Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Hobbes fingers crossed for you today

Sara congratulations on being PUPO!

Hope hang in there

glasshalfsomething · 01/12/2016 09:36

hobbs I was a day 2 transfer- disappointed me to begin with, but it worked!

blue such good news ! Congratulations!!

Good luck today LoPI

liberte glad to hear it's all going in the right direction for you!

Hope I know exactly what you mean about the anxiety and negativity, I was the same.

Haven't read back much further but thinking good thoughts for every one of you ladies.

Hobbes39 · 01/12/2016 10:17

Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm just off the call, not particularly great news again. Both have survived, but aren't great quality (on a scale of 4 being top, 1 being poor, mine are grade 2). So we are going to have both put back in today. Embryologist gave me percentage chance and it's not great. So all in all this has been a v depressing cycle for me and I can't say I'm holding out much hope for 2 weeks time, but there's a v small chance. Hope everyone else has better luck xxx

Blueroses99 · 01/12/2016 10:33

Hi Hobbes, stay positive, a lot of clinics have stopped grading Day 3 embryos because it's very subjective/inaccurate so many only grade Day 5 blasts - but even then a high grade doesn't guarantee pregnancy and a lower grade can work! Also the stats were v low in my last round when I had 2 implanted and it worked. So best of luck!

Glass good to hear from you, where are you up to now with scans etc?

LoPI good luck today.

I've been to the GP and been referred for pregnancy booking in, Early Pregnancy Unit for dating scan and Pre-term Clinic. Doctor was quite laid back saying I was so early that I might not hear from them for a few weeks, until I pointed out that the consultant wanted to see me at 7wks which is the week before Christmas and if I waited til January I would be 10wks (slight exaggeration/mathematical error) so I needed the referrals asap.

Hobbes39 · 01/12/2016 13:24

Good luck today LoPI - hope it all goes well x
AFM - I now have 2 little embies on board... fingers crossed one of them sticks! X

glasshalfsomething · 01/12/2016 18:54

hobbes excited that you've got them on board! Let the wait begin Hmm

blue had a private scan last Thursday and Sam the bean, beating heart and all. NHS scan tomorrow AM so hoping to see the correct amount of growth. To be honest, don't think I'll ever relax about the next stage, regardless of what it is! Nice logic reasoning with your doc!

LoPl · 01/12/2016 19:39

Hi all,

Am curled up on couch with hot water bottle. They got 8 today, which they seemed pleased with given that two more little follies came up with the goods after all. They are hoping for day 3 or day 5 transfer depending on how tonight goes. I have all my fingers and toes crossed. Also went out like a light - according to the anaesthetist I'm somewhat of a lightweight!
Hobbes - yay for your two on board. Here's hoping.

Waves to everyone else (and now back to Netflix)

Blueroses99 · 01/12/2016 19:53

Hobbes great that you've got them both on board. Thinking sticky thoughts for you.

Glass that's lovely but you're right about the scanxiety lingering. How far along were you when you first heard the heartbeat? My first scan is at 6+2 and I feel like it might be too soon? (I waited til 7+2 last time)

LoPI well done, hoping they do well overnight. Keeping everything crossed too.

Hope2409 · 01/12/2016 20:53

hobbes great news that u have 2 on board, try and stay positive, u have a good chance and thats the main thing!

LoPI fingers crossed they do well overnight, get plenty of rest xx

glass great news about your scan, really hope i will get to experience that too one day! Look after yourself x

blue sounds like things will be moving along quickly for u, well done on telling the doc!

Hobbes- thinking of you and your twosome - I felt down too when I got the lowest grade but as others have said its pretty arbitrary as its the chromosomes that count and there's no way they can predict them. Chin up!
Lopi - great result well done you! Rest up!
Hope - you're half way into 2 ww nearly there!
AFM - one out of 3 slow one made it to blast on day 6 and was frozen today. Can't believe it truly didn't expect that. Only thing is, it sounds like it was better than the one put back yesterday and now its in the deep freeze ! Hey ho x c

Hobbes39 · 02/12/2016 08:20

Morning all
Thank you for all your encouraging thoughts, it really helps and sorry I've been a doom merchant! Am trying to stay positive now as nothing I can do about it all after all.
Well done LoPI that's a brilliant harvest - hope you are feeling ok today and get good news on fertilisation.
Sara that's fantastic news about your Frostie! Well done xx
Good luck for your scan glass - I suspect that it's pretty impossible to be properly relaxed about a pregnancy after going through so much to get there - but try to as much as you can x
Hope - I can tell this is going to be a very very long couple of weeks, hang in there, you've not long now, half way there xx
Hi anyone I've missed xx

Custardandcream · 02/12/2016 09:31

Blue well done on being strong with the Dr

Hobbes I have everything crossed for you

LoPI fingers crossed you had lots of fertilisation over night

Sara congratulations on your frozen one

Glass good luck with the scan

LoPl · 02/12/2016 11:43

Hey all, mixed emotions. Just got the call. Out of 8, 6 were mature but only 2 fertilised. Was really hoping for more than this, and when the embryologist came on and said " I have good news for you" - of course, I assumed we had a good handful and would maybe be going to 5 days.... not to be... booked in for Sunday. Here's hoping that these two are the bees knees though!

Quick question - I only remembered by pessary at 11:30 last night, and the nurse said to keep the times 12 hours apart. Do you think this is OK, given that ET will be at 10.30? What times are you all at?

Blueroses99 · 02/12/2016 13:35

Hi LoPI, that won't matter at this stage, just try to keep as close to 12 hours after ET if you can but it's not a strict thing. My first clinic just said first thing in the morning, last thing at night, which meant it was never quite 12 hours. My current routine is 10am (at work) and 10pm (at home) give or take an hour either side. Well done on your 2 fertilised embryos- good news that you're booked in for a Sunday transfer xx

Hobbes39 · 02/12/2016 13:43

Hi LoPI - I totally understand why you are disappointed - your embryologist was either a bit insensitive to say what he did, or your embryos must be looking good, especially if they are booking you in for Sunday rather than tomorrow. I know from mine that they didn't want to wait for 3dt, just wanted to get them back in ASAP as they weren't that great quality. Hang on in there, I think this period you are in is harder than any, but will keep everything crossed. Re pessaries - I'm on gel, once a day and they aren't too worried about when as I was told to delay on day of ET and just take it after, but first thing the rest of the time... but may be different with yours xx

LoPl · 02/12/2016 14:07

Thanks Blue and Hobbes - your words of reassurance mean a lot. Yes, that waiting game is hard. I hadn't quite anticipated this part of the process - steep learning curve! Off to find some distractions this afternoon. xx

Blueroses99 · 02/12/2016 14:31

I found the time between EC and ET the hardest not knowing what was happening in the lab. Distractions are the best idea!

Hobbes39 · 02/12/2016 20:43

A quick question - apologies for TMI - but did anyone else feel kind of bruised down in their 'bits' after ET?
I don't know if it's because I found ET quite uncomfortable due to going to town on the full bladder thing (I was SO full, and hurt so badly from wanting to pee - had to rush to the toilet immediately after transfer and I must have peed for a full 30 seconds!!) or if it's due to having the collection and transfer only 2 days apart so I'm just a bit battered down there, but I'm slightly worried it's kind of cramping, but it feels more bruised than cramps?? Or is it just me?! Confused

Hope2409 · 02/12/2016 22:01

hobbes i still felt a bit bruised and sore from EC when i went back for ET, it took a couple of days to feel back to myself again.

loPI it is a steep learning curve, i thought finishing the injections and getting to EC would be easier but it has been the hardest bit, its so up and down and unknown! I have to do my pessaries 3 times a day, morning afternoon and before bed. Well done on your fertilised 2 and all the best for your transfer sunday xx

I am 7dp3dt and doing ok, had some cramping type feelings today and felt like i might be spotting but everytime i go to the loo nothing is there. Trying not to worry as its out of my control but easier said than done!

Sara237 · 03/12/2016 08:50

Hobbes - yes its normal to feel tender its all pretty invasive even when it all goes smoothly. Hang on in there!
Lopi- I think the bit between ec and et is a nightmare... Thinking of you and good luck for tomorrow.
Hope - nearly there! How have you passed the time? God its dragging and I'm only 3dp5dt think will do Xmas stuff this weekend to try and focus on something else. I keep checking for implantation bleed too.
Is anyone else using crinone pessaries? Tmi but they do back up and I don't know if I am meant to be removing the gunk or not. Sorry guys!
Have nice weekend x

Hope2409 · 03/12/2016 09:15

sara the time is dragging really slowly! I went back to work this last week so just tried to stay busy with that. Its DH birthday today so we are off out and im hoping the first half of next week goes quick. Im so tempted to test early but my DH doesnt want me to and dont want to go behind his back so just got to wait!!!
When is your OTD? We will be testing around the same time wont we as yrs was a 5dt?
Im not sure with your pessaries im on utrogestan ones and they arent too bad!
I still feel a bit weird and crampy/achy today but trying to ignore it!!

Custardandcream · 03/12/2016 10:50

LoPI I have everything crossed for your two embryos, I agree this point is the worst, keep yourself busy today

Hobbes I think it's normal to be a bit sore after ET, especially close to EC, take care of yourself

Hope hope you have a nice day with DH

Sara it's totally the longest 2 weeks, I'm on a different pessary which is a bit gunky but I've not been told to remove it

Blueroses99 · 04/12/2016 14:14

LoPI hope your ET goes/went well today xx

LoPl · 04/12/2016 14:20

Hi all, thanks again for all the lovely reassurance and advice re pessaries. I read the thread yesterday and it got me in a much better frame of mind for ET this morning. Feeling good today - happy that my two embies are now on board! One is looking very good, and the other a little more 'raggedy' - so Drs said best place for them both was now in me. Let the 2ww commence!

Have a good Sunday everyone. xx

EvieBetty · 04/12/2016 17:08

Hi ladies,

Hope you have had a lovely weekend.

We had our 2nd ICSI in June that failed and I had 2 frozen day 5 embryos, which we transferred both on 29th. 4AB and 4AA. So I'm 5dp5dt. Had slight cramping 3dp and tiny blood, light bleeding yesterday and lots of cramping, light bleeding again today 5dp transfer.

Had a really weird week, sickness bug on Monday that lasted less than 12 hours with no temperature. Hospital were happy to go ahead as hadn't been sick for 24 hours or had temp. But I thought we were going to have to cancel. Then on Friday I had a near miss as I'm severely allergic to nuts and even though I had checked my dinner had almonds in it and I noticed after a mouthful, but luckily no allergic reaction. I was in the middle of no where with a hospital 30 mins away, drove myself in case but no symptoms so never stepped into a&e in the end.

I went to a boots and stocked up on cheap tests, I am also an early tester. Can't help myself...

previous cycles my period has come late in the day on 9dpt, never this early. Is this implantation bleeding? If it is, what does it mean... am I crazy to think this is positive?

Xx
