3rd or more time lucky - IVF cycle buddies October

Hi Just wondering of there are folks on here who are about to go through their 3rd + time of IVF who want a cycle buddy? I dont mean it badly towards anyone who is starting their IVF journey for the first time, (i was there just this time last year after all) but I feel a bit like I cant be as optomistic about it as I was, so dont want to drag any first timers down? Hope that makes sense!
Anyway, just to explain about me:
TTC #2 for over 2.5 years now
Unexplained Secondary Infertility (have 4 year old DS)
Age 40.5 Shock
AMH: 15.4
2 failed fresh and 1 falied FET (with single frozen 3BB embryo we got from 2nd fresh round)
about to start 3rd fresh round when my period starts in approx 7-10 days, so will probably be late october EC.
anyone else a bit jaded, but still vaguely hopeful want to join me?
xx

Hi all. Hope you are all ok? user how are yoi doing today? Flowers
I am now officially in the 2ww. We had 2 embryos transferred yesteday. Slight panic when the embryologist mixed up the transfer rooms - 2 of us in adjoining rooms and he initially got the other couples embryo details to us. So then we had about 5 people come to confirm our details. All while i was on the table, legs akimbo, speculum & catheter in place! Ah, the joys of IVF.
I know what you mean by hope being a swear word hobbes, fab. Scared to hope, yet its there hidden in our hearts, or we would put outselves though this again and again.

Fabuluce · 08/03/2018 13:24

You are officially PUPO Decaf, well done! Bloody scary about the mixup though - that will have put the frighteners up them, and you no doubt!! On the plus side being there with your legs akimbo for a while, along with all that chatter will have relaxed your bits a fair amount to let you have a pain free transfer I hope!

bjonesreborn · 08/03/2018 17:25

Congrats decaf everything crossed for you this time.
Hope everyone else is ok

Fabuluce · 08/03/2018 19:13

Fabuluce · 08/03/2018 19:43

Hobbes39 · 09/03/2018 13:50

Hi all - it was confirmed as a negative - not exactly a shock, but gutting nevertheless. Good news is they are happy for me to go again with our last frostie as soon as I start my period this time, so will be back here in a month probably! How's everyone else doing? X

Decafplease · 09/03/2018 14:50

Oh Hobbes! I an so sorry! You deserved better.
Its good you are looking ahead to the next transfer already & you wont have to wait too long. Stay strong. X

bjonesreborn · 09/03/2018 16:37

Oh hobbes am so so sorry. Look after yourself and hope next AF comes along very soon xx

Hobbes39 · 09/03/2018 21:10

Thanks @bjonesreborn & @Decafplease. It's shit, but the nurse I saw today was so nice - spent the time to let me have a good sob about it all and she made sure it was her that called me to confirm the result and she was so nice about it. Initially she told me that it would probably be May before we can transfer our last frostie, but then called me back and said if I want to do the modified again rather than fully medicated cycle then they can fit me in this month. Only problem is that I've just realised that as we are away at Easter it might clash with scan or transfer... but have to wait and see wen my period arrives having stopped the estrogen & progesterone now.
It's odd, I didn't feel confident about this one all the way through. I don't know why.
I am being a bit nuts here but I'm now starting to think about this last one as my baby... I think it's cos I have to believe in this one as it's my last chance saloon. Sorry, I'm waffling, trying to look forwards. X

Hobbes, I'm so sorry to hear your news.

Decaf, hope the 2WW isn't sending you potty.

I got AF today so starting to think about next cycle. Think we are going to try a natural FET. Has anyone done natural instead of medicated?

user1497036202 · 11/03/2018 10:16

So sorry @Hobbes39 - sending you big hugs x

Hobbes39 · 11/03/2018 10:35

Thanks guys - just to add insult to injury.... I came down with some sort of norovirus type bug last night and feel utterly shit today. Sad I can't even spend time with my precious DS on Mother's Day, as desperately hope ing I don't pass it to him. on top of that my period has started, but I can't go into a clinic with this bug or keep pills down, so looks like we will be delayed 😢.
Anyway, hope that you guys are coping ok with Mother's Day. I can't imagine how hard it must be for some of you. Thanks x

Oh hobbes talk about adding insult to injury. Hope the bug passes v quickly and you don’t get delayed. X

Decafplease · 11/03/2018 16:00

Sorry to hear you are ill hobbes, hope you get better soon!
Hope this difficult day was ok for the rest of you.
Been out showing London to a visiting friend, do was an unexpectedly nice day. Am trying as much as possible to avoid symptom spotting. But its hard...
wanda i have only had full on medicated FETs, dont think my clinic does any other kind.
Flowers to all of you, be extra kind to yourselves & your partners today. X

Fabuluce · 12/03/2018 08:11

Oh Hobbes that's all you need. I hope you're feeling better today? I totally understand the need to crack on, that's exactly what I did with this frostie. You just want to get on with it, not waste anymore precious time don't you. I feel like I've spent the whole 7 years of our marriage obsessing about fertility and I'm fed up to the back teeth of it all.

Wanda I did this frostie with a natural cycle but I think that's probably different to what you're asking. Other than that there hasn't been anything natural about my rounds!!

As for me? Well im now 11dp5dt and full of cold with a hacking cough. 😩 feeling rough as an old dog, bleurgh, terribly tired, off and on nauseous, occasionally itchy boobs, mostly all the time lower abdominal aching. Nothing that can't be attributed to drugs or cold really. Meh. Looking forward to Thursday when I can finally test and get it over and done with.

Decafplease · 12/03/2018 12:57

Hi all, the 2ww is as awful as I remember it being! Constant ache since last night on lower right side. Had this on both successful & unsuccessful cycles, so no hint there. Constant wandering thoughts of what if. Not sure how i will get to OTD which is 23rd! fab only 3 more days of this agony for you 🤞

Hobbes39 · 12/03/2018 13:46

Hi everyone - I'm feeling quite a bit better today - had had toast and kept it down - hurray! Have also spoken to clinic and will be delaying until next month... which I'm sad about but I probably for the best as its not a great way to start of a cycle and I'd feel awful spreading bug around the clinic and am prob still infectious!
@Fabuluce - if you did a natural cycle and are at 11dp5dt I have a very good feeling about this for you - your period would normally have come by now, no? Or are you on progesterone support at all?
@Decafplease - thinking of you, it never gets easier does it?
@1Wanda1 - I did a fully medicated FET the first time and my lining was much thinner than normal for me (8.3) so this time I did a 'modified natural' FET and lining was much better (13.something). Basically the first time, I got down regulated by a one of injection, then had a bleed then started estrogen, the progesterone 5 days before transfer. This time I didn't down regulate, so just started estrogen on day 2 of my cycle and then had scan on day 14 then stared progesterone as before. Fully natural would be without any estrogen or progesterone, my clinic weren't keen on that for me as my cycles have been a little bit too erratic since ttc, particularly since doing ivf, so they went with this compromise. I found it much quicker and easier, but obviously it didn't work this time Sad. I am going to do the same again this next time though as it clearly was better for my lining. If you have regular cycles your clinic may be more polite about doing a fully natural cycle than they were for me. X

Hi Hobbes39, glad you're feeling better. Good idea to postpone another month - give yourself a chance to get fully recovered before you go into your next cycle. I am also having a month's rest before going again, so we'll be cycle buddies again.

On my previous FET, the treatment I had was what you describe for "modified natural". No downreg, started on 6mg progynova, increased to 10mg, lining was 9.7mm by day 15. I think what they're suggesting this time is no progynova and just monitor natural development of lining with scans and do a transfer only if the lining gets thick enough. I'm not really sure why this is suggested, since thickness on the last cycle was fine, but I hope to have another call with the clinic soon and will ask.

Fabuluce · 12/03/2018 14:52

I'm a numpty - mine was more a modified natural just like you had then all the progesterone afterwards so even if it hadn't worked I don't think I will bleed until I stop taking it but we'll see. All the symptoms could be anything couldn't they.

Glad to see you're on the mend though and sounding pretty positive Hobbes. Get that toast down you!

Fabuluce · 14/03/2018 07:59

One day left for me and I'm bricking it. Full of cold and hacking cough, I just want to know!
