IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

Hi fox!
My period has always been late before starting my cycles. Usually a week... must be stress. I am still taking the pill, and start my injections on Friday.
Been a little down. I keep getting invited to baby showers, and so many people falling pregnant. I feel so exhausted by all of this. But that could also be the hormones.
Take care. Hope your period comes soon x

BeHereNow31 · 17/01/2018 09:22

Oh and lots of luck for your doc appointment. I’m sure it will all be fine, but that must be hard to go through xx

Janefx40 · 17/01/2018 10:41

@Fox23 sorry about the late period. Hope the Drs appt goes well and doesn't feel to sad. What is the next step for you once your period arrives ?

@BeHereNow31 sorry you're low. It can be really tough when other people are having babies around you. Don't go to Baby showers if you can't face it - send a gift and say you're ill. I'm sure they'll understand.

Xxx

Fox23 · 20/01/2018 15:44

Afternoon ladies,
How are we all feeling?
My period finally arrived, I’m over the moon- and that being subtle 😆
Today starting progynova tablets along with my reduced dose of buserelin spray.
Doctors on Monday, and I finally feel like tings are moving again... at snakes pace, but moving
My brother will become dad again in the next few weeks, and it’s so wonderful, but incredibly selfishly- heartbreaking... for me....
@BeHereNow31; @Janefx40 how are things with you? Anything new? How are you feeling? How are meds?
Lots of love xxx

BeHereNow31 · 20/01/2018 15:56

Hey fox!
Congrats on your niece/ nephew coming. I know those conflicting feelings. When you love them so much, but there’s times it’s hard sometimes too.

I have now started my injections! They have been fine to do, but made me emotional yesterday. Maybe a mix with the pill? I feel drained tbh. Just going to try and eat good food and look after myself ☺️ Hope that you are all managing to do that too xx

Janefx40 · 20/01/2018 16:49

Hi everyone,

@BeHereNow31 I know what you mean about injections. It's kind of ok but if I let myself thing about it, I would crack up. It's a lot to take.

I'm on a short protocol and seem to be super speedy. I did 8 days of stims then triggered yesterday. EC tomorrow morning and just have to hope there are some eggs in there. Obviously I have a lot of worries - will the follicles be empty, will there be any mature eggs, will I be in pain afterwards, will DH be able to produce!!! Endless. But trying to stay calm.

@Fox23 congrats on the nephew/niece but totally understand the mixed feelings. It is a tricky one. Hopefully you'll get your turn! X

Fox23 · 20/01/2018 17:14

@Janefx40 congratulations! I’m so glad it was so speedy! I remember being surprised on how quick it all is once it starts.
Regarding after the EC.... procedure itself was easy peasy . I was in a lot of pain the next day. Sorry to say. I felt very painfully bloated. A lot like very very bad PMS. And as if you are not bloated enough, you have to drink 3l of water... remember- hot water bottle! Sounds like by the end of next week you will have egg collection and the awful 2 week wait will start!
@BeHereNow31 I so sympathise with you regarding injections. It’s not very pleasant. What’s your timescale?
I have been on WeighWatchers since 1st Jan, and lost 10.14lb so far!!! And in very healthy way - good plentiful food and exercise attempt...

BeHereNow31 · 20/01/2018 18:39

Congrats on the weight loss fox that’s fab!

jane that’s great news. I was very nervous before EC. Then, on the morning, I was sooo hungry, I couldn’t feel nervous. Just wanted it over to eat! Haha. It was fine though. I slept through it. Then went home and slept more. I am worried about number of eggs too, but suppose we have no control over this...

I am long protocol. So, 4 weeks of injections before my EC. It’s a huge difference! All the best xx

Fox23 · 22/01/2018 17:12

@Janefx40 how did EC go???? How are you feeling?
@BeHereNow31 how are you darling? When are you scheduled?
So, I’ve just got home after my hospital appointment and I’m good to continue. About 3 weeks before transfer. We were talking about embryo transfer etc and I mentioned two embryo tranfer. And doctor just said- if you would rather.... anyway, I have question-
Do I go for one or two???? Please please let me know what you think! I need help

BeHereNow31 · 22/01/2018 18:02

Hi fox. Hmm... I think I would be tempted to put the 2 in!! 🙊🙊 I’m nhs, so it’s not an option for us, and I’ve never had to even think about it. Did the doc say if it would increase your chance of success?. Good luck! 🙂🙂

Jane, hope you’re ok after EC, and managing to rest.

I’m prob about 4 weeks away from EC. Maybe just under. I barely even think about the process just now. I even forget that I do the injections lol. First time round, it was always on my mind!

Xx

Fox23 · 22/01/2018 18:27

@BeHereNow31 see, that’s the thing, I didn’t know I could eat her, as I’m on nhs! I just casually mentioned it, and she was ok! Then we decided that we will put down as two, and when I have my scan on 8th I can. Hangs my mind still. Besides there are no guarantees that both will thaw... regarding chances, I have 7% higher chance with two, but there are many associated risks. Chances of twins are 25% if successful. I’m in total shocl on what to do.
In theory it has always been such a good idea but when it’s written down in your file- it’s a bit scary! Scrap it- not “abit” - VERY scary!!!!!
Maybe it is ok because I just in November jumped age bracket, and now I’m 37.
How old are you? Was the first round also on nhs?

BeHereNow31 · 22/01/2018 18:39

Have a chat with the docs, and maybe see if there’s anyone on here with the experience of putting 2 in?

I am 31. I had to sign a form saying we understand that we can only put 1 back. I think it does depend on age and egg quality etc. First cycle was also nhs. XX

Fox23 · 22/01/2018 19:00

@BeHereNow31 I just reread my post, and you’ve got to love autocorrect 😂😂😂 I meant “either” not “eat her”
I also signed the same form first time when I was 36 in September. But yes, I guess you being 31 possibly means you can only have 1 transfered.
Oh my... so confusing... sometimes I wish decisions were taken away, then life would be so much easier! 😆😆😆😆

Janefx40 · 22/01/2018 21:56

Hi all,

Ah @Fox23 what a dilemma. It's so tricky because of course you want the best chance of a pregnancy but to avoid twins if possible. I would be guided by the clinic I think. I'm over 40 so for me the question would be 2 or 3 if we get that far!!! Let us know what you decide.

So EC went ok and @Fox23 I just read your description of how you felt the next day and it is exactly how I feel now. Bloated, in pain and (joy of joys) with diarrhoea caused, they think, by the cyclogest.

We got lots of eggs (14) and mostly mature but sadly only 1 fertilised naturally. Luckily the clinic decided to do half ICSI with better success. So this morning we had 5 fertilised. They think there may be a binding issue between the sperm and egg as there were practically no sperm bound to the eggs. This is really unusual she said (1% of people). She was quite apologetic really. Said if they had known, they would have done all ICSI. This does, at least, justify our decision to go ahead for IVF when we'd not been trying that long - seems like we would have been very unlikely to get pregnant naturally.

I know 5 is as good as many people get but of course, I am expecting the numbers to drop as days progress so just have to hope we get to transfer.

@BeHereNow31 glad you are in the rythmn. Hope the 4 weeks flies by! Xxx

Fox23 · 22/01/2018 22:49

@Janefx40 great news! Looks like you made the right decision! So glad nowadays we have such opportunities! Just strange to thinks what would have happened if we were born few centuries ago!
I’m sorry to say I was in pain for about 4 days....before it got better. I so hope it’s better with you!
Was worried when didn’t hear from you yesterday, and glad all is good! 5 is very good number, now there is nothing more you can do except wait for the little ones to do their job 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Ging78 · 23/01/2018 07:40

Hi ladies

I've been reading and keeping up to date in your progress. Great news about the 5 fertilised Jane... eventually. We didn't lose any before day 5 so hopefully you won't either!

Beherenow hope this part goes quickly and smoothly. It is harder or easier the second time?

Fox... could you manage twins? We had decided if this one hasn't worked we were going 2 and 2 next. We would have struggled as we don't have people nearby to help out. My family are in ireland and he's not close to his family. But I would have put 2 in and hoped for 2. Then it would have been done. Our embrologist said 2 doesn't double your chances it increases your chances of twins. Xx

Janefx40 · 23/01/2018 11:30

Hello Ladies

Hi @Ging78 Lovely to hear from you

I need your help. All our 5 have survived the night and divided well (yay!). Due to only having 5 and our ages they are almost definitely going for Day 3 transfer so tomorrow.

Same as @Fox23 We now have a dilemma about how many to transfer. In our case it is 2 or 3.

In favour of 3: I am nearly 41 so she said that although they look ok, there is a high chance of the embies being abnormal inside. At my age there is less than 1%chance of triplets, 10% chance of twins. The clinic recommend this (and they get very good results for my age group)

In favour of 2: even tho I am old, my hormone levels are good and I produced lots of eggs. Maybe I am reproductively "younger" than my age and more of the eggs will be "good" than expected. Now we have discovered the binding issue, that may have been the cause of our infertility. Maybe I am super fertile (unlikely but you never know). If I was lucky enough to get pregnant then twins carries a higher risk of miscarriages

Any thoughts ?

Fox23 · 23/01/2018 15:14

@Janefx40 congratulations on first day hatchlings 🐣 when it comes to age, I’m only half a step behind you, so we should be on very similar options. And in some ways we are. I was told that if I chose 2, overall chances increase by 7%. And from all positive only 25% would be twins. @Ging78 awhile ago you said that you will do 1+2+2 and as I only have 4, I decided to do 2 and 1+1. It was a great idea of yours.
@Janefx40- I don’t know if I would do three this time, as you have identified possible reason for your infertility. And now, that you can get around it, you said it yourself - you may be very fertile, and take on all 3 😲😲😲 but chances are low for that...
Oh my, why are things never streight forward
See, I think, I’m knocking on 40 and if it’s twins, then it’s twins and I will have two kids at the same time. Easier then going through it all again in few years. Besides, it all may not work at all anyway...
I’m just rambling here, my brain is like mush and I can’t focus on anything at the moment...
@BeHereNow31 I suppose this is one less dilemma for you 😁. And you can focus on getting them eggs nice and fertile 🐣

Fox23 · 24/01/2018 18:50

@Janefx40 did you have transfer today? If you did, please let us know how it went! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!!! 🤞🤞🤞

Janefx40 · 24/01/2018 19:20

Hello! Yes I had my transfer today. It was totally painless and really quite lovely. DP was there with me. But far from having a cosy relaxing day, we then ended up hanging around for hours for a prescription ! So that was less lovely.

Just have to think positive thoughts now and hope for the best.

How are you? Xxx

Fox23 · 24/01/2018 19:28

@Janefx40 I’m so so happy for you! It now nature doing its job 😁
How many did you transfer? 2 or 3
Did you get the photo of the little dot?
Don’t forget to watch some comedy as apparently laughing helps! Really, last time my hubby couldn’t stop making jokes during the transfer and even doc said that it may help.
What meds were you waiting for? And... the two week wait starts for you! 🤞🤞🤞

Janefx40 · 24/01/2018 22:45

Hiya. We were waiting to find out if we needed injectable progesterone - they had to get my blood tests back. Of course they decided we did! Just done first one. So far so good.

We put back 3 as that was what the clinic recommended. Everywhere is different but if that is what works best for them then I was happy to follow their advice.

We didn't get a photo but we did have fun during transfer and a few laughs. I just have to work on my PMA now.

I'm still quite sore post egg collection so looking forward to those symptoms subsiding and feeling more myself again.

Hope all is good with you xxx

Janefx40 · 24/01/2018 22:49

Sorry I realise that wasn't a very cheery post. I am really happy and it was all good. I'm just super tired now and need to get some sleep. Looking forward to a day off tomorrow to watch some comedy and up my laughing.

Thank you for being supportive / it all helps xxx

Janefx40 · 25/01/2018 08:43

Anyone got any tips for "frozen bum syndrome"? Started injectable projesterone last night and my buttock is definitely asleep!

Fox23 · 25/01/2018 09:29

😂😂😂 no, never heard of it @Janefx40 I suppose google is your answer. You never know- in two weeks I may need to know myself! Last time I used pessaries... literally I was like walking melting candle with wax leaking... sorry tmi... so injections may not be that bad....
