IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

Hi @Fox23 exciting to be starting your spray on 7th. Less than a week away!

I have done the monitoring cycle such as it was - just days 1,2,3 bloods and a mid cycle scan and test. Having told me I would almost definitely be on a long protocol starting around 4th Jan, they called after my most recent tests to say I would now be on short protocol. Not sure why. They are (famously) hard to communicate with at my clinic. Asked a nurse to call me back but no one did. Still, having spoken to a few people, I'm happy to just relax and go with it (DP finds this harder). So if period is on time, I will start short protocol on 12th Jan.

At the moment all is well and I'm looking forward to starting. Nervous - but trying not to dwell on my fears.

Exciting to here that others are pregnant and progressing well. Let's hope for more baby bumps in 2018!

Xxx

Fox23 · 02/01/2018 16:48

@Janefx40 - is this your first IVF attempt? Sorry to ask if you already have mentioned that before?

Janefx40 · 02/01/2018 18:16

Yes @Fox23 my first go. X

Fox23 · 02/01/2018 18:37

@Janefx40 - Wow! Good luck! I so mean it!
As you probably read through this thread, it was my first go as well, and I must say, it was.... fun? Hormonal, emotional and bumpy! I even got my needle phobic hubby do my injections. 😂
What’s your background if you don’t mind me asking?

Although my first go didn’t end that great, this is my first FET cycle.
If you need help or advice, we are here. One thing tho- once the ball starts rolling it’s so quick from start to finish with short cycle!
I will start my nasal spray on Sunday, so excited!!!!
I even signed up for weight watchers as I need to shift few pounds (in the healthiest way possible) before the big day is here again.

Fox23 · 02/01/2018 19:20

@BeHereNow31 i also got raspberry leaf tea and pomegranate juice! Such a good idea! I read up on it, and I’m on! 😊 thanks!

Janefx40 · 02/01/2018 21:49

Hi @Fox23 thank you for your good wishes. Good luck with weight watchers. It's a really good system.

My background? Well we haven't actually been trying that long but because of our ages (I am nearly 41, DP already 41) we decided that we would go for IVF in December. So we've actually only been trying for 10 cycles but we know that as time passes we have less chance of IVF working and that it takes time so we just picked a date to start.

I am due to get my period on 12th and they say I will start drugs the day after. No idea what to expect. Trying to stay calm and positive and take each stage as it comes but already failing massively by being stressed and teary.

Good luck with starting burselin. When will the FET happen or do you not know yet?

Exciting

X

Fox23 · 02/01/2018 23:09

@Janefx40 have you received your meds yet? Because after the scan you start injections more or less immediately to start building up lining. You will then have regular scans to monitor how it’s progressing and when they are happy you’ll have to do trigger shot/ around the time you ovulate. Then the next day you go in for egg collection. And 3 to 5 days later (very painful 3-5 days...) you go back for transfer but they’ll call you after collection to let you know how many they got and how many have fertilised overnight. And also when to come back for transfer. What’s left over they freeze. I went back on day 5 and it wasn’t painful at all. See, it’s resll quick once you start meds 😊
Me... probably will get frozen ones transferred by the end of this month/beginning of next... if all goes to plan. I have 4 frosties 😁 so fingers crossed I have 4 more chances before I have to go through egg collection again...

BeHereNow31 · 03/01/2018 08:54

fox 4 Frosties is great. I only had the one... going to try and eat more protein during stims. I’ve read it helps mature more eggs (not sure if I believe it, but I’ll be trying anyway!!). Did you try anything like this?

All the best for you and jane it’s all happening so soon for you both!

Janefx40 · 03/01/2018 17:55

Ah @Fox23 so exciting that you have 4 Frosties. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you. Thanks for all the info too. I will get meds from the clinic when I go in for my bloods and scans.

@BeHereNow31 good luck with the protein. Let us know how you get on with it!

Ging78 · 04/01/2018 18:20

Hello all of you lovely ladies

I've been reading but waiting until I got a chance to reply. Am struggling being back at work this week. Had afternoon naps going on last week and am struggling with my energy levels.

I also want to echo what you said fox and Scots I don't know how I would have got through this process without you. It was the hardest thing I've ever done and your support made it easier. You helped so much. My oh knows all about you. I talk about you frequently!!

Fox an so glad you're starting again. It sound longer than what I did but hopefully you'll get there very soon. Have my fingers firmly crossed!! Xz

No one was too concerned with the scans we had. I bled most evenings for maybe 2 weeks after. We have now had 5 scans as I was do worried. All looks great every time. Last night was amazing it's 4.36 cm and moving and rotating and we even saw a little hand!!! 10 weeks 5 days last night. Apparently we can just bleed particularly with ivf babies.

Be here you're starting again too. Exciting. Fingers crossed it goes well.

Scots excellent news. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. I'm also still in disbelief after all of this.

Jane good luck. Ask any questions you have I'm sure we can help.

Fingers crossed all of our dreams come through in 2018!!! Xx

BeHereNow31 · 04/01/2018 21:03

Such lovely news Ging. Must have been stressful with the bleeding, but so good to hear that things are going ok.

Make sure you rest when you can xx

Fox23 · 07/01/2018 14:04

Hello ladies,
@Ging78 such a good news about your scan. Yes, I also read that some bleeding with IVF pregnancies is normal. But it’s always scary. I’m so so happy for you!
@BeHereNow31 how is your journey going? Anything new?
@Janefx40 - what about you lovely? Any progress in your IVF?

I started nasal spray this morning. Somehow I was dreading it as was expecting that terrible taste in mouth you get when have cold, and using those flu sprays. But no- nothing. I even had to check it’s working! So, apparently in the next 6-7 days my period will start and then I reduce from 4 to 2 times a day and start taking tablets as well. Yeyyyyy, so excited that something is happening. I have to keep myself grounded as I know the chances on positive are low, but my first try gave me positive test, so didn’t know how negative would feel.... I just don’t even want to think about it..... I’m taking all possible supplements- vitamins, teas, foods... you name it, I’m doing it. Weight Watchers are good. I’m not attending meetings, just online, and it’s so easy and doable, and I’ve lost over 4lb already (2.2kg) so, just have to keep going, whilst maintaining healthy balance.
Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 07/01/2018 14:09

Good to hear that you’ve started Fox. I didn’t have the nasal spray... just one injection in my bum 😮 sounds like you’re motivated!

Less than two weeks until I start injections. I cant wait to be off the pill. It’s is making me sooo hormonal and tired. I don’t remember feeling hormonal on the injections!

Feel guilty whever I have a tiny bit of chocolate or cake. But, I am only having tiny bits!

Hope everyone is coping ok 💐

Janefx40 · 08/01/2018 17:24

Hi @Fox23 so glad the spray isn't horrid. You sound excited which is great. I think it's good to be positive tho I struggle with that a bit. Amazing that you have already lost 4lbs too. Quite jealous.

I'm just approaching my final period before I start. Period due Thursday or Friday and I start the day after.

All signs of AF approaching - cramps, spotting, headache all bang on time but obviously sill veering between hoping I'll be pregnant and acceptance that I'm not. I usually go a bit nuts at this time of the month but trying to reign it in.

@BeHereNow31 two weeks will fly by and you'll be starting again

@Ging78 great news that your scans look good.

Oh actually I do have one question. When I start injections do they have to be take at the same time every day? I know clinic will tell me but I'm trying to do forward planning!

BeHereNow31 · 08/01/2018 18:47

Hi Jane. Yes, you do the injections at the same time. I remember asking if I could do them at night, and they told me I had to do them in the morning. I was gutted because it meant waking up earlier in the mornings! 😂 x

Janefx40 · 10/01/2018 16:07

@BeHereNow31 boo to earlier mornings! I'll be up at 6am as it is.

Period is early (stress of impending IVF has messed up my cycle I think). So we're off! Tests tomorrow, drugs day after if all looks ok.

How are you getting on @Fox23 ?

Also do you all drink lots of milk? It says in my info sheet that I should. And if so, is semi-skimmed ok. Not sure I could stomach full fat!

Xxx

BeHereNow31 · 10/01/2018 19:37

Aw. Lovely news, that’s you started Jane.
I wasn’t told to drink any milk at all. But I have heard of others being told to. I am trying to eat my protein, and was going to start drinking milk too.
How much were you told to drink? I read that semi skimmed is fine, but organic is best.
X

Janefx40 · 10/01/2018 22:36

It said 1 litre a day! I'm going to be so fat :(

Fox23 · 11/01/2018 17:10

Evening ladies,
Been busy two weeks for me at work, and by time I get home, all I want to do is watch abit of tv and sleep.
Anyway, waiting for my AF now any day, and then will see what hospital is planning for me 😊
@Janefx40 I wasn’t told to drink milk. Not sure why, unless you have calcium deficiency but then you would have been advised to take supplements. Don’t really know....
How did tests go? Any updates? Are you taking meds already?
I did my injections at 8pm, that suited me fine! Got my needlphobic hubby do them for me. Can’t believe he agreed!!!

@BeHereNow31 how are you feeling, lovely?

@Ging78 are you feeling bit better? Have energy levels returned? 🤞🤞🤞

BeHereNow31 · 11/01/2018 18:37

I read that milk is supposed to help your eggs mature? I will try it, with more protein. But a litre sounds like too much to stomach! 😦
I’m just wanting to get started with the injections now, Fox! One week left. How are you? Hopefully no side effects from hormones, but I know tiredness is Defo one! 😴
Xx

Fox23 · 11/01/2018 19:12

@BeHereNow31 I also just can’t wait. Sounds as our schedule is about the same! That’s amazing! Doc doctors give any idea on when you are due for collection?
I actually don’t feel tired at all. I feel bit angry moody, but that may be my AF approaching... I usually turn into monster days before AF 😂😂😂 can’t believe 15years after I met my husband, he still hasn’t clocked my cycle and takes my mood swings personal. Oh well, I just keep reminding him.... every month lol

Janefx40 · 11/01/2018 22:07

Hi Gang. It's reassuring that you are so excited about getting started. I'm more on the terrified side at present.

Had bloods today and good to go so tomorrow morning am back for more bloods, scan and meds. Just watched the video about the injections that the clinic sent -errrrrr - am not at all sure about this. I was fine right up until the part where the woman has to still a needle into her stomach. Argh.

I helped my friend do IVF injections in a tent over the summer so the prep wasn't too much of a surprise. But I really don't want to stick a pin in myself :(

But on the plus side....we're starting...

BeHereNow31 · 14/01/2018 08:09

jane, the first injection is nerve wracking, but after that, it all just becomes routine.
At first, I used some numbing cream, if you think that will help? You can buy from chemist. I’m not going to use this time round. I found, if I went for a fattier bit of my tummy, I didn’t feel anything. If I hit muscle, that was soooo sore! 😢 so, find some fat, you’ll be fine! 😊 xx

Janefx40 · 14/01/2018 14:03

Thanks @BeHereNow31 Cream or an ice cube might be worth a try although it's not that bad.

Treatment day 3. Had hysteroscopy yesterday which was fine and bloods and scans daily! Struggling a bit with the injections - getting all the liquid out the vial but getting better.

Hope everyone else is well. What's going on with you guys? X

Fox23 · 16/01/2018 22:48

Evening ladies!
So, I’m still sniffing my buserelin, as my AF is nowhere in sight... only about 3 days late, but it could be just stress from this all. Fingers crossed any day now....
other than that, I’m all the same. My doc appointment is on Monday to give me all clear to carry on due my sad op in October.
@Janefx40 I can’t say how to de injections yourself... I got my needlephopic hubby do that. And yes, as BeHereNow said.... fat bit of tummy is the best. And yes, if you get it wrong it hurts. I just asked my hubby to stop and try another spot, and then I didn’t even feel it.
@BeHereNow31 how are you my lovely? Any progress with you?
