We have relocated from the conception board where we were previously chatting under the thread 'ttc for 10 months or more'. A lot of us are now long term ttc-ers and are going through infertility treatment or looking to take steps in this direction so we feel this might be a more suitable home for us!

Feel free to stop by and say hi and hopefully we can share the journey together and make it a little easier along the way!

Good to hear from you star. Glad you've been getting on and focusing on other things.

At the scan Tuesday I had 17 follicles. And most were 12-15. Was scanned again Wednesday. Guessing they must have grown enough for them to go ahead with the ec on Friday.

Well done with the first injection where. I found it the hardest, but the days soon go by quickly. Didn't have to inject this morning and it was amazing. :)

Forgot to say Im hoping to have 12 but will just have to see. I'm getting a bit nervous about it now. Don't think I'll sleep well tonight!

Glad you're ok star and that you're starting to feel 'normal' again

I've got two frozen which is reassuring. Finding the wait difficult. Worried about every movement I do and had to move some tables and a big screen at work today by myself and I'm just stressing that something silly like that I do will ruin my chances! Think it's the worst bit of the whole process although I didn't like ec much!

TeaAnd0ranges · 17/02/2017 10:46

Hope everything goes well today blue. Thinking of you Flowers

bluebird3 · 17/02/2017 13:47

Thanks tea. We got 18. I'm pleased but also hoping quality won't be too effected with that many. 15 were from the right ovary...quite sore on that side. I'm laid on the sofa now so going to enjoy a lazy afternoon and evening. Smile

Congratulations blue! 18 is amazing! When I asked about quality, when I was about to do egg collection and I had 30 follicles, they just said the more the better as you'll have a drop off at each stage. So what I took from that is that i shouldn't worry!

Oh Tea, I can imagine what the worry must be like Flowers Good luck getting through the next week or so! I'm 100% sure moving a table will not affect things one bit.

geeup · 17/02/2017 16:28

Wow blue. That's a great haul of eggs! Well done!

TeaAnd0ranges · 17/02/2017 16:36

Excellent news blue that is quite the haul!! You only need one good quality one and hopefully some to freeze so surely the more the better?
Enjoy lazing and take it easy this weekend!

maplebaby · 17/02/2017 17:03

Great news blue - glad you are just chilling now and have the weekend too - take it easy and fingers crossed for the first call! Will you hear tomorrow?

bluebird3 · 17/02/2017 17:51

Thanks everyone. I should get a phone call tomorrow to discuss how many fertilised and whether it looks like a 3 day transfer (Monday) or 5 day (Wednesday). Hopefully at least one will make it to blast and I'd love to have some to freeze. Just hoping for 1 though and anything else will be a bonus. Feeling quite sore but it's not horrible. I can't really believe I had ec today. Even though it's been 2 years ttc it still seems surreal this is what is happening.

pteradactyl · 17/02/2017 19:58

Really exciting news blue!! That is a good haul. Wishing you all the luck for your call tomorrow

bluebird3 · 18/02/2017 08:59

Hi everyone. I got my phone call. Of the 18 they were able to inject 11. Of those 9 fertilised. I know that's still a good number but bit freaked out I've gone from 18 to 9 overnight. Hoping those little embryos grow grow grow. I'll get a call on Monday to update but they expect we would transfer on Wednesday if everything goes to plan.

pteradactyl · 18/02/2017 10:10

maplebaby · 18/02/2017 13:21

Hooray blue! Fingers crossed for Monday! 9 is a great number to have!

sk1pper · 18/02/2017 14:27

Hi everyone,

I'm tentatively joining mainly because I need to learn more about IVF. I've just passed the 18 month mark TTC#1 and feeling very down in the dumps about it all. I have "unexplained infertility", and am having my next appointment with my gynaecologist end of April to get the ball rolling with IVF. I've gone into every test and medical situation having the foresight and knowledge I need to make informed decisions (MN is an absolute god send) and I'm hoping I can get that kind of support here too.

Obviously I can't offer a huge amount of advice being a complete newbie to the world of infertility but I hope I can provide emotional support and a sounding board for those of you going through the various stages.

I notice a few familiar faces here too, Geeup and Bluebird - sorry you're here but really comforting to see you continuing your journeys with the strength you've always shown xx

Tea i have had a wee read of a report for the "one at a time rule" I was honestly in shock. It said that for twins in a IVF pregnancy it is six times the risk of Cerebral Palsy. Bad birth weights, gestational diabetes. I knew about premature(ity) (not sure thats even a word) and so low birth weights but the rest was a complete shock. Your right it was a good read I understand why they do it now.

The URL just incase anyone wants to read.

Blue 9 is Fantastic ! Hope all goes well on the monday update. Grin

Sk1pper Hello Again. This is a good thread to be on. I have learned alot and the ladies here are lovely Smile

Emilyxeliza · 18/02/2017 16:48

Hello everyone..

I'm a newbie so be kind Wink and trying for our first!

TTC for at least 18 months (which failed after various surgeries etc) and now I'm on 1st cycle of clomid (last tablet today!) - I'm 26 and only have Endometriosis.
No major effects from the clomid to be honest, just a bit angry and sweaty 😂!
Really hoping I catch a BFP within the next 3 cycles of clomid... i feel like such a failure not being able to get pregnant naturally! Blush

Emilyxeliza · 18/02/2017 16:52

Forgot to mention the crucial part! If I don't catch within 3 months of clomid, my consultant wants to go down the IVF route, which is terrifying for me. (I have a good consultant though!)

TeaAnd0ranges · 18/02/2017 17:17

Welcome emily and skipper

thistle it's frightening isn't it but I must admit it didn't stop me wanting twins!! I would be over the moon with one obviously though.

blue 9 fertilised is egg-cellent Grin I had 12 eggs, 9 fertilised and 3 ended up being good enough so if you get one that will be fab and any to freeze is a total bonus. It is pretty scary that so many don't make it but I guess that's why they like to collect lots to counteract those that won't cooperate. Try not to worry this weekend (I know!!!) the embryos are doing their thing and are in the best hands. Best of luck for your next update!

bluebird3 · 18/02/2017 17:43

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm just hoping that I have a couple to freeze like you tea. It would be great to have a couple of tries before having to do a full fresh cycle again. Plus we get up to 4 frozen gos on the NHS. After that we will have to start paying privately.

Welcome skipper and emily. It's a shame you find yourself here but we are happy to have you. Everyone is really supportive and lovely and if you do have to end up going down the IVF route it's so helpful to have people to talk to who understand. And I was really scared of IVF too, but it's completely doable and not as bad as I thought.

sk1pper · 18/02/2017 21:59

Oh hey to you too Thistle :)

geeup · 19/02/2017 11:11

Welcome skipper and Emily. Sorry you find yourself here but as you're finding, at least you'll find some genuinely caring support here for the hand we've all be dealt. It might not be the way any of us planned to have a baby but thank god for science hey!
Well done blue. One day at a time - I won't say the classic "it only takes one" but rest assured there's still loads of chances in those little Petri dishes and keep those positive thoughts going. You'll have one on board any day.

geeup · 19/02/2017 11:13

Skipper - happy to talk you through the early days if you do go down the ivf route. I'm still early days. Had the first consultation and this week I have my implications appointment (where they talk about what happens, the ethics and decisions you'll face etc). Then if that all goes ok I'll start down regging in around ten days (start the injections to switch of pituitary gland that makes your hormones). Then it's stims to grow the eggs, egg collection and then IVF or ICSI then hopefully the transfer.

sk1pper · 19/02/2017 11:20

Geeup - thats really kind of you, I'm going to read all your updates as you go through the process. I'm...nervous about it but my need to have a baby greatly outweighs any implications. I dread to ask, but where do they do the injections?
