We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Hooray gee that's great news. Good luck for your appointment and getting going!

bluebird3 · 13/02/2017 08:07

tea that's great that yours are all progressing so well. Fx you have several front runners to freeze as well as one to nestle in. Are they transferring 1 or 2 back in?

gee congrats on moving forward. Sorry you didn't get a last minute miracle Bfp. I'd been hoping to be one of those anecdotal stories where people get Bfp right before starting IVF. But IVF isn't so bad so far. What protocol are you on? Good luck with everything.

I have a scan tomorrow. Just praying that things are progressing nicely.

star if you're still around Hope you're ok. It's so sucky you've had to carry on with the injections this round. Are you nearly done? I've been thinking about you. Flowers

Good luck with the scan tomorrow bluebird. I don't know what protocol I'm on yet - implications appointment not till next week - but assuming I'm on long.

TeaAnd0ranges · 13/02/2017 20:49

Good luck with scan blue even if things aren't progressing as thought, they can up your dose tomorrow if needs be so try not to worry!

I get to talk to embryologist tomorrow about how many to transfer. I really want two but as I'm under 35 it might be a flat refusal. Legally (not sure if that's the right word) I can have two but my clinic are really strict with the HFEA one at a time policy so I dont know. Having two transferred only increases chances of pregnancy by 1% but I feel like I may need that 1%! And I would love to have twins!

What is everyone else going to do when the time comes?

star let us know how you are doing. I hope the injections you are on aren't too bad.

ScottishThistle123 · 13/02/2017 21:33

I thought that in the UK you were only allowed one transfer. It would be fantastic if they let you have two Smile . Is there any reason as to why they only allow one. I understand multiple births can be dangerous but i would have assumed that would be 2> babies.

Things are getting exciteing for you ladies Grin. Im still here hovering learning from your experiences and wishing you well. Not long left now fingers crossed for BFP's !!!. Bear

TeaAnd0ranges · 13/02/2017 21:58

Hey thistle policy is under 35 a max of two eggs transferred and over 35 is either two or three as egg quality tends to be lower then. Twins is counted as multiple with all the risks associated but I think they worry about those eggs dividing further and the potential for 3 or even 4 babies with two eggs is higher with IVF. Apparently eggs transferred at blastocyst stage (day 5) have a higher chance of dividing so even one egg could end up as two babies! There's this 'one at a time' policy which is pretty interesting to read about.

I think the two week wait is going to be the worst of the whole process!!

geeup · 14/02/2017 07:46

Very interested as to whether you're allowed two tea as I feel exactly the same that I'd want two but my consultant clearly told us at the first appointment and in the follow up letter to my doctor that he will be recommending one blast or two day 3s (if they're not doing well). Really want two blasts!!

bluebird3 · 14/02/2017 11:25

Hi everyone. My clinic said the same as yours gee. 1 if good quality...maybe 2 if not so good. I actually know someone who had 2 transferred, both stuck and one split. So se has triplets...2 identical and 1 not.

My scan went okay I think. Right ovary doing well with 12 follicles developing. Biggest was 17, then 2 at 15, and several 12-14. Left ovary not so good...only 5 follicles and biggest was 13. I'm going back tomorrow to see how they grow with egg collection on Friday or sat. Sat would be really awkward or DH as he's on shift as hospital as the senior doctor so he's trying to sort something. He will have to come but may have to drop me back home after. Fx TVs grow plenty overnight and ec can be Friday.

Good luck with your transfer tea. Let me know how it is.

Thanks for cheering us on thistle!

Transfer went well. ptera they would only put one back in due to my age, good quality of the embryo being transferred and it being a blastocyst rather than a day 3 transfer. Dr also said it's better to do one now and have more cycles with the frozen ones as overall I've got a better chance than putting all my eggs in one basket Grin. I'm a bit disappointed as I do think it's my body and my choice but I wasn't about to argue with my legs wide open in stirrups and I guess the doctor knows best!

I've got two good ones to freeze too and might have 2 more developed enough by tomorrow to freeze but i think it's unlikely. Glad I've got another (much cheaper) cycle to use if needed though!

Glad your scan went ok blue. I guess it doesn't matter which side the eggs are collected from though does it and follicles can grow an awful lot before Friday or Sat. Let us know how your scan goes tomorrow and fingers crossed for e/c on Friday!

geeup · 14/02/2017 21:44

Congrats tea. You're officially PUPO!!

bluebird3 · 14/02/2017 21:58

Brilliant tea! That's so great you are blast-on-board and have some to freeze. I really hope I have some as I think if will feel less pressured. Can't really control I though, can we?

bluebird3 · 15/02/2017 14:15

Oh dear...reading through my posts there are so many typos! I should be better at proofreading.

I've had a call...my trigger shot is tonight and ec Friday morning. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

OP posts:
TeaAnd0ranges · 15/02/2017 18:18

gee what is PUPO?!

Hooray for egg collection on Friday blue you get the weekend to recover and DH not working on Fri - perfect! Fingers crossed you get some to freeze as well but like you said, it's out of our control and one good embryo to implant might be all you all need! Have you been told take your dressing gown and slippers? Good luck!

bluebird3 · 15/02/2017 19:01

Yes... I have been told to take dressing gown and slippers. Did you use yours? I'm dreading going in with no make up. I have terrible spots from the drugs. My dh is outraged he can't wear aftershave!

And PUPO means pregnant until proved otherwise. How are you getting on with the waiting? When is your OTD?

OP posts:
TeaAnd0ranges · 15/02/2017 19:19

Oooh I like that blue and gee 😀

I was glad to have my dressing gown! I had to buy one specially but glad I did. The hospital gown was quite gappy and it's a walk from recovery/waiting bay to theatre and you aren't wearing any pants! Slippers were nice to keep cosy in and walk to theatre in. I'm not sure what your clinic is like but everyone having ec arrived at the same time so you could potentially have a long wait. I arrived at 7.45 and only went in at 11.30 so it's a long time to wait in a hospital gown that doesn't really cover your bum very well otherwise.

Waiting is ok. Work is busy but it's always at the back of my mind and one day has felt like a lifetime! Due to test on 27 Feb. Trying to be philosophical about it all in a what will be will be kind of way but it's so hard not to imagine the future.

maplebaby · 15/02/2017 19:47

Hi all!

Hooray for being PUPO tea! Fingers crossed and hope you have lots to keep you busy until OTD. My clinic seem strict with the transferring 2 as well.

Great that you're able to get started now gee!

Blue glad EC is on Friday like you wanted! Good luck with the trigger!

Hope everyone else is hanging in there.

I have absolutely nothing to report - 2 weeks to go until my consultant appointment. Really hoping I can book in my protocol appointment after and get going!

Whereland · 15/02/2017 20:30

I just managed my first injection Grin you'd swear we were preparing for surgery the precision with which it was all set up!! Then realised how straightforward it actually is.. anyone had side effects from purogen?

maplebaby · 15/02/2017 20:49

Well done where! The first is always the worst!

geeup · 15/02/2017 21:16

Well done where! And very excited for you blue. Hope you're having a very chilled one tea with your valentine emby!

geeup · 15/02/2017 21:17

Where is everyone based (without being too identifying!). I'm in the south east so going to Victoria Wing in Woking.

Whereland · 15/02/2017 21:57

I'm in Ireland so rather far away from all of you!

maplebaby · 15/02/2017 22:28

I'm in London Smile

TeaAnd0ranges · 16/02/2017 07:22

Well done where - first injection completed!

I'm up north Smile

star1980 · 16/02/2017 12:12

Hello ladies, exciting times for lots of you!
Tea, congrats on being pupo!!! That is amazing you have some frozen (how many was it again?) and a good looking one on board, you must be over the moon! How are you getting on with the tww? It's great that work is busy, must make it easier.

And good luck with egg collection tomorrow blue! How many follicles did you have at last scan do you know? Do you have a target number you're hoping for?

Welcome where and congrats on the first jab. The first definitely takes some working up to, but you'll be fine from here on in. Do you know what protocol you're on?

I'm in London, having treatment at King's College Hospital.

Thanks for asking after me ladies. I'm fine now - the bloating' going down and I had my last downright injection yesterday and I have three more nights of progesterone then I should have a period shortly after and hopefully 2 normal cycles before going again. Next appointment 21 March to discuss protocol. Sorry I've been awol, I've been absolutely fine but just getting on with life outside infertility which is novel!

Maple, Gee, do you have any idea when you might get going?

maplebaby · 16/02/2017 13:04

Glad you're alright star and bloating is going down. Life outside infertility? What's that?
No idea when I'll start, sigh. Have my consultant appointment 2 weeks today - I'm hoping we can get going not long after that but I suspect it looks more like April or May now.
