IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

Hope2409 · 21/04/2017 13:56

Thank you for your kind wishes everyone, it still doesn't feel real, not sure its sunk in yet! There is a big feeling of relief and excitement tho as i started to think it would never happen for me.

gee yes they changed my stimm does up to 375 of gonal f this time as we only made day 3 last time and they wanted to get us to day 5 this time.
I'm not sure on the exact impact of this or if it was coincidence but we made day 5, 2 grade C blasts went back in and one frostie, my lining was also much better this time too, they were happy with it before but this time it was thicker and they said it was an excellent triple layer lining.
The only things i did differently were added vitamins, i took pregnacare conception then added uniquinol, vit c, vit e, omega 3, folic acid, vit d and zinc.
I took whole week of EC off and returned to work day after ET, it was only a 3 day week due to the easter hols tho so i then had another 4 days off!!!!

I tried to take it easy, i don't drink or smoke or drink tea or coffee etc.... tried to drink lots of water and eat reasonable healthily (didnt manage this all the time tho!)
I think that's it so who knows!
Oddly tho towards the end of this week i just had a feeling it had worked and that kept me quite positive, i just felt different.
My first scan is booked for 12th May x

musha bless you i cried in the anaesthetic room too and when i came round! Well done on the 11 thats great, fingers crossed for tomorrows results!

ozzy day 5 transfer is definately good well done and all the best for monday!

lulah not long to go now 9dp5dt does seem early but hcg can be picked up by day 9 so they must be happy that its the right day for you, fingers crossed!

Hope everyone else is doing ok, is it ok if i stay for a bit to cheer you all on still? X

MushaSoturi · 21/04/2017 14:12

Thanks guys, hope I'm so glad it wasn't just me I felt like such a tool! Yes please do stay around x

BeePositive · 21/04/2017 14:19

Please do stay hope, it will be great to follow your positive progress and have some happy news to keep the rest of us feeling there is hope for us all (pardon the pun)!

Plus you are a wealth of knowledge. What is Uniquinol? Did Nuffield recommend this, or something you took from GP or other recommendation?

Nemo79 · 21/04/2017 15:06

Hi Guys, I hope you don't mind me hopping on board. This is the first time I've signed up to one of these forums, thinking it'll will be nice to have some other ladies to share this journey with. This is my first IVF cycle and I'm day 4 after egg retrieval. Booked in for my transfer tomorrow, scared and excited! xx

BeePositive · 21/04/2017 15:21

Welcome nemo! This is my first forum too, and I've been on for a couple of weeks and found the ladies here just wonderful! It's great to have everyone's support, who knows what we're going through each step of the way.

Best of luck with ET tomorrow Star. Mine was this past Wednesday and it went smooth and well. Keep us posed on your side.

Ozzyboo · 21/04/2017 15:31

Welcome nemo! I'm just a little behind you.. had my EC Wednesday and booked in for ET on Monday! What were your numbers?
Congrats on getting 11 eggs musha! This whole thing is such an emotional experience, but hopefully you'll never have to go through it again x

geeup · 21/04/2017 15:38

Congrats musha and welcome Nemo.
Bee - ubiquinol you may know as co-enzyme q10? It's one of the recommended supplements in the book "It all starts with the egg" if you fancy a read (about gettting good quality eggs for ivf). Nuffield don't recommend any supplements as they say none are proven but we're happy for me to keep taking mine if I wanted. I take a multi vit plus folic acid + vit D, 1000mg fish oil, and a baby aspirin. That said, it didn't work for me last cycle so none of it is a magic answer sadly.

Nemo79 · 21/04/2017 15:46

Thanks @BeePositive - Glad your ET went well! How are you finding your 2ww? Think I'm going to find it hard to concentrate on anything over the next week or so! x

Hi @Ozzyboo - Wishing you lots of luck for Monday. I had 7 eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized and were still going strong yesterday. Fingers crossed they're still all okay tomorrow. How did things go for you? x

Hope2409 · 21/04/2017 16:00

I tried the ubiquinol (form of coq10) after some research online, books and from forums that suggested it was good for egg quality and also sperm (we have mfi) so both me and DH took it, i took 2 tablets each day and he took 1 as he was already on a multi vitamin that contained it!
I got it online, it's a bit pricey but i wanted to try something new after our first cycle failed and it was much cheaper than extras at the clinic so i gave it a go. Will never really know if any of it helped but i felt like i was doing something!
I'm at Oxford Fertility and they just recommended pregnacare, said as long as i was taking folic acid that was the important one.

Welcome nemo well done on your 5 fertilised eggs, all the best for ET x

MushaSoturi · 22/04/2017 12:30

Welcome Nemo hope your ET goes well today.

Just spoke to the hospital and of my 11 eggs 9 have fertilised! Very happy with that number. Provisionally booked in for ET Monday but they might call me and push it to Wednesday.

lulahbelle · 22/04/2017 17:11

Congrats musha - that's great news!

Hope ET went well nemo

Ozzyboo · 22/04/2017 22:58

How are you Nemo? X

Nemo79 · 22/04/2017 23:02

That's great @Musha - pleased it went well for you! xx

ET was fine...one good blast put back and definitely at least one suitable for freezing, but will have more info on Monday!

SilverLinings2014 · 23/04/2017 06:44

Congratulations musha, great numbers and well done nemo, hope the tww is kind to you.

I've been avoiding the thread this weekend as my tww craziness escalated. I caved and tested today at 9dp5dt and it's only a bloody bfp. I actually cannot believe it. I've been convinced my period was about to start the past few days; all my usual premenstrual symptoms are there including crippling insomnia, so I'm in total shock this morning.

Wanda354 · 23/04/2017 07:48

Congratulations Silverlinings and Hope! Wonderful news for both. I was thinking back over everyone's outcomes on this thread so far and overall there seems to have been quite a lot of good news, which gives me hope for the future. So far I think there have been 5 BFPs now?

Hoping that we see some more from this still on, or soon to start, their 2WW. Good luck everyone.

Hope2409 · 23/04/2017 08:08

Congratulations silverlinings amazing news!!!

BeePositive · 23/04/2017 09:18

Glad ET went well nemo. Hope it's a gentle 2ww for you now Smile

Congratulations silver - such happy news!

I've still got another full week countdown till OTD next Monday. I'm going to go crazy, but the good news on this thread keeps me smiling!
