Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Thank you loPI and sara i'm glad its not just me. I have found the past week and a half has particularly taken its toll so i guess it is just all catching up with me, i think i just hoped i would feel better after ET!
We found out today that our remaining embryos werent good enough to be frozen, they made it to day 5 but not good enough quality, think that bothered me more than i realised too!
I want to try and be positive and bond with my embryos but i'm frightened if i do and then it doesnt work i will be more crushed!
Gosh this is one crazy journey isnt it!!

Good luck Hobbes!

Hobbes39 · 28/11/2016 22:24

Blue - just caught up with today's messages and that's v good news! V exciting, am now keeping everything crossed for you too x
Thanks all for reassurance - and Hope it's definitely not just you, I'm all over the place with emotions through this, it just feels so hard to get a happy medium between keeping a positive attitude and setting yourself up for a fall... hang in there x

So tomorrow is my big day, am bricking it. I'm not religious at all but I've suddenly started having words with him upstairs asking if he can please make sure I have decent eggs in my follicles. I'm not sure that it will make any difference, but clearly I'm getting desperate / going mad....Grin
hi to everyone else - if I'm not on again until then, good luck with transfer in Wednesday sara, and also EC LoPI - fingers crossed its a good week for us all xxx

Custardandcream · 29/11/2016 08:50

Good luck for today Hobbes

Hope the way you are feeling is perfectly normal and to be honest I still feel that way!

My scan date is 19th, it feels like absolutely ages away

Hobbes39 · 29/11/2016 13:43

On way back from EC - they got 5 eggs - they didn't say how many mature etc, just 5. Feeling v woozy, bur not in pain, so am ok, just exhausted.
Nurse talked about a day 2 or 3 transfer, no one has mentioned a day 2 one to me before, I guess it's cos my numbers are low and they don't rate my chances. Feel a bit numb and reigned now. Really need some good news tomorrow - so keep fingers crossed that fertilisation rate is high! X

Hobbes39 · 29/11/2016 13:44

Resigned, not reigned!

LoPl · 29/11/2016 14:27

Hobbes - well done on your 5 eggs. I hope they are good uns - sending positive vibes their way. 2, 3 and 5 day transfers are all mentioned in the info the clinic gave me - if that offers any reassurance. Glad you're not in pain Get some rest now. xx

... I'm gearing up for trigger tonight....

Blueroses99 · 29/11/2016 14:45

Well done Hobbes! Day 2 transfer doesn't mean they don't rate your chances, it just means if there are one or two, they will pop them back in you sooner - it'll be the best place for them - if there's more they will mature them for another day to be able to choose between them (as UK clinics aren't allowed to transfer more than 2 unless exceptional circumstances). Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

LoPI good luck with the trigger shot tonight!

Hobbes39 · 29/11/2016 18:02

Good luck with trigger LoPI & thanks for positive vibes. I have a feeling tomorrow will be a v difficult day for me, but need to try remain hopeful.
Today was such a stressful day, with my DS being unwell I couldn't take him to nursery, so had a mad dash across town to get him to my friend's house to look after while we had op. Got stuck in rush hour traffic and was so stressed by time reached hospital! Had a nice sleep this afternoon though and feeling a bit better.
Good luck tomorrow Sara with ET.
Hi everyone else xx

Hobbes39 · 29/11/2016 18:05

Just remember what I meant to ask - am scared (if we do get there) about transferring more than one - my DH family has a history of twins... while I'm scared of twins, as long as they are healthy I don't mind, but I'm petrified of triplets... did everyone do a single embryo transfer or has anyone gone with 2? X

Sara237 · 29/11/2016 18:26

Hobbes - I am only allowed single transfer due to my health authority. To be honest, i wish I could have two put back as I'm 39 so stats are rubbish. I know about the risks and concerns but I still look at it as a way to improve odds. Its a tough one though. Sounds like you had nightmare day. I don't know how were meant to stay calm with all this!
Lopi - that seems to have come round quickly. Nearly there now! Is ec Thur?
AFM - feel sick to be honest - terrified well get there and they'll tell us we have zero to transfer. I dream about this shit omg would they phone us if that was the case? Eek!

Hobbes39 · 29/11/2016 19:19

Aw, Sara - try not to worry, 7 embryos making it this far is brilliant, so I'm sure you will have at least one to chose from tomorrow. I understand the feeling sick thing - I was this morning with nerves too. It's a shit process isn't it? I'm 39 too and hate how old they make me feel at every appointment.. never felt so depressed about getting older! Good luck & hope you have a decent night's sleep this eve xxx

Blueroses99 · 29/11/2016 19:23

Hobbes do you mean history of identical twins or fraternal? If identical i.e. embryos splitting, you might want to make the clinic aware as this probably does increase the chances of triplets/quads!! If non-identical, I don't believe your odds of multiples is increased as that's down to multiple ovulation in a single month. I had one transferred as I can't risk twins with my cervix condition but otherwise had 2 in previous cycles.

sara good luck tomorrow, yes I think they would call if there was a big problem.

liberte12 · 29/11/2016 20:04

Congratulations Blue Kez & Custard !

Great news!

Sorry I haven't been on, had a crappy time with the whole cyst business. I had an appointment on Friday to see if it had gone and I went into it thinking of course its still going to be there. I expected to come out knowing I wasn't going to be able to take the drugs I have in my kitchen drawer until next year but then the nurse said it had disappeared!

So she said stop taking the pill and when you come on, give us a call to let us know you are starting as long as it is before the 1st Dec. So AF came last night and I am having my first injection tonight!

Question - does it matter that my bleed is relatively lighter than usual? I am presuming this is because it will be a withdrawal bleed because they made me take microgynon while I was getting scanned to see if the cyst had gone but should I be worried about this?
Also I have completely forgotten how to do the injection considering the nurse showed me back at the beginning of October.

I am also going to join the other thread as I feel that I am way behind you guys now so good luck to you all. If you have any tips for me re the above I would really appreciate it. Thanks very much.

Blueroses99 · 29/11/2016 21:54

That's great news Liberte! You're probably right about it being lighter because it's a withdrawal bleed. Which drug are you taking? I found YouTube videos really helpful, but also menopur have some in their own website for different doses. Wishing you lots and lots of luck xx

Hope2409 · 29/11/2016 22:13

hobbes sorry to hear u had such a stressful day. I had 2 embryos transferred on day 3, we only had 2 clear front runners on day 3 so they recommended we have them both transferred. I was/am worried about the risk of multiples but the chance of overall success was better having them both put back. My clinic pack also lists day 2 transfer as an option if its whats right for yr situation. Look after yourself try to think positive, i know its hard but try xxx

sara good luck for tomorrow, stay positive im sure they would of called if there was a problem x

loPI good luck with your trigger shot, not long now!

liberte lovely to have u bck and thats great news on the cyst, bet yr pleased to be starting this side of christmas, wishing u lots of luck x

Hobbes let us know how it goes today, good luck if you have ET today.

Sara good luck for ET for you.

LoPI hope you got on with the trigger shot ok and are all set for EC tomorrow.

Hope how are you finding the 2ww? When is your OTD?

Sending positive vibes to all...

AFM it's my OTD today, the lines on the FR have got darker everyday and there is a definite 'Pregnant 2-3 weeks' on the clear blue digital from the clinic, so it's official! I am booked in for a scan on 14th December. I also need to get into the NHS system pretty quick as I need to get a cervical stitch arranged and the consultant advised that I get a referral to the EPU because of my history.

Custardandcream · 30/11/2016 10:28

Blue congratulations!

Hobbes fingers crossed for your call today

LoPI hope the trigger shot went ok

Sara good luck for today

Liberte that's great news, good luck with your cycle

LoPl · 30/11/2016 10:37

Yay Blue - super news.
Hobbes - hope your call went well. Thinking of you.
Sara - good luck with ET.

AFM, trigger shot done last night. And I'm quite tender now - twinges, boobs v. heavy that kind of thing. Also hilariously emotional....

Quite nervous about EC now (how painful is it again?) - booked in for tomorrow mid morning.

Hobbes39 · 30/11/2016 11:16

LoPI - for me egg collection wasn't too bad - possibly cos I didn't have a lot to collect, I'm sure the extra rummaging for more eggs might make it worse, but I was heavily enough sedated that I don't remember a thing of the op and I only needed some paracetamol afterwards to be fine. I'm a tiny bit bloated today, but not much. Don't worry & good luck x
AFM - luck isn't on our side it seems, out of 5, 4 fertilised, but of those only 2 did so properly, so there are only 2 on the running for me. Will find out tomorrow if we have any left and if transfer will be tomorrow or Friday. I need something to go our way soon, so I'm hoping that the next few stages will! X

LoPl · 30/11/2016 16:24

Thanks for the words of reassurance Hobbes. That's really helpful to know. The nurse did give me a pain relief suppository to take first thing tomorrow morning before I head in for EC... oh, the joys!

Try not to worry to much about your numbers. You have 2 in the running and, as everyone keeps saying, it only takes 1! Here's hoping they develop nicely overnight you get that positive phonecall tomorrow morning! xx

Sara237 · 30/11/2016 16:43

Blue - congrats! Great news for you and Mr blue!
Lopi - ec is fine - don't panic!
Hobbes- that's super scarey for you hope the time passes more quickly - I am thinking of you and have everything crossed!
AFM - had transfer today. Like last time we only had 1 blast - and it was a 4c so not great which of course made me cry. But what I wasn't expecting was there another 3 that they said may be about to be blasts so they will look at them tomorrow and if they are good enough, will freeze them. I don't hold out any hope as we don't tend to get good looking embryos! But I know its what they can't see that matters and they stressed that a perfect blast might result in bfn and ours might take. .. So trying to think pos! 2ww time ☺

Blueroses99 · 30/11/2016 17:04

Hobbes hoping your 2 little embies keep on doing well and you get a positive call tomorrow.

LoPI I was totally knocked out during EC and didn't find it very painful, though I did tell them that I find speculums painful so they said they would wait until I was properly out before starting. I found a hot water helped afterwards at home as I felt a little crampy but otherwise no pain.

Sara yay to being PUPO. You are right though, grading is just on how pretty they are, and a higher grade doesn't guarantee anything. Hope your other 3 do well overnight. Rest up and spoil yourself!

Hope2409 · 30/11/2016 19:17

blue congratulations, u must be so pleased x

hobbes best of luck with your 2 little embies and i will keep my fingers crossed for you for your call tomorrow x

sara congrats on being PUPO, fingers crossed your others do well. Our clinic didnt tell us the grade of our embryos as they said it doesnt guarentee anything and people get more worried and hung up on the grades. They were happy with our embryos and that was good enough for me! Good luck with your 2ww wait, when is you test day?

loPI i was so nervous about EC but i was completely knocked out so it wasnt that bad! Goodluck x

My 2ww is dragging, im trying to keep busy at work but its always there in my mind! My OTD is the 8th dec x
