IVF Cycle buddies March/April

I know we are only partway through February, but I'm down to start our 2nd round of IVF once my period starts at the end of this month, so thought I'd start a cycle buddies thread now as I gear up..!
Our history is that we have a 3.5yo DS, naturally conceived, but have been trying for a sibling for 2 years now... we had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago, but after that nothing... so as I'll be 40 next month, we decided there wasn't time to waste anymore and had all the tests last year but we are 'unexplained'... so we had a cycle of IVF in November/December but sadly was unsuccessful as ended in a chemical pregnancy. So here we go again - fingers crossed it's 2nd time lucky...! If anyone else is starting soon then would be great to have the support! Xx

Jodybug I was just saying the same to my husband been indulging in so much chocolate have to stop and be hardcore healthy!!!

jodybug0908 · 25/03/2017 21:42

Side effects of progesterone I think! Hope I won't have ruined my chances cos of it! Salads and soups from now on!

Hhno2 · 25/03/2017 21:56

Me too! Xx fingers crossed we will do ok

Ozzyboo · 25/03/2017 22:54

Geeup just reading is helping so much and knowing I'm not the only person who feels this way and is going through this! I suppose I'd just like to talk about my journey as we progress as I don't feel I can talk to family/friends as they won't have a clue!

Hhno20 they told me to take it until they say, ring on the 1st day of my next period but for no longer than 14 days! My period is only 1 week away but am I right in thinking the suprecur makes it come quicker?

Jodybug0908 I hope everything is ok and you have relaxed a little, I know it can't be easy and know I will be a nervous wreck when my 2ww comes!

Hhno2 · 25/03/2017 23:06

Ozzyboo my period was late and we were debating whether to take norethisterone to bring it on but it did eventually come I actually ended up taking suprecur for ages as I wasn't quite ready to stop I took it alongside the oestrogen right up until I switched to the progesterone 5 days before transfer I was on a v long protocol all in all 6 weeks !! So I'm now in tww and hoping this is it!!! Good luck :) x

Any early risers? I have ET this morning at 9. Worrying about cyclogest pessary. They didn't tell me not to do it this morning but am worrying that if I do, it will be all waxy in the way when they do the ET. Should I do it rectally instead? They didn't tell me to!

Ozzyboo · 26/03/2017 07:14

Morning Wanda354, how exciting for you! Sorry I can't answer your question as I'm not at that stage yet and this is my first time! But just wanted to say a huge good luck Smile

Wanda354 · 26/03/2017 07:50

Thank you!

Hobbes39 · 26/03/2017 08:05

On my phone, so difficult to read all the posts I've missed, but hope you are both doing ok Jody & Hhno - on your longest 2 weeks! Will keep everything crossed! Good luck to those that have transfer tomorrow - it's all happening now isn't it?
I'm on my 4th day of stims and had a stress yesterday - the disposable needle that screws onto the reusable gonal f pen I have wouldn't come offf again after my injection! Arg! Can't get it off at all, by thankfully had another one that I was able to use this am, will have to get a new one from clinic on Tuesday at my scan... I googled it and seems I'm not the first, but no ideas on how to get it off! Thankfully was only one dose left, so not a huge waste, but was still mega stressful!
Am slightly concerned that I'm feeling nothing so far... I'm sure I had twitches in my ovaries last time by now, but I feel nothing, so worried they can't be growing... Tuesdays scan can't come quick enough! X

On phone so can't read the full thread but just wanted to say Wanda yes definitely use textually today. I was told to do that the full time between EC to ET so there's no residue. Good luck!

SilverLinings2014 · 26/03/2017 08:33

Rectally. Damn phone Grin

geeup · 26/03/2017 08:36

Good luck Wanda!

bjonesreborn · 26/03/2017 08:44

I have just had a sudden thought.. I got up this morning to do my suprecur for 7:10am,
the nurse told me I MUST do them at the same time everyday. It's been on my mind so much I've been waking up hourly through the night because I'm scared I'll sleep through!

The clocks have gone forward!!!! This means I did it an hour EARLIER than I did it yesterday! Does this matter? It's only my 2nd day so I'm hoping not too much! I can't ring the clinic as they're closed on a Sunday!

jodybug0908 · 26/03/2017 09:14

I was told that you had a 2 hour window for the injections and that you just had to make sure it was in the same window each day. I was on cetrotide though. Nurse said the one that you have to be precise with is trigger injection xx it might be different for you though but I wouldn't worry xx

Hhno2 · 26/03/2017 09:44

Ozzyboo it's a two hour window! Don't worry xx

Ozzyboo · 26/03/2017 10:21

Thanks Hhno2 & Jodybug0908,
I'll try not to worry, it's done now anyway! Just been frantically googling but can't really find anything! I'll give them a call tomorrow x

Hhno2 · 26/03/2017 13:22

Hobbes forgot to respond thank you! Also don't worry about not feeling much I found that after doing it once it's like your body almost is immune to it all do doesn't feel as sensitive to everything! Don't worry I'm sure it's all doing fine:)
Well I'm Day 4 of tww and woke up having a huge hot flash not sure if that's a good or a bad sign does feeling hot mean anything :/??

Hobbes39 · 26/03/2017 14:06

HHno - thanks - that kind of makes sense...thanks for reassurance! God I hope they are growing...all I feel is a bit grumpy today, not bloated or tender yet... in terms of your hot flash - I think it's probably progesterone symptoms - I hate how they are so similar to pregnancy ones, so it means you never know.... hope it turns out to be a good sign!
Ozzy - I am certain that the clocks changing doesn't matter for down regging or for stims, the only one that matters is the trigger, so don't worry! Xx

I had a 4-hour window for Gonal-F. I was also not told to do anything different with the pessary for ET so I guess it's fine to do 'as normal'!

Hhno2 · 26/03/2017 15:14

Hobbes I think your right! I'm starting to feel really nervous now! 6 days till blood test 😬

Annab1983 · 26/03/2017 17:24

So I had my ET today 🙂 One Day 5 embryo, grade b 🙂 I am so so grateful that this went well but they have 4 other embryos which made it to day 5 which I have to ring back tomorrow to see if any are ok to freeze, am I right in thinking if they don't make the (however it's decided) cut to freeze they will be allowed to perish? Am a bit upset that this may happen but if I had have had a day 3 transfer (as was originally planned) they said they would have transferred potentially 2 then and maybe froze the rest at that stage? I was so happy to get to day 5 as hopefully this bodes well but is this at the expense of 4 other good embryos going to waste, or am I not getting this?? She just didn't sound optimistic about any being ok to freeze tomorrow! Why wouldn't they do this today?
Again I am so happy and grateful to have a day 5 embryo back with me, just traumatised by the whole process and might be overthinking things!

Annab1983 · 26/03/2017 17:33

I know each clinic will have their guidelines for these things but you hear all the time about ladies worrying about slightly disappointing grades etc and then getting BFPs 🙂 so each embryo (that develops ok) has hope and potential to thrive obviously! None of mine were bad quality they just transferred the best one.. so just not understanding the hesitance to freeze any today..

blackcherries · 26/03/2017 18:03

I think they just don't want to say anything today that commits them to anything tomorrow, iyswim! I had similar, although I had 2 they thought were probably ok to freeze and 2 they wanted to wait and see. Ended up that 3 in total were frozen, so obviously one they decided against.

Getting to day 5 is great! Well done on your ET! Easier said than done but talk through it all with them tomorrow and make sure you understand whatever they have decided. Mine told me what they would be looking for (e.g. separation... other terms I can't remember now) so I expect if they don't develop as hoped then they won't have been viable anyway.

Annab1983 · 26/03/2017 18:17

Thank you blackcherries for the reassurance, they just gave me a 30 second spiel about it before ET and I was so nervous so didn't ask anything then! Will have questions and time to talk tomorrow, feel a bit greedy but just feel so invested in those wee embies 😃
