Aliona19 · 12/11/2017 16:22

Hm.. imaginary girlfriends, Star?! 😋😋 where is everyone?!? 😅 I am glad someone is enjoying time out. I just can’t leave sofa. Dog is not happy, sending me subliminal messages abt walkies

Rose good to hear you stayed away from painting process. Same here, he wants to tell his dad and I am against it as my family doesn’t know

Minster all this delivery business is getting on my nerves. I had to take day off to get my pills. And they refuse to send it to my work address. There should be a better way of doing it. Glad it sorted. As for vasectomy, I guess they can remove swimmers surgical way or undo vasectomy 🙃

RoseWrites · 12/11/2017 16:51

Star - nice afternoon tea! Enjoy :)

Minster he had a vasectomy when he was with his ex-wife (i'm sure there is a mumsnet acronym for ex-wife?!) anyway, he had one done a while ago, and then when we got together he said he wanted to get it reversed so we could have children. He said this on about date 3! :)

He had a reversal about 6 months after we got together at a clinic which (apparently) had a 97% success rate, so we just assumed it would work. It was an absolute shock to be told that it hadn't worked. We then had it done again (goodbye another £3.5K!), with lots of reassurance from the surgeon that this time it would work. Lo and behold, it didn't work the second time either.

However, a tiny amount of sperm gets through. Not anywhere near enough to get me pregnant, but enough that they can do ICSI.

I think if none got through, or if we hadn't bothered getting the reversals done, then they would have used a massive needle to get it out "at the source". Thankfully they don't need to do that, and we have enough sperm frozen that when it stops coming through (which apparently it will do at any day), we can use frozen stuff.

Sorry - very long answer to your question minster! :)

Minster2012 · 12/11/2017 17:03

Aliona you’re so funny! I was thinking the same though! star looks fab!

rose no that’s exactly what I was wondering, god how annoying for you to have had it go wrong twice! Can you ask for a refund??? Genuinely asking that seriously!!

OP posts:
RoseWrites · 12/11/2017 17:45

Minster I'm with you on the refund front! If memory serves, we paid a tiny bit less the second time (we are taking a couple of hundred pounds). You'd think it would be a lot cheaper or free!

When it didn't work a second time, I was cross at the surgeon for getting our hopes up, and devastated at what the failure meant, that I never wanted to see him or the clinic again.

Although i did complain about the clinic immediately after the second op (before we knew the results) as my OH woke up as his scrotum was being stitched up as they messed up the sedative... not what you want to happen!🙈

All in all it was quite a shit time!

But we don't regret getting it done, we were just the unlucky 3% for whom reversals don't work...

Onwards and upwards 😃

Atikakck · 12/11/2017 18:16

WhatWot · 12/11/2017 18:55

Atikakck I know exactly how you feel, hope third time's a charm for both of us! I don't know if I can handle the emotional roller coaster again.

Aliona19 · 12/11/2017 19:01

So some girls here allowed 3 cycles.. I am allowed only one on nhs. Some people not allowed any on nhs.. what the hell. Who and and how they decide who is lucky enough to get a chance?? That is rubbish. I know life is unfair but come on!

Minster2012 · 12/11/2017 19:07

3 through NHS? Wow! I have no idea how many I’m allowed, never asked!

BT just hv dis stupid feeling it's shrink or didn't grow at all

Aliona19 · 13/11/2017 09:26

Atik I think u only allowed max 3 cycles on nhs. U saying 4. But when u do ivf and fresh transfer and then frozen-that classed as try one. So you probably allowed 3 as well.
Stop overthinking if it didn’t grow or shrank, you will know result very soon. I thought I was very pessimistic 😅 u stealing my crown. What time your appointment?

Minster2012 · 13/11/2017 12:58

atik I agree with Aliona, relax and it will fine, go with it, stressing won’t help, will make it worse!

Trust me, I’m DYING to ask my friend more, I know she’s being quite sickly on the meds, but trying to keep things down, she’s seeing it as a power on through, we just wish we knew if it was working so as to give us the boost. We could if we tested early but we won’t as her work schedule, and my DH’s mean we can’t all be together til next weds so that’s just the way it is. But I really want to know everything. But won’t I don’t know I can’t giggle so it’s for the best

So a dnt fink so ma lining grow cz was a fink 8.1mm....nw a need take 6 tablets a day... Nd they sed transfer shud b on De 22nd xxx

Aliona19 · 13/11/2017 13:49

Atik 22 of dec?! Just b4 xmas. That’s when magic happens 🙃 so let’s hope it will be your time 😘

Atikakck · 13/11/2017 14:11

aliona not December lol dis month Smile nd on De 16th a need start pessaries nd injections xx

Aliona19 · 13/11/2017 14:11

Also Atik
“3 full cycles of IVF/ICSI should be provided where the female partner is aged 39 and under. A full cycle of IVF/ICSI has been clearly defined as one in which 1 or 2 embryos are replaced into the womb as fresh embryos (where possible) with any remaining good-quality embryos frozen for use later. When these frozen embryos are used, this is still considered to be part of the same cycle.

Maybe different clinic count things differently but that what it says about nhs ivf

Aliona19 · 13/11/2017 14:13

Atik u confusing me 😂 u said transfer on 22 December. Now it’s 22 November?! In 1.5 week? But if transfer 22 November why pessaries only a month after? I am lost

Starlumiere · 13/11/2017 14:23

Atik this is great news! How re you feeling and yes will it be November or December?

Minster - did not mean to write you are so BRACE but rather you are so BRAVE lol lol lol. You are doing well sweetie Smile

I have now my calendar and my first scan will be Friday! It is all go go go!

Minster2012 · 13/11/2017 14:34

atik that’s great news! See, it’s going really well for you, now you can stop worrying, all systems go for 22nd Nov. Do you not take pessaries before transfer though? I agree with Aliona, it seems weird!

star I’m not brave at all, trudging through the days!! And you too have it all going on now!! That’s awesome all systems GO GO GO for the energiser bunny!! Yay!!

I think all clinics must be different, I mean, the whole 3 cycles thing, that’s so rare. A lot of ppl get 1. It’s postcode mainly. I may get another go at the EC & IVF fertilisation & freezing but as NHS does not support surrogacy we pay for all meds for my friend despite me having medical exemption so I don’t pay prescription charges myself, but even though it’s on my cycle, because the scripts are for her they have to be paid for, & as it’s a Surrogacy expense we pay for it. All a bit of a lottery really!

Aliona19 · 13/11/2017 14:39

Oh I figured it out “De 22” you meant “on THE 22” that’s why I took it for December 😅 sorted

Minster2012 · 13/11/2017 14:42

Oh I get it Atik, on the 16th of this month you need to take injections and pessaries!
