IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

geeup · 26/04/2017 07:13

I'm so sorry lulah. I totally understand how sad you feel. However you were feeling before, it's a horrible shock and dreadfully disappointing. Thinking of you.

bjonesreborn · 26/04/2017 07:34

lulah I'm so sorry. I know exactly how you feel. Look after yourself. Xx

Hobbes39 · 26/04/2017 08:11

Oh Lulah - so sorry. I keep checking to see how you girls are getting on, and it's so unfair when it's not good news. Thinking of you, it does get a bit less raw.. xx

Nemo79 · 26/04/2017 09:14

Oh @lulah I'm so so sorry xxx

BeePositive · 26/04/2017 09:21

So sorry to hear this lulah. I'm dying for this 2ww to be over myself, but dreading the test day, it's such mixed feelings and heavy emotions.

Thinking of you today Flowers

MushaSoturi · 26/04/2017 10:14

So sorry to hear that lulah, is there any chance it could be false?

Ozzyboo · 26/04/2017 10:45

So sorry lulah 😞 hope you & OH are ok x x

lulahbelle · 26/04/2017 11:02

Thanks all - really wish none of us had to know how this feels. I knew the odds were against us but had really hoped that with us having transferred a top quality blast, we had a really good chance. Don't think it could be false even though my OTD was earlier than most people's (9dp5dt) - used two FRERs and there wasn't even a shadow of a second line on either. Thanks very much for all your support - it's meant a lot. X

BeePositive · 26/04/2017 11:12

It's pure psychological torture lullah where we want to be positive, keep our hopes up and then they get smashed. Know we are all thinking of you and wish only the best.

What are your next steps?

lulahbelle · 26/04/2017 12:17

Just spoken to clinic and next steps are to carry on with cyclogest and test again in 2 days which seems insane - why not give you an OTD of 11dp5dt if they think there's a chance your test result on 9dp5dt could be wrong?! Going to get a blood test later - I know it will be negative but better than waiting and going through this morning again on Friday. Then I guess we need to speak to the consultant about a FET.

Hope ET went well today musha and the tww isn't going too slowly ozzy, bee and nemo

BeePositive · 26/04/2017 12:34

That is frustrating lulah. I'm sorry. I know you want to just know for 100% certain and having this hope in back of your mind (around being too early to test potentially) is awful.

Keeping hopeful for you of course and do continue with your Cyclogest.

Hobbes39 · 26/04/2017 12:45

Lulah - so sorry you are having this torture. My OTD was 14dpo egg collection, so equivalent to 9dp5dt. But mine was a blood test not a POAS. I'm glad you are getting a blood test as that will be definitive... there is a v small chance that even a FRER won't pick up a positive at this stage, and if you haven't started bleeding then you never know, but it is a v small chance, so don't want to get your hopes up. I just hope you can get an answer asap from your clinic. Will keep everything crossed for you x

Thanks hobbes and apologies for the monumental pity party which has led me to completely omit to ask how you, bjones and gee are doing?

bjonesreborn · 26/04/2017 13:06

Totally understandable lulah have everything crossed for you. It's so hard isn't it. Hopefully you will get a definitive answer this afternoon. All thoughts with you.
I'm ok, good moments and bad moments. Just trying to work out what the hell to do really. Obviously the money is an issue but it's time that is more of an issue. As in getting time off work as nannying doesn't really give to taking time off last minute! And I found out last night my job is coming to an end in December. So I have 2 weeks off the beginning of July but don't think that is enough time for me to have 2 natural cycles before then. Therefore I'm not sure we can do another cycle before I leave here. Then we get into the whole thing of having to be in a job a certain amount of time to get maternity pay etc.
Anyway I'm a great believer in everything happens for a reason( though not so much now after the failed cycle!)
Hope everyone else is ok xx

MushaSoturi · 26/04/2017 13:11

ET went well, 1 grade 4BB put back in, 1 for freezing today and they'll call me tomorrow to let me know if there are any more to freeze. They said to come in for blood test on 10th May, but that I can do a home test the day before, which is still 13dp5dt and seems super late! AF usually turns up 16 days after ovulation which will be 7th May so I'll probably know by then anyway.

Hobbes39 · 26/04/2017 13:43

Lulah - don't apologise - I think you are totally entitled to be focused on you today, it's such a shit feeling, just hope you are ok. I'm ok thanks - it does get a bit less devastating as you have to carry on, don't you? Otherwise I'd just be a depressed mess. Am focusing on my one little Frostie and hoping that can come good - looks like FET for July.
Bjones - as an aside - you mention worries about maternity leave if you were to get pregnant - you might not be aware but look up Maternity Allowance - it's the same as statutory maternity pay but for when you don't qualify for SMP. (I had it before as I was self employed). Depending on your employer, if they only give statutory anyway, it therefore makes no difference, so you don't need to worry about how long you've been working somewhere. I hope that helps & I really hope it works next time for you xxx
