Hi all! I know there's a June/July thread but I've started this one as I'm so far behind everyone else and wanted to find others at the same stage as me!

We're due to start a FET after a failed fresh cycle in march resulted in a CP. We got 5 Frosties which I'm so pleased with and we're putting two frozen ones back this time.

AF came yesterday, so I'm booked in for scratch on 24th of this month and start DR on 22nd.

I joined a thread on my last cycle and it helped me so much as I am very private with all of this. So I'm hoping to find others to share with again 😊

Feet sorry you're having a bad time. Try not to think the statistics. Your body is unique and it shows it has worked before so hopefully it will again.
Leanne love the wee quote and glad you're feeling good today.

I'm embarrassed to say I had the mother of all breakdowns last night. Broke my heart until 2am about everything and anything. Feel I've gone 10 rounds with mike Tyson but I was knocked out in the first round then he just kept going. All started with me feeling sorry for DP not being able to drink on his lads weekend away, he tells me it's fine as he'll have a couple. Oh no you'll not says I!

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 15:32

Aw gamblers its totally understandable to have a melt down once in a while, healthy even I reckon, as it gets it out of your system! The post crying headache the next day is rubbish though, hope youre feeling better now. Yeah I was wondering when DH had to stop drinking too. Hes not a big drinker anyway, just would sometimes have a couple of bottles on a fri or sat night, and not every weekend, so I guess its probably not a big deal.

thegamblersmrs · 31/07/2017 15:38

@ChoChang we are the same and that is totally why I thought it wouldn't be a big deal but we've been salivating over pints in restaurants!

BiscuitBill · 31/07/2017 15:53

To be fair, our consultant told us that alcohol affects sperm 3 months before.. so any things he's doing now will take 3 months to have any affect on his sperm.. so there wasn't much point! He still didn't drink (not by his choice) but that's what she said! Luckily for him we don't need anything from him this time round so he's off the hook lol.
Don't be embarrassed gamblers, you're not the first & you certainly won't be the last!
Feet this part really is the worst bit out of the whole thing, well done you for not giving in & testing early! Thursday will soon be here and hopefully so will your BFP!

AFM - I have my first scan booked for Friday! They mentioned giving me blood thinning injections this time to, apparently it helps with implantation.

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 16:05

Yes, Im sure thats right biscuit, sperm takes 3 months i think so probably wont make a difference. Just thinking back to when DH has been out in the last couple of months, only a couple of times I think and no major sessions, so hopefully ok! Good news about the scan on Fri! Im going on baby asprin this time after egg collection to thin the blood too. Theres nothing in my test results to show its needed, but they recommend it after recurrent mc so they said it wont hurt to do it. Hopefully between the scratch and increased meds and asprin we will get an embryo that both implants and sticks!

BiscuitBill · 31/07/2017 16:38

Same here.. I think because we got so close with out CP last time, it's just that little bit extra to help!
OH and I had another argument discussion about having 2 put back! It always ends the same.. I cry and he says ok we'll put 2 back 😂 I honestly think I would resent him if we only put 1 back and it didn't work.

OP posts:
ChoChang · 31/07/2017 16:53

Yeah you dont want to have any regrets, and cetainly dont want to end up resenting him, so hes right to give in lol.

Luckily were in agreement about having 2 put back providing we get enough viable embryos this time. We got 8 eggs last time, 5 fertilised and 2 made it as viable at day 5. We put 1 back last fresh cycle which was mmc, then did a fet with the other which failed. So the plan is to increase my meds and hopefully get more eggs, and then put 2 back in the fresh cycle.

Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 18:28

We were told to just put one in to reduce the risk of twins but u have got me thinking now...what r the pros and cons of putting 2 in? X

thegamblersmrs · 31/07/2017 18:35

We had to sign the form to say maximum of 2 embryos to put back in.
They said to us they want to put one good quality embryo in or 2 lesser quality. But they wouldn't put 2 good quality embryos in.

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 19:01

With me, its a combination of a couple of things. Cos ive been pregnant twice last yr, they see it as much as about getting the right embryo to stick as much as actually getting a positive result, so by putting two back that increases the chances, if that makes sense. Also cos im having the scratch each i cycle from now on.

They like to avoid twins/triplets as they are higher risk pregnancies. i think at my clinic they encourage to put one back the first time or two, but after that are more agreeable to putting more than one back. They havent discussed quality with me in terms of what theyd put back and i hadnt thought about it - thanks gamblers I will ask them!

Sure there are other reasons for other people which would make them choose to put 1 or 2 back but i dont know what they are!

Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 19:25

Ok thanks I'm bad at just letting them tell me what to do and I don't ask questions! I'm going private so I should be asking everything but I just take their word as gospel and feel I need to trust they know what they're doing xxx

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 31/07/2017 20:33

Ours is the same as yours Gamblers, we had to sign to say they will put one good quality embryo back in or two lesser quality. They were quite firm about the fact that they wouldn't put 2 back in first time with no good reason.

Finding I hope that you are feeling a bit better this evening. A friend who went through this had no symptoms at all, was convinced it hadn't worked and then bam. Like others have said 'it ain't over til it's over!'.

Cho were you recommended to take baby aspirin? I wonder it it may help, I'm throwing everything at this.

We had our scan today and all is progressing well, looks like egg collection will be Friday. I've got another scan Wednesday and they will tell me then when to do the trigger. I'm petrified! I've told my employer that I won't be in next week Confused It was really stressing me out the fact that I don't know If it'll be a day3 or day5 transfer, and it's likely I will be sedated for transfer as well as retrieval so will definitely need some time. I hate it though, always feel so guilty.

BiscuitBill · 31/07/2017 20:43

My consultant just said it's to give us the best chance! We had 1 top quality embie put back last time.. and it very nearly made it. The rest aren't as good but still good quality.. I would love twins! And I know they say 'high risk' but the way I see it.. I'm no more high risk than anyone else who conceives them naturally?!

OP posts:
Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 20:51

I definitely don't want twins but just because my friend has had a really bad experience! There's a chance my EC will be Friday too crying and I find out Wednesday too! I'm a nervous wreck about it I'm a bit of a wimp xx

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 20:53

leanne i was the same last time, i never asked anything. This time ive been asking everything i can possibly think of, and it was me that enquired about putting 2 back and my consultant agreed with me, so im glad i asked!

crying baby asprin has been mentioned in passing in my appointments at recurrent mc clinic and by my consultant, but not properly discussed. So in my drugs appointment today with the nurse i asked about it and she had a word with the consultant. Apparently its to do with problems with blood clotting which can cause implantation failure or mc, so the baby asprin thins the blood to help prevent this. None of my test results show that i have this problem, but my consultant said that the recurrent mc clinic recommend it as standard for their patients. I was told it definitely wont do any harm, so may as well do it. They said to take 75mg day from a day or two after egg collection. I know thats quite specific to my scenario but hope it helps!

Glad your scan went well and everything is progressing well. You will be fine, try not to worry . Taking time off is good if it means you will be more relaxed, and if you are going under for EC and ET then it makes sense to. I will probs take some time off in 2ww, although cant decide when to take it!

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 20:59

I would love twins too biscuit! Although like you leanne i have a close friend who had major problems and v premature twins that were in hospital for a long time.

I dont think we would be any higher risk than someone who conceived them naturally, its just that twins/triplets are higher risk pregnancies in general so they dont like to deliberately create that scenario through ivf etc. I think thats right anyway!

Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 20:59

Thank u Chang I will ask about two embies when I go in on Wednesday xx

Nowwhyareyoucrying · 31/07/2017 21:11

Ahh Cho that's really interesting, thank you, I think will be adding some to the Tesco shop. I will ask my nurse on Wednesday what she thinks too.

Leanne that's so exciting that we're looking at the same day. I will be thinking if you on Wednesday.

But random but how long are your DPs planning on abstaining before egg retrieval? it says 2-5 days but this seems quite broad, does anyone know the optimum time?

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 21:17

Ours says 2-4 days so i guess we'll go for 3! Unless anyone has an optimum number?!

thegamblersmrs · 31/07/2017 21:31

Aw guys that's so exciting that your progressing and potentially on the same day. Pity you won't be able to proper hold hands! I'll be thinking of you all!

I have this romantic fluffy notion that when we go in for ec the person in the next bed will have been through the same and we will blather and make friends and support each other right through to buggy fit classes but most likely it'll be a very pregnant mum in the next bed and I'll make them feel very awkward with my oversharing of being barren!

I don't think I'll be doing cardio for much longer, body attack near ended me tonight!

thegamblersmrs · 31/07/2017 21:31

Oh, and our clinic said day 3 swimmers are the best!

findingmyfeet12 · 31/07/2017 21:36

Good luck to you all with the next stages of your treatment.

This forum is a lifesaver for me. I don't talk to many people about it in my real life and I worry about becoming an IVF bore. It's great to find other people who are equally invested and obsessed with the minute details (even though I wish none of us were having to go through this).

Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 22:05

Haha gamblers imagine!! Cz we r private were put in to private rooms and I kind of hate it cz he just left with nothing to do to take ur mind off things, I love a ppl watch 😂 I can't help with the guys side as we r using frozen swimmmers!
Anyone else feel nervous about the scans? I just feel so nervous that nothing's happening and I won't have any follicles 🤦🏼‍♀️

ChoChang · 31/07/2017 22:16

Me too finding, i dont speak much about it except to my dh, thats why i cant shut my cake hole on here lol

Day 3 swimmers it is then leanne! im sure youll have lots of follicles, will be thinking about you both on wed.

Were nhs but the fertility centre is a standalone unit on a business park so its like being private, own rooms etc.

Leanne1185 · 31/07/2017 22:23

I'm on here all the time too uz must think...shut up 🙊But I don't like boring others and don't like to stress my hubby out xx
