IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

I know that feeling! This is my first cycle and I'm constantly crying. Now I'm worrying cos of what everyone said about multiple embryos and I just can't stop eating. Panicking over everything and trying to keep calm. We don't have the money to go private so our next go on frozen embryo is our last shot ( hopefully this one will work and we won't need it!)

Hhno2 · 27/03/2017 14:12

Hopefully!! And hopefully your frozen can be your second 🤞!!!
When is your test day?

jodybug0908 · 27/03/2017 14:22

Test on 6 April. So long away!

Hhno2 · 27/03/2017 14:35

Not too long!! I'm on the 1st literally counting down the days!!

bjonesreborn · 27/03/2017 15:35

Good luck everyone on their 2ww.
I've got a scan on wed to see how the follicles are growing, fingers crossed it's good news

Annab1983 · 27/03/2017 16:08

Omg I am eating everything in sight and feeling every twinge also! it is so hard not to read into everything though! It is only day 1 of my 2WW also so long way to go 🙄 We have one frozen embryo now which I am very grateful for, am sad about the 3 wee embies that didn't make the cut though.. but have to imagine they would only freeze what looked good enough to survive the thaw or they wouldn't bother so at least we have a second chance for the future 🙂 Can't believe I am able to say have one on board and one in the freeezer, no one expected it would go as well so am so thankful! Good luck to everyone here, hang in there! x

Hobbes39 · 27/03/2017 16:43

God, I'm struggling to keep up - so sorry if I miss anyone out, but hope you girls in your 2ww are doing ok... honestly try to keep yourselves busy as it's all down to luck now, and symptom spotting is where madness lies for me anyway!!
LoPI - GOOD LUCK - I really hope everything goes well today and that the eggs you get are fabulous & that you feel ok afterwards - let us know how you get on xx
I have my day 6 scan tomorrow to see if any follicles have developed - I think something must be happening down there as I'm totally exhausted - losing that hour on Saturday night didn't do me any favours! I'm totally glugging down the milk and water, but still feel dehydrated... fingers crossed for tomorrow... 🤞

Ps - hi Lulah - welcome!
kmmr - I'm so sorry you lost a frozen one, it sucks, but as others have said, you only need one xxxx

I just feel ridiculously normal, so sort of convinced it's not good news, but remembered I had no symptoms until AF was overdue last time.

Wanda354 · 27/03/2017 19:16

Hi Lulahbelle!

Day 1 of 2ww is dragging already. Going to be the longest 2 weeks ever.

Clinic told me to keep taking progynova 8mg a day and the cyclogest pessaries until OTD. DP is worrying that maybe I shouldn't be taking the progynova any more. Clinic has been fairly contradictory and disorganised throughout so it's not impossible they may have told me the wrong thing.

Is everyone else in the 2ww still taking the progynova?

Hhno2 · 27/03/2017 19:42

Wanda yes I'm still on progynova and patches and progesterone injections on day 5 2ww and will have to continue eveything till 7 weeks pregs if I'm lucky enough to get there!

Wanda354 · 27/03/2017 21:09

Oh that's a relief to know, thanks hhno.

kmmr · 27/03/2017 21:53

I took estrogen tabs through the first 6 weeks of my last pregnancy, so that sounds right.
Day1 here, and obsessing like its the first time! But off to work again, and try to get absorbed in it.

Ozzyboo · 27/03/2017 22:05

All you lovely ladies on 2ww - Have any of you been signed off work?

blackcherries · 27/03/2017 22:42

No, busier than ever (I.e. doing some even now at home!)
Glad that I had 3 days off after EC but felt ok after ET. Ideally wouldn't have gone in between EC and ET as couldn't concentrate but never mind.

Wanda354 · 28/03/2017 06:33

I'm at work too. Wanted to keep busy, hopefully make the days go faster!

SilverLinings2014 · 28/03/2017 07:22

Morning everyone,
Hope thosenon the tww not going totally bonkers yet. Keeping busy is a good idea; immerse yourself in something as a distraction, even if it's a puzzle or crap tv.

I could do with some advice on timings. I'm being scanned this afternoon (a week later than I should have been due to a balls up at the clinic but that's a whole other thread Angry). I've basically missed my baseline scan but they've said if all okay this afternoon I'll be starting Progynova. So my question is how long were you on progynova before ET? And how many scans did you have in that time to check lining? Work is crazy busy at the moment and I travel 100 miles each way so im going to struggle making appointments.

LoPl · 28/03/2017 09:55

Hobbes - thanks for the message. Was lovely to receive after having a crap EC. One egg - pretty devastated (didn't think we would get 8 like last time but was hoping for 4/5 good quality ones instead).

Silvelinnings - sorry, can't help. Was not on Progynova.

Hobbes39 · 28/03/2017 10:11

Oh LoPI - I'm so sorry, that's so devastating Flowers. I will keep everything crossed for you that your egg is the best egg ever and that it will pull out all the stops to get you through. I don't have the words, as I know you must be in bits, am thinking of you - please keep us updated and keep your chin up xxx
AFM - today was actually possibly the first time I've come out of the clinic feeling ok, as I think I've lowered my expectations so low that anything reasonably good is great..! There are 3 follicles on each side that range from 7.5 to 11.5, so that's good 😊- and probably irrelevant, as they are teenie, but there were 5 other tiny ones there too. Doc this time took her time and was really nice, so I'm hoping this is a good sign! How are you doing Hope? X

SilverLinings, I am on progynova but my timings are probably different to yours as I am doing a donor egg cycle using DP's egg. I was taking the progynova for a week while she was on gonal-f. After EC, I added the cyclogest pessaries.

LoPI, so sorry EC was disappointing this cycle. Hopefully the quality of the one they collected is good and you will get a good blast from it. Xx

Ozzyboo · 28/03/2017 10:17

Ah that's good then I've been panicking about missing work as they don't know what's happening!
I tell them I have hosp appointments etc.. and they tend not to ask too many questions, so I was just planning to call in sick if I needed too! Maybe take a couple of days off between EC & ET then.
I suppose it's better to keep busy anyway, think I'd go crazy just sitting at home!

Hhno2 · 28/03/2017 10:32

Ozzyboo Say your having a minor op (hysteroscopy) that's what I said after ec and took a few days off.

kmmr · 28/03/2017 11:00

LoPI - sorry about the single egg. I always think there is one good egg in each 'batch' so hopefully this is just a perfect one.

I haven't taken any time off work, even yesterday I just told them I was working from home. Did a bit on the weekend, and some last night (emails etc) and decided I work hard enough to swing a few hours for a transfer. I work 4 days, so in theory I could have swapped days, but I just decided not to!

I'm cramping a lot, very period feeling cramps, but everything I read says cramps are normal after ET. But I don't like the feeling...

Annab1983 · 28/03/2017 13:02

Yes I am 2 days past 5 day transfer and cramping a lot too, know it's normal but is too reminiscent of period pain so makes me nervous!

LoPl · 28/03/2017 13:07

Got the call. My little egg did not fertilise Sad. Appt on Friday morning to see what else we could do....

Good luck everyone else. Really hope it happens for you.
