IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

I guess the more you have the better ozzy but then again it only takes one magic one!

bjonesreborn · 29/03/2017 13:15

hobbes today is day 10 of gonal f

blackcherries · 29/03/2017 13:54

bjones that sounds similar to me at early scans! Good luck.

Thanks for your nice messages everyone - good news is the bleeding was very short-lived. I don't worry about spotting but last night it was definitely a bit of red with a small clot (sorry TMI) so I did panic and expected it to continue but it didn't. Am just taking it day by day. Feeling quite twingey!

bjonesreborn · 29/03/2017 14:02

Thanks blackcherries Fab news your bleeding has stopped, hope it docent return, everything crossed for you. How many eggs did they collect from you? (sorry if you have already said on here)

blackcherries · 29/03/2017 14:08

Hi, I got 16 eggs! I had one or two big ones that they thought might be 'overcooked' by EC and had no idea how many to expect so that was a pleasant surprise.

Hobbes39 · 29/03/2017 14:09

That's great blackcherries - really good news! did you have 1 or 2 put back? X

OP posts:
blackcherries · 29/03/2017 14:36

I had 1 put back. Got 3 for the freezer too. I'm quite against risking twins though and there was one blast that was more developed on the day so luckily didn't need to make a decision.

SilverLinings2014 · 29/03/2017 14:44

Blackcherries that's good news, i hope the little embie sticks. One day at a time is all you can do. I had horrific bleeding with my successful fresh cycle...including an ambulance to hospital one night (it was that bad) and 6 weeks bleeding in total...so it isn't always the end but I know it feels even more precarious and uncertain when it happens. Hang in there.

Well day one of progynova here and I feel horrendous. Headaches and dizzy spells; I just want to lie in a dark room. Can anyone give me any tips on how to manage /minimise this because I'm really struggling to function Sad

geeup · 29/03/2017 14:46

Hi all. This thread has romped on! Need to catch up on desktop - apologies. Just to say I had 6 eggs collected today so just waiting now for the call in the morning. Good luck to all of you. Will catch up tomorrow.

Ozzyboo · 29/03/2017 14:48

Hhno2 · 29/03/2017 19:48

Freaking out guys getting the worst lower back pain ever praying it's not period coming!!!! Please god I hope not!

Hope2409 · 29/03/2017 19:55

Hello all, hope everyone is doing ok today!

geeup well done on your EC, hope you have been resting up. Fingers crossed for your call tomorrow x

blackcherries good news that your bleeding has stopped, hope its plain sailing from now on x

lulahbelle good luck with your injection tonight, its really not so bad and you get used to them quickly! It doesnt really hurt, only as it goes in and depending on what you are like it might bruise, i bruise really easily so have a lovey bruise on my tum!
I'm doing one every evening and two every other evening as im on a higher dose this time, its scary how it becomes second nature after a while!

Scan went well today, follicles are growing well so far, my clinic doesnt like to say how many exactly, they say not to get hung up on numbers (easy for them to say!) She said my lining was thickening well too. I did sneek a peek and it said my endometrium was at 9.8mm which sounds good i think! They are keeping my gonal f dose the same. Really hoping it does the job and i get more eggs, hoping to get to day 5 this time and if we're lucky have a frostie or two!
Back in on friday for another scan and bloods and hopefully a decision on when EC will be.

Xxx

kmmr · 29/03/2017 21:57

Hobbes39 · 29/03/2017 23:09

Just popping on to say good luck for your call tomorrow Geeup - fingers crossed for you xxx
And Hope - glad to hear your scan went well - I don't know how you can bear not being told - I'd go mad! I'm back in on Friday too - depending on what things look like then it's looking likely for Tuesday or Wednesday next week for EC for me, but will see what happens Friday. X

Hi thanks for your kind words. 5 of the 6 fertilised which we are thrilled with. Next call is tomorrow morning but they've told me to expect transfer on Monday.
Good luck to those scanning tomorrow and of course for the upcoming testers.

Wanda354 · 30/03/2017 12:06

Wonderful news geeup. Good luck for Monday.

hhno how is the back pain? I had it a couple of days ago but seems to have gone now.

Am finding it hard to think about anything other than whether or not I am pregnant. Even though I'm at work. Couldn't get to sleep last night for thinking about it. I called the clinic this morning to check what they advise re test date, and they said 12 days after ET, which for me is next Friday. That is an age away. I don't really understand the science of this, because if EC is equivalent to ovulation (day 14), then next Tuesday would be equivalent to day28 of a natural cycle, by which time a pregnancy test would work. So surely testing then would work? The internet seems to be awash with photos of people's BFN tests at as early as 5 or 6 days after a 5 day transfer.

What do others think? Has anyone tested early and had a BFP on a previous cycle?

Hobbes39 · 30/03/2017 12:25

Hi Wanda - honestly, personally -if I got to 14 days post EC I would def test then, as I've had short cycles since having my DS and when I had my ectopic pregnancy in Nov 2015 I knew I was pregnant before taking the test as while I was only 12dpo I'd not got that far without spotting since DS was born. I guess it depends on you and your body - if you think you can cope with each eventuality then I don't see any harm... but others might disagree...! X
