How exciting! Is the second injection the one that matures the eggs or the one that stops the release? Really glad the scan went well, it’s an incredible process. Have you had any side effects from the medication?

Wishing you all the very best with it x

Sarahloub1 · 18/07/2019 12:09

Sarahloub1 · 18/07/2019 12:13
