We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Hi Viletta sorry you're joining us. Getting a test result back with bad news is a shock and I hope you and your DH are okay. My DH has low morphology - only 2 then 1% on his first tests. He went on Proxeed Plus and four months later it was 4% and his count and motility had improved too.

It's not a miracle cure but it might help. Take care of yourselves.

justtheonethen · 12/06/2017 20:05

Welcome viletta Smile. Definitely needs a lifestyle change there, it takes 3 months for sperm to change so get him on it now! Is he taking wellman conception vitamins or similar?

I'm feeling really disappointed. Scan showed that there were only 4 follicles (12,13,14 and 15mm) that are of the size they expect by now. Possibly another one but they think it's a cyst Hmm
Feels like a kick in the teeth as my antral follicle count is 16 so I was expecting more.
Dose upped to 300 menopur and rescan weds. Sad

angelazul · 13/06/2017 08:07

Hi viletta welcome. Sorry to hear the results, I'm sure it was a bit of a shock, but some lifestyle changes for your dh could help. Cut out (or down) on smoking & drinking, healthy diet, no hot baths or laptops sitting in lap, and some good supplements

Just sorry it wasn't better news, everything crossed higher dosage helps

AF got me this morning

Viletta · 13/06/2017 10:39

@angelazul @justtheonethen @Jamon thanks for your support, I do appreciate this a lot! I haven't told any of this to anyone yet. It's great to hear that these changes improved the situation for you!

DH has just started taking wellman. I'm trying to cook healthy. But apart of this it feels like the situation is out of my control. I can ask him to stop drinking/smoking, but can't make him. He said he will be trying to reduce booze but might struggle more with smoking

justtheonethen · 13/06/2017 15:30

viletta always here, this group is fab for support.
Does he want a baby? I'm assuming so. In which case he needs to get healthy. Of course he will struggle but tough. I think it's really selfish for a man to refuse to do all they can, especially when the infertility lies with them. My DH struggled still does but he has cut down drinking to less than 3 drinks a week and stopped smoking. Quite frankly I think it's the least he can do as I'm having to to go through injections/hormones/scans and a minor op!

Viletta · 13/06/2017 16:50

@justtheonethen you are so right! Wish he was the one doing opk, etc! He does want a baby. I know sometimes he needs time to absorb things. I will give him space and support for the needed change. He is gutted as most of his friends who maintain similar lifestyle got their babies so quickly and kind of brag about their supper sperm not knowing what we are going through.

bluebird3 · 13/06/2017 20:50

viletta welcome. I'm sorry you've been struggling. It's so hard for dh's when they realise there is an issue. Mine has low count too. This is a really supportive thread so glad you're joining us. Lifestyle changes are really hard...I'm struggling to lose the extra 1-1.5 stone that I really should have shifted to try and help.

AFM...I'm having egg collection in the morning. I have 11 follicles with 8 looking big and 3 smaller. Looking forward to getting this part done with again although last time the worst bit was waiting for the clinic to call with updates and worrying it would be bad news. I just want to fast forward the next two weeks.

just fx the larger dose of stims helps your follies along. But I've been doing a lot of research and I think that you can get really good quality eggs when your body isn't super stressed making loads of eggs. Flowers

Good luck tomorrow blue Smile
I hope you're right, I know it only takes one good one.

viletta DH is the same. It took a while for him to get over the knock of it.

Viletta · 14/06/2017 08:48

@justtheonethen great to know that eventually he got there! I figured DH doesn't drink much liquids at all (if it's not beer haha).. this could count towards low amount of ejaculate.

@bluebird3 1-1,5 stone is not that much! You'll get there. I lost 1,5 stone since November. I really enjoy Intuitive eating techniques. Basically you eat anything you want anytime you want with one condition: you MUST be hungry (not because bored, lunch break, stressed). There is a great book out there about it.

Thanks for all your support, it's priceless!

maplebaby · 14/06/2017 08:53

Ttc #1
Cycle 5 after miscarriage
Ttc over 2 years in total.
Unexplained infertility

Starting IUI between July-august depending on when I receive my letter.

bluebird3 · 14/06/2017 12:58

Thanks everyone.

EC went well. 10 eggs collected all from big follicles. A little disappointed it wasn't more but hopeful for a good fertilisation rate.

villeta I might see if I can find that book. Sounds good. I'm terrible with diets where you deny yourself.

Welcome newbies.

Great news blue Star

Crap news here. Still no more follicles caught up so they are going to collect what there is on Friday. They talked about cancelling and starting again just decided against it. They think that all the tests I've had done might be wrong and my ovarian reserve isn't good after all.
I had more follicles at my baseline appointment than I have now which they are baffled by.

All in all a bit shit and I'm fed up.

bluebird3 · 14/06/2017 15:30

I'm sorry just. That's so disappointing. Are you NHS or self funded? You only need one so we'll all keep our fx for you. Try your best to stay positive (as hard as it is). More eggs is no guarantee of a better outcome as evidenced by my 18 collected last time. And I've seen plenty on here who get a bfp with 3-4 eggs collected. FlowersFlowers

OP posts:
geeup · 14/06/2017 15:38

Really sorry to hear that just but as blue says, quantity is definitely no guarantee of a good outcome. Be kind to yourself. The fact they're going ahead with it means there's a decent shot there. Will keep everything crossed for you.

angelazul · 14/06/2017 15:59

Sorry it's not better news just sending some pma your way.

Blue keeping everything crossed for you.

Welcome alletrix & love.

Have horrendous cramps & pelvic pain, left work early & I'm laid up in bed with a hot water bottle & painkillers. AF has never been anywhere near this bad before so I've booked a GP appointment. Probably over-reacting, but better to be safe than sorry.

Viletta · 14/06/2017 17:09

@justtheonethen oh no! Sounds terrible.. persistence is key, you'll get there! FX for you

ScottishJaggyNettle · 14/06/2017 17:51

Hi to all the newbies! [waves]

Viletta Be sneeky and give him an alcohol free beer and see if he can tell the diffrence. Might just be a good compromise ? Always worth a try.

Just Flowers Fingers are crossed.

Hope every one is well ... sorry i have been lurking and not posting for a while. Smile

justtheonethen · 14/06/2017 19:12

Thanks all. I know it only takes one but I am gutted. We are NHS so most likely will lose the two frozen cycles as unlikely to have anything to freeze.
Trying to be positive but it's just not what I expected with an antral count of 16.

viletta Scottish reminded me that I swapped DH's coffee for decaf. He hasn't noticed Wink

justtheonethen · 14/06/2017 19:12

angel sounds horrid. Hope you feel better soon
