IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

Hi ladies! So I’m on the train going back to my holiday destination. Transfer went very well. We got there and they said that one is doing very very well, but the other one is abit slow and asked if we would want to go ahead anyway, wait an hour and see what happens or defrost another one... suddenly they had a knock on the window from laboratory to say- second one has woken up!!!!! Amazing! My pee on a stick test is 27th Feb 🐣 I’m now happy, relaxed, fed and watered
@BeHereNow31 how are you my lovely? How did it go? Tell us all!!!

BeHereNow31 · 16/02/2018 13:35

fox brilliant news. We have the same test date! Got one transferred. The other one isn’t looking great, but they will give it a few days to see if they can freeze it.
I was away with it on the gas and air!

Enjoy your weekend away. Xx

Janefx40 · 16/02/2018 19:20

Well done ladies!!! 27th Feb is a big day! Take care of yourselves...you both have little embies on board.

BeHereNow31 · 17/02/2018 07:42

Thank you! Trying so hard to forget about it! Any tips for the 2ww?! (9 days now really 😱😱)
Although I feel anxious deep down, I’m keeping myself calm.

Xx

Janefx40 · 17/02/2018 09:41

@BeHereNow31 I'm not sure I have any tips. I was a nightmare and have been every month we've been TTC. Next time I will be trying these things tho...

  1. trust the Drs at the clinic - I spent loads of time second guessing whether my progesterone levels were right - did this headache mean this or that. I'm going to try to trust them and leave it in their hands.

  2. keep working but maybe take some short days or work part time to have space to relax

  3. distract myself with films or a box set or something enjoyable

  4. see my niece and nephew because there's no time to think when they're around!

Good luck. I know it is hard xx

BeHereNow31 · 17/02/2018 11:56

Sounds like a good plan. All my effort is going into relaxing. Trying to not to get crazy about what I’m eating... eg: pineapple, Brazil nuts 🙄 the hormones are making me so hungry. I had this the last 2 times too. Xx

Fox23 · 17/02/2018 14:20

My dear ladies, I’m going crazy already and it’s only day 2 😳😳😳😳
Seriously, last time it didn’t feel as crazy, this time I have no idea what to do with myself!
I’m trying my best to relax, watch comedies and put all this out of my mind... it’s not working! Maybe I’m just having a bad day and tomorrow I will back to my usual self.

BeHereNow31 · 17/02/2018 15:35

fox completely understand how you feel. I have managed to watch comedies, read and get lots of cuddles of DH, which has helped. But now I’m feeling twinges down there. 🙄 it can’t even be anything but fills me with panic haha.

Going to try some relaxing, meditation music tonight meditation 🧘‍♀️ Xx

Janefx40 · 17/02/2018 19:44

Ah it is so hard! Be nice to yourselves...it's not easy to stay calm so if you need to have a freak out, just go with it I reckon!

One thing I would say, I think the progesterone made my heart race a bit at times and the racing heart made me feel a bit panicky and manic. So if that is happening to you too, maybe consider it could be the drugs.

Nothing you can do but keep yourself as amused as possible as the time passes.

Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 18/02/2018 10:37

I have noticed heart palpitations recently, @jane I used to get them a lot when I drank caffeine, so prob would be the drugs.

I am sooo hungry all the time. All I can think about is food lol. And prob not food that does me any good 🤦‍♀️

How are you both feeling? Do you feel any calmer @fox? What have you been doing with yourself? Xx

Fox23 · 18/02/2018 19:08

@Janefx40 it was sort of restlessness, when you just can’t sit still, but not heart palpitations. Now I have head ache and feeling exhausted. It’s only 2nd day after transfer and I feel like I’ve been hit with all poss symptoms- and as it’s only day 2, all of these symptoms mean absolutely nothing...
@BeHereNow31 how are u feeling? I’m also hungry all the time! It’s embarrasing that all I can think of is food! Just polished large burger meal...
of to sleep now hopefully that will stop me from eating more bad food 🤭😁💤

BeHereNow31 · 18/02/2018 19:21

I’m ok. Just think about food all day long and want to sleep! Felt a bit lonely (and grumpy) today. But that will just be the progesterone. (And prob the ivf having something to do with it!)
Have a lovely, relaxing night! Xx

Janefx40 · 18/02/2018 19:29

@BeHereNow31 why are you lonely? Where is DP?

Now that I'm getting back to normal I'm realising how much I was affected by the IVF/drugs - hungry all the time, bloated, tired etc. Still I'd do it all again tomorrow if they'd let me.

@Fox23 I honestly thing progesterone is to blame for most things including headaches - you can get headaches as it rises or as it falls or both!

Eat nice food! Treat yourselves as super important and special because you are

Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 18/02/2018 19:36

He is with me, and being very supportive trying to make me laugh and look after me. Suppose I just want to be talking about it with other girls who are going through it. But I have been a bit, and it’s prob not even good to talk about it too often. It’s honestly just the hormones though!! I get like this before my period too.
Have been enjoying food, but also have an avacado in the fridge I might try eat to balance things out 😂😂

Hope you’re ok? Xx

Janefx40 · 18/02/2018 19:57

Yes I'm fine. Staying with a friend tonight as I'm working near their home tomorrow. Nice to see them. Their 10 year old is having a sleepover tonight with 10 friends! It is chaos - making me feel slightly better about not being pregnant - there are upsides to not having children!!!

Still a bit bleeding - not sure if it is just a heavier period because of the progesterone or because of the chemical.

We're planning a trip to the States which is nice. Family party in Nashville followed by a relaxing stay in the Smokey Mountains.

So I'm tired and still a bit fed up but overall I'm ok.

BeHereNow31 · 18/02/2018 20:09

That’s really good that you have things to look forward to. It’s a good thing to have other things going on, apart from ivf! I was hoping to go away for a couple nights, but hasn’t happened. Will try and do other things though.

Hope the bleeding stops soon. Maybe your hormones trying to settle down.

That sounds like a busy night! They don’t stay tiny babies for long! Xx

Fox23 · 19/02/2018 06:38

Morning ladies 😁
@Janefx40 they say that after unsuccessful bleeding may vary from very light to very heavy and last different periods of time, hope yours will stop soon, as that will help to draw line under this attempt. Omg, 11 screaming children would make me want to reconsider 😂😂😂
Wow, I always wanted to go to Nashville and Smokey Mountains!!!! I’m super jealous (I’m a very positive way)!!!Jane, you so deserve that holiday! When are u going?
@BeHereNow31 I know what you mean about feeling lonely. It’s not my DHs fault either, it’s totally my own fault (hormones). One moment I think he is the best thing in the world and then I feel like everything he does annoys me.... strange feeling and I feel sorry for him. Your DH is the best if he can handle all those mood swings.
Agree with you -sleep, eat, throw a tantrum... repeat....
why don’t you both book a night away somewhere not too far, then you don’t really have to plan it.
Any good comedies you’ve seen recently? I’m planning to have laughter filled day 😁

BeHereNow31 · 19/02/2018 07:24

Good to hear I’m not alone, and crazy then 😂

I was going to ask if you had any recommendations for comedies?! I’ve been watching Brooklyn 99, and Derry girls. Mr bean is the only thing that really made me laugh 😂 have you seen catastrophe? First season is funny... it does get a bit depressing tho 😕

Can’t think of any films though! Quite like I Love You Man.

Today, I’m going to read a book, and take my puppy for a couple of walks. I am off work, which is nice.

Hope you have a relaxed day! Xx

BeHereNow31 · 19/02/2018 07:32

Oh, a warning about catastrophe... it is about a woman who gets pregnant from a one night stand... so, maybe not what you want to watch. But it’s funny 🤭 xx

Janefx40 · 19/02/2018 07:35

I just listened to Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine on audiobook. Not exactly funny (except occasionally) but lovely and moving - it really absorbed me and took my mind off stuff.

Oh and we've been watching Glow on Netflix although not everyone finds it that easy to get into

X

Fox23 · 19/02/2018 11:12

@BeHereNow31 why is it so hard to find good comedy!
Maybe worth trying some good old ones?
From old and new you’ve seen? What are your favourite comedies?
Mine- Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz, Will&Grace, Are We There Yet?, Spinal Tap, all Hangover movies, Bridesmaids and Identity Thief
I’m so struggling to find anything that makes me laugh... just watched Girl Trip... no, didn’t like it. Maybe it’s just my current mood
PS back to work tomorrow 😢

BeHereNow31 · 19/02/2018 11:21

Hopefully work distracts you!

Series I like... all on Netflix too.. Him & her, drifters, plebs, in betweeners

Films... bridesmaids, I love you man, the hangover.

I heard bad moms is funny, but don’t know where to find it.

Hope tomorrow goes ok. I’ve been so lazy. Just sitting and eating 🙂 xx

BeHereNow31 · 19/02/2018 16:49

Last embryo couldn’t be be frozen. Feeling sad, but trying really hard now to dwell on it xx

Janefx40 · 19/02/2018 17:31

Ah sorry to hear that @BeHereNow31 - it is not easy and of course it would feel better to have a frosty. But you have one perfect little one cosying up inside right now hopefully starting to grow! Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 19/02/2018 17:41

Thank you. Yeah, I took for granted that I would have something, even 1! But no control over that. I’ll be comfort eating the next while I think! Xx
