First cycle of ivf, they transferred x2 embryos yesterday so the countdown begins....

DH is trying to be helpful but driving me slightly insane fussing, I'm feeling ok and trying not to panic about every slight twinge

Testing on the 16th, anyone else around the same time?

So sorry sooper and London, never the news you want to get. What do your teams say got the next step? Mine said 14dpt if doing poas rather than 12dpt for betaHCG

willma86 · 16/11/2017 15:36

That's rubbish for you both. I'm so sorry.

Can I ask if the only way of finding out is by testing? I'm unclear whether progesterone pessaries prevent af from coming, or what actually goes on? I've still got another 6 days until test date and I've 100% convinced myself I'm out...

LondonGirl80 · 16/11/2017 15:51

Hi remember - not super sure I understand what you’re asking? Sorry if I’m just being thick!

Wilma - I feel like I don’t know either to be honest. All this time I thought period not coming was a good thing, then it turns out progesterone keeps it away ... gah.

willma86 · 16/11/2017 16:16

Hmm...I'm finding it confusing, which it probably isn't at all.

LondonGirl - what did your clinic say when you called them? Do you have to still keep taking progesterone if you get BFN on OTD?

Rememberallball · 16/11/2017 16:58

Sorry London, that question would probably make more sense of my phone hadn’t autocorrected ‘for’ into ‘got’!! What I was asking was whether your clinic have said what you should do now, just wait for AF?

LondonGirl80 · 16/11/2017 17:13

Ah! Thanks remember, now I understand.

Nurse said stop taking pessaries today, and were going to book me a doc appointment for mid Dec. I argued back as they shut down at a certain point in Dec (appt would have been the wrong side of cut-off) and we’re away for three weeks in Jan, so would have meant waiting til Feb (an age away!) for next steps. So now we have a phone consult at 10am tomorrow.

AF still not here. Will use up final generic test tomorrow on one final check. Feel clueless about this too wilma

Totally clueless about what a FET cycle is like / how long it lasts (we’ve done IUI and IVF but not this). So will ask lots of qs of the doc tomorrow, and if possible get straight back into it.

And our useless CCG has finally sent me the NHS criteria for our area. We meet them, now, thank goodness. I’ve got a GP appointment to get referred locally to an NHS clinic, so will do that route in tandem.

Ging78 · 16/11/2017 17:14

When my fresh cycle failed I was told to stop using the pessaries. My af turned up a couple of days later or so. My understanding is the progesterone stop af appearing but I've seen people say it's arrived anyway. Maybe it's not an exact science?

Willma please don't get disheartened now. You have no idea what will happen in the next 6 days. It's so hard though I know. I have 3 days to Sunday and my otd.

Purplelynny17 · 16/11/2017 17:29

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on so late, and sorry for those who have had bfns.
I just wanted to say, I’ve read much of this thread and it has given me goosebumps. I went through 4 rounds of ivf over the past few years and had more than my share of heartache, but I’m sat here now with my extremely beautiful miracle ivf (icsi) 3 month old daughter.
I guess I just wanted to send a message of hope that it really can happen.
Best wishes to you all and I sincerely hope for happy endings for your stories. Xxx

LondonGirl80 · 16/11/2017 18:23

Should have said: ginge and wilma, keeping slogging on through. TWW is horrible, & you’re doing brilliantly x

purple - it helps. Thank you. And congratulations.

Star198 · 16/11/2017 19:02

So sorry sooper and londongirl.
Glad there are options available sooper and i hope there is for you too londongirl
Sending hugs to you both 💜💜 xx

Rememberallball · 16/11/2017 20:00

Thank you for your good wishes, Purple x

Star198 · 16/11/2017 20:23

How are you getting on remember? Any symptoms ? X

Rememberallball · 16/11/2017 20:35

Sore/sensitive boobs and majorly tired (though that could just be post holiday back to work tiredness) it was really painful doing my clexane this evening although it was in an area of my belly I’ve not injected before - but is near to my first site which, almost 2 weeks later, is still really bruised!!

I’ve also been having loads of cm for the last couple of days but that’s probably the progesterone gel

Star198 · 16/11/2017 20:46

Its so hard looking for symptoms and trying to work out if theyre early signs or not.
Ouch sounds sore! I really messed up one of my injections and that left a painful bruise for a while. Not nice :(
I said all this about it being the progesterone but it turned out that it was an early sign. Fingers crossed!!!

sooperdooper · 17/11/2017 14:32

I spoke to the hospital today, the consultant is going to review all our notes and then we'll start another round in January

We only get one more round, have no frozen embryos as both were implanted in this failed cycle - so just need to try & stay positive and hope the next try is successful

New year new start sooper. Hope you manage to get a bit of a break between now and January. It really takes it out of you doesn’t it.

Ginge - hope you’re feeling ok about OTD on Sunday.

My boobs have gone from being fairly sensitive to absolutely nothing at all which i’m feeling really unhopeful about. Wednesday feels like 55yrs away...

Minster2012 · 17/11/2017 18:24

Hi, I’ve been lurking just reading, as I’m on another IVF thread from the beginning of my weird journey (Sep/Oct thread). Due to cancer I can’t carry as I’m on ongoing immunotherapy treatment & my darling best friend is my surrogate for me. Like you @willma86 we are testing on weds which is actually not only full 2ww but a day later so we can all be together. There’s also someone else on our thread testing on Thursday & it’s horrible, I don’t feel any symptoms, it’s her, & she says she doesn’t feel any symptoms other than initial cramping & a twinge a couple of days later.

It was a 4 day compacting FET as we only have 2 embryos & I’m unlikely to be able to get another break in treatment to try to get more embryos. I’m 33 now was 32 when IVF as was DH who will be 34 day after testing! Test day is our 5 year “getting together anniversary” too so hoping it’s a celebration!

I’m there with you willma! 😁

Minster2012 · 17/11/2017 18:35

And massive congrats to all the BFPs!! 😍😘😁

Star198 · 17/11/2017 21:07

Sooper. Im glad you get another go in Jan and this time your body will be used to thr process and second lucks a charm for so many people in ivf. I hope you have a relaxing time off over christmas.

Willma dont be disheartened as mine went the same and now the achy boobs are making a come back! How many days in are you for your 2ww now, you may see something on a frer?

Hi Minster :) welcome and what an amazing best friend you have thats so special!!! Keeping everything crossed for positive news for you 💜💕

willma86 · 17/11/2017 23:58

Gosh minster what a journey you’ve been through. How incredible for your friend to be surrogate for you.
Keeping everything crossed for good news for us both on Wednesday.

willma86 · 18/11/2017 07:47

Hi Star - thanks so much for the support. I’m now 7dp5dt but too nervous to test!! I think I will wait until Wednesday ... what’s three more days when we’ve been waiting over three years Hmm

Minster2012 · 18/11/2017 07:56

Precisely willma, that’s our view, 2weeks is nothing compared to how long we’ve wanted a baby, stick it out! 4 more days...keep busy, I’m planning a really exciting day of training new puppy who arrived the week we were meant to have our transfer but it was postponed, cleaning out the fridge, organising linen cupboard & parading puppy around local town! 😁😁 (DH out) what do you have to keep you busy?

Star198 · 18/11/2017 08:51

Im rooting for you guys willma and minster. We too waited for well over 2 years so im right with you there 💜
Whats a couple of days like you say and it will show up almost instantly i hope for you both xx

willma86 · 18/11/2017 09:01

Thanks so much star.

Minster a puppy is a great distraction! We bought a puppy two years ago after our first year of ttc and it was the best decision ever. Dogs are a guaranteed pick-me-up. I have also tidied the house about ten times this week, made the Christmas cake, just anything to keep busy!!

Ging78 · 18/11/2017 11:51

Hi everyone

Hope you're all good today.

London girl hope you're feeling OK.

Sooper it must be good to have a plan to move forward.

Thanks for your words purple I love to hear success stories especially at the sadder moments.

Willma hope the 2ww isn't driving you too crazy. I'm struggling!!!

Minister what an amazing friend. Fingers crossed for you both.

Star thanks so much for your encouraging words. They really help. Talked to my oh about it and how it might take a bit longer as it tends to sometimes.

So testing tomorrow on my otd and I'm petrified. Am preparing mentally for bad news. It's easier to deal with it that way.

Am planning to go again with 2 in January of we get bad news.
