IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

Bjones - my hospital say 35 hours before collection, so midnight - but yours must be 36 - I'm not sure why they vary... it does make me nervous that there are so many variations to things, as makes me wonder whether they are just guessing about things! ConfusedShock

Just checked my paperwork (for the millionth time!!) and def 11pm tonight. Makes me nervous too hobbes, let's hope they know what they're doing!!!

Hhno2 · 01/04/2017 21:28

Blackcherries how's your bleeding?
For those have egg collection good luck hope you get lots of lovely eggs!!!

jodybug0908 · 01/04/2017 21:29

I'm feeling really pessimistic now about it working. Everyone keeps saying how it hardly ever works first time and how odds are stacked against us and we should prepare ourselves for it not working. I'm so happy for all the happy news here today but now wish I'd not told anyone as their pessimism has really got me upset. 😣 sorry needed to rant

Hobbes39 · 01/04/2017 21:56

Aw, Jody Flowers I don't really know what to say but I know I found that trying to get a balance between being positive / not getting my hopes up too much was the hardest part of the 2ww.
The odds aren't great generally for IVF that is true, but there is NO reason at all why you won't be one of the lucky ones! keep your chin up xxx

Jody we did it first time with my son so don't let it get you down the second time round it's taken us 4 times and we are finally pregnant! But that first time it was by the book! It can happen yes it's not always the case but believe in yourself and stay positive because it can happen!!!

Ozzyboo · 01/04/2017 22:32

Jodybug0908 this is our 1st time too and I am so excited but also so nervous! And like Hobbes39 said it's so difficult to get the balance between staying positive and getting your hopes up 😖
I've read so many success stories for first timers! There is even a thread on here for first time success stories if you scroll back and have a read!

jodybug0908 · 01/04/2017 22:43

Thanks everyone xx just having a meltdown and needed to rant. I know my friends trying to help by saying not to get hopes up as they know how devastating it will be to get a negative result. Xx I'll look for that group x

blackcherries · 01/04/2017 23:00

It's so hard! I found that thread too which was great to read.
My bleeding has continued on and off most of the day , I've been so up and down. The pregnancy could be on its way out which could explain faint lines on test. Going to test again in the morning but can't honestly imagine it's still good news with this much bleeding.

bjonesreborn · 01/04/2017 23:23

My first time too.
Have just read that thread, thanks for pointing it out, was good to read.
Find this whole thing exciting but terrifying at the same time. Trying to get the balance of feelings is so hard.
Trigger shot done. Off to bed now for a long awaited lie in.
Black cherries, hope you're ok Flowers

Ozzyboo · 01/04/2017 23:35

I've just posted in the 'first time success stories' so it should be at the top of the list now for anyone else needing a pick me up!

Hobbes39 · 02/04/2017 00:05

Trigger shot done for me too now. Enjoy your day off from injections bjones!
Blackcherries - thinking of you xxx

Blackcherries thinking of you what has clinic said? Xx

blackcherries · 02/04/2017 07:42

I'm out. More bleeding like a period and the faintest shadow of a line today, way lighter than yesterday. I've got to keep taking pessaries and test again on Weds but I think that's just to confirm.

Far more devastated now due to this rollercoaster ride we've been taken on but glad to have an answer - guess the pregnancy was on its way out by the time I tested. Going to go straight back in with frozen one if we can. Just really want to know what went wrong as everything was looking good up until Tuesday. Worried I didn't insert pessaries high enough or something!

bjonesreborn · 02/04/2017 09:24

Oh blackcherries I'm so sorry. It is a massive rollercoaster we are all on indeed. Sure it was nothing you did wrong yourself though. Concentrate on the fact you have some frozen. Look after yourself

Annab1983 · 02/04/2017 09:25

So sorry to hear that blackcherries, hoping it's still ok for you, if you are out it wouldn't have anything to do with what you did or didn't do though x

Hope2409 · 02/04/2017 09:31

blackcherries im so sorry to hear that, look after yourself, and like annab said it wouldnt have anything to do with what u did or didnt do Flowers

DippyDeeeee · 02/04/2017 09:45

Blackcherries so sorry to hear that and it won't be anything you've done. Reading how different everyone's cycles are, different drugs/timings etc makes me think that it is just a total lottery at times. Everything can be text book and not work and other cycles on paper read like a total nightmare and work.

Good luck triggering ladies. I'm hoping that should be next week. Did you have to mix it? Hoping they collect all of fabulous eggies tomorrow Smile

Jodybug it's an emotional rollercoaster and don't forget we are pumped up full of hormones too. I think it's good to have hope and it can totally work first time. My daughter was a first time iui and the chances of those working are shite!

I've already got dates booked in for our 2nd IVF (nhs cycle) so I'm definitely looking at this as the long game but still have hope it can work first time

Hhno that's amazing. 4th time lucky x

geeup · 02/04/2017 10:45

Heart goes out to you blackcherries. Look after yourself.

Ozzyboo · 02/04/2017 11:22

I'm so sorry Blackcherries 😔 please be kind to yourself, it was nothing you did or could have done x x

SilverLinings2014 · 02/04/2017 11:40

So sorry Blackcherries Flowers

Hobbes39 · 02/04/2017 12:15

I'm so sorry blackcherries - it's just heartbreaking to be so close. Flowers
I had a chemical last time and while it really hit me hard at the time, I now feel slightly more positive about it as being so close means i hope it's just going to take one thing to our way this time and we should get there. (I hope!) My consultant said it was a 'good' thing too - shows that the embryo can implant...
It does feel totally devastating, take time to just accept how you feel & look after yourself xxxxCakeFlowers x

lulahbelle · 02/04/2017 12:48

So sorry blackcherries - like everyone else has said, it won't be anything you did or didn't do. Take care of yourself - will be thinking of you Flowers

Good luck with EC tomorrow bjones and Hobbes

Hope you're feeling better today jody

geeup · 02/04/2017 18:37

Ladies I have ET tomorrow. Anything I need to do to prepare? Empty bladder/full bladder?

Annab1983 · 02/04/2017 18:40

Anyone else in the 2WW and want to chat? Not due to test until Friday.. that's 12 days past 5 day transfer.. I could probably test a little earlier but am enjoying being PUPO, so will probably hold off-don't want to be proven otherwise! Still cramping quite a lot but boobs are no longer sore, I wonder is this the trigger shot fully gone from my system as they weren't sore until I took that? The analysing could drive you mad!
