3rd or more time lucky - IVF cycle buddies October

Hobbes39 · 13/09/2017 16:15

Hi Just wondering of there are folks on here who are about to go through their 3rd + time of IVF who want a cycle buddy? I dont mean it badly towards anyone who is starting their IVF journey for the first time, (i was there just this time last year after all) but I feel a bit like I cant be as optomistic about it as I was, so dont want to drag any first timers down? Hope that makes sense!
Anyway, just to explain about me:
TTC #2 for over 2.5 years now
Unexplained Secondary Infertility (have 4 year old DS)
Age 40.5 Shock
AMH: 15.4
2 failed fresh and 1 falied FET (with single frozen 3BB embryo we got from 2nd fresh round)
about to start 3rd fresh round when my period starts in approx 7-10 days, so will probably be late october EC.
anyone else a bit jaded, but still vaguely hopeful want to join me?
xx

Lots going on - so glad stims are going well for you Hobbes and Lulahbelle, I hope you’re ok now you’re in the 2WW. Quite jealous as I would love to be in that position but hopefully in the new year...

Everyone else, hope you’re doing ok. Best of luck with the new job bjones. Don’t feel guilty. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

bjonesreborn · 28/10/2017 08:17

Great news hobbes and congratulations lulah, lots of positive thoughts for the 2ww for you.
Thanks wanda, you’re right, have think of me and not them
We have our initial consultation booked for 8th dec

Hobbes39 · 28/10/2017 10:48

Congrats lulah! Will have everything crossed for you 🤞🤞. Hope you have some distractions the next 9 days?!
Bjones - glad you have it booked in now x
AFM - I feel enormous. I’m so tired, bloated and uncomfortable and (sorry tmi) a bit constipated Confused... not feeling great. I am trying to cheer myself up by telling myself it’s all cos my bumper crop of follicles, but I just can’t let myself get too attached to that idea. I have to trigger at 1am (today’s time!) this eve, so I’m b pleased stranger things 2 is out - I shall be keeping myself awake watching that this eve! X

Thanks for the positive thoughts gee, wanda and bjones!

I know how frustrating the wait till you can start a new cycle must be wanda - hope you and your DP can maybe plan some nice things in the meantime to keep you distracted.

Great news that you have your initial consultation booked bjones - 8 Dec isn’t too far away now.

Hope you managed to stay awake for your trigger shot ok hobbes. Loads of luck for tomorrow - will have my fingers crossed that you get a bumper haul!

geeup · 29/10/2017 18:15

Good luck for tomorrow @Hobbes39 !!!

Decafplease · 30/10/2017 09:19

Good luck with your egg collection today hobbes!
lulah congrats on having your embie on board, hope its a sticky one! 🤞🤞🤞 to you both.

bjonesreborn · 30/10/2017 11:08

Good luck hobbes

Hobbes39 · 30/10/2017 16:47

Hi all - thanks for the good wishes - egg collection went well generally and I’m really chuffed with having got 9 eggs! They only managed to get 2 from the side with the endometrioma - as that ovary is stuck in an odd place supposedly (so I’m even more sure I’m no longer ‘unexplained’, I’m pretty sure endo plays a large part).
Downside is I’m still in hospital as have taken a long time to come round from the anaesthetic as my BP went mega low for a while - 74/49 -managed to basically faint while lying down! So I’m ok now, but DH had to go take the dog out and pick up DS, so now waiting for him to pick me up after an afternoon of observation. I ave also been told I need to watch out for OHSS as my E2 was over 5000 on Friday Shock! So fingers crossed it all settles down and I don’t get wobbly and faint again and more importantly that we get a decent fertilisation rate tomorrow 🤞🤞

Wow 9 is fantastic. Well done you. Hope you feel well soon and get home quick.

lulahbelle · 30/10/2017 17:17

Congrats hobbes - 9 is fantastic! Sorry to hear about the low BP and risk of OHSS - take care of yourself when you get home and try not to do too much. Am keeping my fingers crossed for excellent fertilisation results!

Hobbes39 · 30/10/2017 17:17

Thanks Gee - I’m pleased also that the senior consultant has humoured me and I have 2 x crinone gel a day to take this time rather than just 1... to put my mind at rest re the progesterone!

bjonesreborn · 30/10/2017 17:58

Brilliant I meant!!

geeup · 30/10/2017 21:13

Pleased to hear that about the gel @Hobbes39 - I'm all about doubling up for my next cycle!!

Hobbes39 · 30/10/2017 22:42

Hi Bjones - yes - best number yet - was 5 first time, 7 2nd time, and 9 this time so v pleased. Don’t want to get too excited about it though as fertilisation could bring me back down with a bump as could end up low, who knows...
Just woken up from a long sleep having finally got home at 6:30. Still feel utterly exhausted!
How’s everyone else? Hope you are doing ok Lulah and have been getting on ok with your embryo on board Smile x

Decafplease · 31/10/2017 08:52

Great numbers hobbes! Hope fertilisation is as good! 🤞

Hobbes39 · 31/10/2017 11:30

Morning - I can’t quite believe it, but 8 have fertilised! I’m over the moon with those numbers, but trying to keep myself calm as I know that it means nothing really so far, as so many can drop off by day 5. So I’m looking at ether a Thursday or Saturday transfer - praying for Saturday - they will let me know Thursday am how things are looking. X

bjonesreborn · 31/10/2017 11:42

hobbes that is such amazing news. Am so so pleased for you x

Hobbes39 · 31/10/2017 12:02

Thanks BJones x it’s got to be 3rd time lucky surely? 🤞 hope you are doing ok? X

OP posts:
lulahbelle · 31/10/2017 13:04

Congrats hobbes - that’s an amazing fertilisation rate! Fingers crossed for a Saturday transfer.

All fine with me - trying to decide whether I wait till my OTD (Sunday) or test a day early on Saturday. We’re staying with some friends on Saturday night which will make testing on the Sunday morning tricky so I’m tempted to test early l, but am then worried I’ll jinx the result. Which is ridiculous I know, but there’s something about the 2ww which makes my brain go crazy Confused

Hope everyone else is ok!

Decafplease · 31/10/2017 13:32

Fantastic news hobbes. Very happy for you!
And not far to go to test now lulah.
AFM, i finally have a date for my ERPC. Delayed deciding on surgery for a while as i was hoping to bleed naturally, but now just want to close this chapter and start again. Been a very tough week for me and dh, hopefully after the surgery we can move on from this. Had the pre-surgery appointment today, and booked in for Friday. Was shit sitting in the pregnancy unit, waiting with all the happy bumps around. But one day i hope to be back there for a happier reason.

Hobbes39 · 31/10/2017 13:42

Thanks decaf - and that’s good news you have the date for ERPC - even though having to have it done at all is obviously not ‘good news’ hugs to you x I remember well sitting in waiting room with excited people waiting for their scans of their little bumps, while I was going through my ectopic, it’s just crap that they have these things in the same places. Sorry you are having to go through this and hope it’s can all be over with ASAP Flowers.
Lulah I think I’d test Saturday morning - rather than wait til when you are at your friends. In fact I’d probably do Saturday morning and then double check on Monday rather than get the result while at friends house as Id want to be able to either squeal for joy / sob without having to worry about friends reaction... good luck! X

Thinking of you @Decafplease - glad the end of this chapter is in sight although appreciate how sad that is.
Great news @Hobbes39 - is that your best rates ever?!

1Wanda1 · 31/10/2017 15:56

Fantastic news Hobbes! Such great numbers. Hope you will end up with some to freeze as well as transfer.

Decaf, sorry this is so hard. I miscarried years ago and still remember the feeling waiting in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit looking at other, more fortunate women.

Once this chapter is closed, hopefully 2018 will bring better luck.

bjonesreborn · 31/10/2017 16:14

So sorry decaf but as others have said you can close this sad chapter.
lulah I think i’d go for sat morning too.
Afm forms all filled in ready to go and just waiting to book pelvic assessment scan and amh blood test.
